Abstract

The Gaza Strip is a conflict zone that has long experienced blockades, political instability, and armed violence, leading to an ongoing humanitarian crisis. Not only humans but also animals have become victims of this situation, particularly those in zoos that are left neglected and lacking proper care. Amidst this turmoil, Four Paws International, a non-governmental organization focused on animal welfare, carried out a mission to rescue animals in Gaza during 2018–2019. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a non-participatory observation method, using social movement theory and pluralism perspective in international relations as theoretical frameworks. Social movement theory provides an understanding of the processes of mobilization, solidarity, and the formation of global advocacy networks, while the pluralism perspective helps illustrate how non-state actors, such as Four Paws International, can influence international regimes that are typically dominated by states. The study also uses the Five Freedoms framework by the Farm Animal Welfare Council (FAWC) as a benchmark to assess animal welfare standards. The findings show that Four Paws International executed animal rescue efforts through evacuation and medical care methods. The organization successfully evacuated dozens of animals from three zoos in Gaza, all in critical conditions, to wildlife sanctuaries in Jordan and South Africa. With the documented process of evacuation and post-evacuation care conducted by the organization, Four Paws International's mission in Gaza can be categorized as successful. This success is reflected in the physical and mental recovery of the animals, who had previously been exposed to hazardous conditions, ensuring they received better protection after evacuation and demonstrating a significant contribution to animal welfare protection in conflict zones. Keywords: Four Paws International, Gaza, Animal Welfare, Social Movements, Pluralism, Conflict Zon.

Abstract

Gigades is a digital service system in the form of an application and website designed as a medium to facilitate village governments in managing administration and also facilitate the public in obtaining administrative services via smartphones. Koto Benai Village is one of the villages that implements the gigades system. Researchers are interested in knowing how the gigades system is implemented in Koto Benai Village. This study aims to describe in depth public services in reporting village administration management which has currently been implemented with the implementation of the gigades system in Koto Benai Village, Benai District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research type. The theory used is smart village in Herdiana (2019) which has three dimensions in smart village development: smart government, smart community, smart environment. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the gigades system is still not optimal. This is evident from the still low use of the gigades system. There are several factors that cause the implementation of the gigades system to be less than optimal, namely (1) the lack of socialization and training conducted by the Koto Benai Village government to the community so that many people still do not understand how to use gigades. (2) lack of human resources to manage the Gigades system in Koto Benai Village. (3) many people do not have smartphones that support the use of the Gigades application. Abstract

The study was to evaluate Bandung's ten-year trip as a member of the UNESCO creative cities network (uccn) in design categories. The main focus is focused on how implementation of the uccn program impacts the social, economic, and cultural development of the city, and how city branding's strategy is used in the framework of city paradiplomisation. The writer's approach used was quality-descriptive with case study methods. Data collection is carried out through deep interviews with local actors, such as academics, creative communities, and stakeholders from the bandung creative city forum (BCCF). Analysis in this study USES city branding theory and the concept of subnational paradiplomation. Research indicates that the status of a bandung creative city was not only symbolic, but it resulted in a practice of concretive collaboration across sectors. Bandung's creative hub and community initiative are boosters of local creative ecosystems. However, there are also the challenges of sustainability, structural support gaps, and limited global networking impacts. The study concluded that bandung's continued status as a UNESCO design city depends on the strengthening of local institutions, the aligning of city branding strategies, and the more direct development of international collaboration. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of service quality on customer satisfaction at PT. Aerobus Transport, located in Pekanbaru City. The background of this research stems from the crucial role that service quality plays in sustaining business operations, particularly in the intercity and interprovincial bus transportation (AKAP) sector. The research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. A total of 100 respondents were selected through accidental sampling. The primary data collection instrument was a questionnaire, which was developed based on the five dimensions of the SERVQUAL model: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. The data collected were analyzed using simple linear regression, accompanied by validity and reliability tests to ensure the quality of the research instrument. The findings indicate that service quality has a significant effect on customer satisfaction. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.429 suggests that 42.9% of the variation in customer satisfaction can be explained by service quality, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other factors. Among the five dimensions, reliable information and the courtesy of staff were identified as the most influential factors affecting customer satisfaction. Based on these results, it is recommended that PT. Aerobus Transport continue to improve its service quality, especially in terms of travel safety and complaint handling, to enhance customer satisfaction and foster long-term loyalty Keywords: Service Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Transportation, PT. Abstract

This study explores UNICEF's implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in addressing early marriage in Indonesia, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite legislative changes through Law Number 16 of 2019, which raised the minimum age for marriage to 19, significant challenges remain. Factors such as poverty, unemployment, and school closures due to social restrictions have actually driven the rise in early marriage, particularly in Asia. This study reviews various efforts undertaken by UNICEF and the Indonesian government through policy analysis, formal education programs, gender equality advocacy, and the implementation of the National Strategy for the Prevention of Child Marriage (STRANAS PPA). The research focuses on how these interventions are implemented, the obstacles they face, and their effectiveness in reducing early marriage rates amidst the pandemic. The results show that although there has been a decline in the number of early marriages following the implementation of the new policy, serious obstacles remain. Lack of public understanding, weak law enforcement, and the socio-economic impact of the pandemic are key inhibiting factors. Therefore, this study recommends stronger collaboration between the government, child protection agencies, and communities to strengthen the protection of children's rights and create more effective strategies for preventing early marriage in the future. Abstract

he 2024 Legislative Elections show a growing trend in the use of political marketing strategies by legislative candidates. One interesting figure to analyze is Sturman Panjaitan, an incumbent legislative candidate from Batam City. Sturman not only relies on the strength of his formal political network but is also able to "sell" himself as a political product that is relevant and close to the community, particularly by utilizing a targeted and systematic approach to political marketing. This study aims to analyze the political marketing used by Sturman Panjaitan in winning the 2024 Legislative Elections in Batam City. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation of Sturman Panjaitan, his campaign team, volunteers, and voters. The main theory used is the 3P concept in political marketing: push marketing, pull marketing, and pass marketing. The results show that Sturman Panjaitan implemented these three strategies in an integrated manner. Push marketing was carried out through direct campaigning, distribution of campaign materials, and community meetings. Pull marketing was realized through positive imagery on social media and mass media, as well as campaign narratives that build emotional closeness with voters. Meanwhile, pass marketing is seen from the active role of volunteers and community networks in spreading political messages organically. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the interests underlying Canada’s involvement in urging the release of Saudi Arabian women’s rights activist Samar Badawi. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, the research examines the dimensions of Canada’s foreign policy grounded in democracy, human rights, and international feminism. Data were collected through literature review of official documents, media reports, and relevant diplomatic statements. The findings reveal that Canada’s support for Samar Badawi was not solely driven by a normative commitment to human rights issues, but also constituted part of a soft power strategy to strengthen its global image as a defender of liberal values. Through public statements, diplomatic notes, and engagement in international forums, Canada sought to assert its position as a consistent advocate of human rights. However, such actions triggered diplomatic tensions with Saudi Arabia, reflecting the dilemma between public diplomacy and moral imperatives. The study concludes that the Samar Badawi case illustrates the practice of value-based public diplomacy intertwined with national strategic interests, while also underscoring the complexity of implementing public diplomacy within the dynamics of global politics.
