Abstract

Triiodobenzoic acid (TIBA) is a plant growth regulator that may accelerate the change of vegetative growth into reproductive growth by modifiying the ratio of hormones that already exist. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of TIBA and phosphorous fertilizer on peanut (Arachis hypogea L.). This study was conducted using a split plot design with three replications. The main plot was three levels of TIBA concentration; ie, 0 ppm, 50 ppm and 75 ppm. Subplot was four levels of phousphorous fertilizer; ie, 0 kg, 11,5 kg, 23 kg and 34,5 kg of  P2O5. Parameters measured were plant height, flowering age, number of primary branches, dry weight of plants at 28 days after planting, dry weight of plant at 35days after planting, plant growth rate, harvest index, pods dry weight per plot and seed weight per plot.The results showed that TIBA significantly affected pods dry weight and seed weight per plot, but not significantly affect plant height, flowering age, number of main branches, dry weight of plants at 28 days after planting, dry weight of plants at 35 days after planting, plant growth rate, and harvest index. Application of phosphorous fertilizer only affected harvest index, pod dry weight and seed weight per plot. TIBA and phosphorous interaction affected pod dry weight and seed weight per plot. Application of P2O5  fertilizer 34,5 kg per ha and TIBA with concentration of 75 ppm resulted higher pod dry weight and seed dry weight per area than other treatments. Keywords:Triiodobenzoic Acid, peanuts, phosphorous, plant height, seed weight.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to the best obtain the ratio of red bean flour and sago starch selected in the making of crackers. This research used Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications which were followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The treatments in this research included K0S0 (ratio of red bean flour and sago starch 100 : 0), K1S1 (ratio of red bean flour and sago starch 90 : 10), K2S2 (ratio of red bean flour and sago starch 80 : 20), K3S3 (ratio of red bean flour and sago starch 70 : 30), K4S4 (ratio of red bean flour and sago starch 60 : 40), and K5S5 (ratio of red bean flour and sago starch 50 : 50). The result of analysis showed that the ratio of red bean flour and sago starch significantly affect on water content, ash content, protein content, and sensory test. The best treatment crackers was K5S5 with water content (2,33%), ash content (2,18%), protein content (8,57%), and sensory test with colour of yellowish brown, flavorful red beans and sago starch, a little taste of red beans and sago starch, crunchy texture, and overall assesment of crackers was  preferred by the panelist. Keywords: crackers, red bean flour and sago strach

Abstract

The experiment aims to know the effect of interaction giving coffee pulp compost and NPK and get a good dose for the growth of oil palm seedlings in nurseries main. This research was carried out in the farm of Technical Implementation Unit Departement of Agrotechnology, University of Riau, from February to Juny 2016. The research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design factorial with two factors such as factor of coffee pulp compost (K) consists of 3 extents that are coffee pulp compost 0 g/plant (0 ton/ha), coffee pulp compost 50 g/plant  (10 tons/ha) and coffee pulp compost 75 g/plant (15 tons/ha). The second factor is NPK consists of 4 extents that are NPK 0 g/plant, NPK  6,25 g/plant, NPK 12,5 g/plant and NPK 18,75 g/plant. Two factors obtained 12 combined treatment with 3 replications, so that there are 36 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of two plants, so there are 72 plants. Parameters measured were plant height increase, in the number of leaves, the increase in diameter tubers, seedling root volume and dry weight of seedlings.The result showed no interaction effect giving coffee pulp compost and NPK at oil palm seed Tenera varieties (DXP)Marihat age of 3-7 months to all parameters observed. Giving coffee pulp compost dose of 75 g/ plant (15 tons / ha) were able to increase the height increment of seeds as big as 1,09 % and dry weight of oil palm seedsTeneravarieties (DXP), Marihat age of 3-7 months. Key words : coffee pulp compost, NPK, oil palm seeds

Abstract

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel made from vegetable oil or animal fat that can be used as a substitute for diesel fuel. The purpose of the research was to see the effect of methanol addition on biodiesel from used waste cooking oil. The research used a completely randomized design with four treatments which were M1 (methanol 65 ml), M2 (methanol 75 ml), M3 (methanol 85 ml) and M4 (methanol 95 ml) with four replications. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and continued with duncan’s new multiple range test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The best treatment was M4 with acid number of 0.42 mg KOH/g, total glycerol content of 0.08%, kinematic viscosity of 26.35 cSt, water content of 0,01%, flash point of 227°C, saponification number of 123.46  mg KOH/g and levels of methyl ester 99.4%.Keywords: Biodiesel, waste coocking oil, methanol, ash catalyst

Abstract

The purposes of this research are : (1) To identify the role of extension on oil palm independent smallholder farmers; (2) To know empowerments level of the farmers (3) To analyse the relation between extension’s role and  empowerment of  the farmers in Village Sungai Buluh . This research was conducted in Village Sungai Buluh  sub-district Singinggi Hilir  Kuantan Singingi Regency. Research’s samples was determined  by purposive sampling methods by consideration that the location has active extension activities and has farmers group. The sample number are 60 the farmers. Validity and reliability analysis has been done on the measuring  instruments. Data’s analysis to acknowledge the first and second research purpose used Scale Likert’s summated Rating (SLR), whereas Spearman Rank Correlation was used to acknowl edge the third purpose of this research. The Result showed that: (1) Extension has been instrumental in the oil palm farming activity pattern is seen from the variable self-education, dissemination, facilitation, consultation, supervision, and monitoring and evaluation; (2) The level of empowerment of farmers as a whole has been powerless in empowering smallholders self pattern, consisting of variable human resources, productive economic and institutional power is in the category; (3) Relationship counseling role towards the empowerment of smallholders patterns that are in the self-help level is quite strong, powerful and significant.   Keywords: extension’s role, empowerments, independent smallholder farmers, palm oil

Abstract

Kepok banana flour and corn flour can be used as ingredients in cookies. This research aimed to know the best formulations of kepok banana flour and corn flour of the quality of cookies. Design of the research was using a Completely Randomized Design Experimentfor 5 treatments and 3 replications.Treatments of kepok banana flour and corn flour were 100% : 0%, 75% : 25%, 50% : 50%, 25% : 75%, and 0% : 100%.The data obtained were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The results showed that the ratio of kepok banana flour and corn flour significantly affected moisture, ash, protein, fat, carbohydrate contents and the sensory parameters. The best treatment of cookies from this research was 25% kepok banana flour : 75% corn flourwith moisture content 4.70%, ash 2.44%, protein 12.27%, fat  7.00%, and carbohydrate 73.57%.The result of descriptive test showed that cookies has yellow colour (3.10), flavour between banana and corn (3.13), taste between banana and corn  (3.17). Overall assessment of hedonic test of cookies was liked by the panelist (1.93).Keywords: cookies, kepok banana, corn flour.

Abstract

Mammals is one of fauna who often have conflict with human and always made loss to both of them.Degradation can increase the possibility of the conflict. Prohibition forest of rumbio customary is one of forest had important mammals and no many data and information about the mammals. This research aimed to know species diversity and distribution of mammal in prohibition forest area of rumbio. This research done at December 2016. Mammals species diversity found 16 species from 10 families. Index species diversity of mammals in each region indicated that is Panoghan (H’=0.95), Sialang Layang (H’=1.64), Koto Naghao (H’=1.95) with mean 1.51. Species richness of mammals in panoghan (R1=3.22), Sialang Layang (R1=2.40), and Koto Kaghao (R1=2.56), and the mean is 2.72. Distribution of mammals at prohibition forest area of rumbio is random. Keywords: Mammals, biodiversity, prohibition forest area of rumbio

Abstract

The purpose of this research was get appropriated combination of mung bean flour and pineapple and the sensory properties snack bars with the best quality.This research used Completely Randomized Design method with five treatments and three replications. The treatments in this research were KN1 (75% mung bean flour and 25% dried pineapple), KN2 (70% mung bean flour and 30% dried pineapple), KN3 (65% mung bean flour and 35% dried pineapple), KN4 (60% mung bean flour and 40% dried pineapple), KN5 (55% mung bean flour and 45% dried pineapple). The data obtained was analyzed statistically by using ANOVA and DNMRT at 5% level. Results of the research showed that the combination of mung bean flour with dried pineapple significantly effected on the parameters observed. The best treatment from the research was KN3 (65% mung bean flour and 35% dried pineapple) which had 16.39% water content, 1.73% ash content, 55.35% carbohydrate content, 12.31% fat content, 14.22% protein content, and 2.54% crude fiber content. Overall to result of sensory test preferred by the panelists with descriptions of brown colour, slightly mung bean and pineapple flavor, mung bean and pineapple taste, solid and slightly tender texture. Keyword :Mung bean flour, pineapple, snack bars.

Abstract

The purpose of this research  was to obtain  best ratio of  purple sweet potato velva by additional of pinapple puree and preferred by the panelists. The research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications. The treatments were UN1 (purple sweet potato puree 100 : pinapple puree0), UN2 (purple sweet potato puree 90: pinapple puree10), UN3 (purple sweet potato puree 70: pinapple puree30),  UN4 (purple sweet potato puree 50: pinapple puree50), and UN5 (purple sweet potato puree 30: pinapple puree70). The obtained data was treated the analysis of variance and Duncan New Multiple Range Testat level 5%. The best treatment in this research was UN3 (purple sweet potato puree 70: pinapple puree30) which had overrun 16.63%, pH 5.38, 8.23 minutes for the melting time, fiber content 0.34%, vitamin C 0.038 mg/100 g, and overall assessment was preferred by the panelists.  Keywords: Velva, pinapple puree, and purple sweet potato puree

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the effect of shade and NPK fertilizer and get the dose of NPK fertilizer at various levels of better shade to the growth of cocoa seedlings. The research was conducted in the experimental station of agriculture faculty of Riau University from June to September 2017. The research was conducted in the form of experiments arranged in a split plot design used a complete random design (RAL) consisting of 2 factors and 3 replications.The main plot is a shade consisting of no shade, 50% shade and 75% shade, sub plot is the dose of NPK fertilizer 0, 2, 4, 6 g/polybag.Data have been statistically analyzed and examined further with using the smallest real difference test (BNT) at 5% level.The outcomes indicated that there is interaction between shade and NPK fertilizer on cocoa leaf area, but no interaction on seedling height, leaf number, stem circumference, root volume, shoot root ratio and dry weight. Giving a of 75% shade have better effect on the parameters of seedling height, leaf number, stem circumference, leaf area, root volume, shoot root ratio and dry weight. The dose of NPK 4 g/polybag fertilizer gave better effect to parameters of seedling height, leaf number, stem circumference, leaf area, shoot root ratio and dry weight. Giving 75% shade with a dose of NPK 4 g fertilizer showed the best treatment on all parameters for the growth of cocoa seedlings. Keywords:Cocoa seedlings, shade, NPK fertilizer, growth
