Abstract

The objective of the research is determine the effect and obtain the best dose of liquid waste bioslurry of  livestock that can increase the growth and yield of chilli plants (Capsicum annuum L.)in the red-yellow podzolic soil. The research has been conducted experimentally by using a completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 4 treatments and 6 replications.Each unit consists of 3 plants.The treatments were the dose of liquid waste bioslurry (B):B1 = 250, B2 = 375, B3 = 500 and B4 = 625 ml/plants. Parameters measured were plant height, time of flowering, time of harvesting, fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit number and fruit weight.The result showed that the effect of  dose of liquid waste bioslurry  of livestock significantlyaffected to the growth and yield of red chilli plants wich the best dose was 500 ml/plant.  Keywords : liqud waste bioslurry, chili, red-yellow podzolic soil

Abstract

This study aims to determine the change pattern of  morphological and  physical traits of palm oil fruitsduring the fruit development until the time to harvest. This researchhas been conducted at PT. Panca Surya Garden’s Research Farm located in Kubang Raya, Kampar and Plant Physiology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau Pekanbaru from February to August 2016.Sixty fruit bunchs which antheses at the same day were selected at random from 7 years old oil palm trees. The fruit bunches were hand pollinated at 18 March 2016 and each was covered by pollination bag. Beginningat 30 to 120 days after pollination (DAP), 3 fruits bunches were harvested at 15 day interval. Then from 125 DAP to 185 DAP the fruit bunch were harvested every 5 days interval. The change of morphological and physical traits were observed such as fresh bunch weight, fresh fruit weight per bunch, mesocarp thickness, fruit diameter, fruit volume andfruit moisture content, and fruit color. Showed that the increase of bunch weight, fresh fruit weight per bunch, fresh fruit weight occurred at the same pattern. Fruit fresh weight and dry weight increase steadily from 30 DAP  and reached the maximum values at about 170 DAP, then decreased slightly until 185 DAP. The fruit water content increased slowly from 30 to 45 DAP, then decreased progressively untul 150 DAP and finally decreased very rapidly  from 150 to 180 DAP. Fruit color changed from dark purple to red purple and finally at harvest the color change to yellow red. Keywords : palm oil, bunch weight, fresh fruit weight, fruit dry weight

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to identify the quality and the best formulation of instan starfruit powder with variation red ginger extract addition. The experiment research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), which consists of five treatments and three replications. The treatments were P1 (90 ml starfruit extract: 10 ml red ginger extract), P2 (80 ml starfruit extract: 20ml red ginger extract), P3 (70 ml starfruit extract: 30 ml red ginger extract), P4 (60 ml starfruit extract: 40 ml red ginger extract), and P5 (50 ml starfruit extract: 50 ml red ginger extract). Data were obtain using ANOVA and DNMRT at 5%. The result of this research showed that treatments given significant affect on total, sugar content, antioxidant content and organoleptic descriptive test on flavor and taste, but not significant  on water content, ash content and organoleptic descriptive test on. Colour and texture and also organoleptic hdonic text on colour, flavour, taste, texture and overall assesment. The best treatment were P1 (90 % starfruit extract : 10 % red ginger extract) with water content of 1,60 %, ash content 1,45 %, total sugar content 83,32 %, antioxydant content of 76,81 % µg/ml, with yellow brownish, rather flavoeful red ginger and starfruit, rather taste red ginger and starfruit, rather texture soft and panelist prefered the instant powder starfruit.Keywords: Instant powder, starfruit, red ginger

Abstract

Arwinas Urban Forests is a Green Open Space in Siak Regency with an area of 33.1 ha. Urban forests have a functions to improve, maintain the micro climate, aesthetic values, absorb water, balance the harmony of the city environment and preserve biodiversity. Communities and stakeholders are involved in urban forests management, but their participation was influenced by perceptions of the functions of urban forests. Perception affects a person's behavior towards the object and environment. This research purpose aperceptions of the community and stakeholders about the functions of the existence of the Arwinas Urban Forests. This research used quantitative and qualitative methods. Data is collected through interviews, observation and literature. Primary data were analyzed using chi-square test and ranks spearman correlation test with qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the research revealed that the community and stakeholders had a positive perception, 52.3% of the community respondents and 94.4% of the other parties respondents stated that they agreed to the function of the Arwinas Urban Forests. Based on chi-square analysis, occupational factors and the level of education of the community and related parties have a real relationship with the perception of the functions of the Arwinas Urban Forests. The results of the rank spearman analysis showed the strength of the relationship between community perceptions of the function of the forest and occupational factors and the level of education are categorized as medium and strong. The results of the rank spearman analysis showed the strength of the relationship between the perceptions of parties related to urban forest functions with occupational factors and the level of education factors are strong. Keywords:Arwinas Urban Forest, Function,Perception.

Abstract

The research aims to find out the effect of rhinoceros beetles larvae feces  (Oryctes rhinoceros) and get the best dosage on growth of palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) in preproduced-1. This research was conducted at palm oil plantation of PTPN V Sei Galuh Pantai Cermin Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province, that was arrange completely randomized design (RAL) non-factorial with 4 levels and replicated 4 times, so there are 16 experimental units. The dosage for treatment of O. rhinoceros larvae feces (K) consists of 0, 5, 10 and 15 kg per plant. The observed parameters were increase plant height, increase number of plant midribs, increase plant stem circumference, increase length of plant midribs and increase number of plant leaves.  The results of the research showed that the effect of O. rhinoceros larvae feces increased the growth of palm oil in preproduced-1, as seen on parameters ofincrease plant height, increase number of plant midribs, increase plant stem circumference, increase length of plant midribs and increase number of plant leaves. The treatment of O. rhinoceros larvae feces at dose 15 kg per plant showed the highest impact on increase plant height with 62.50 cm, increase number of plant midribs with 14.00 strands, increase plant stem circumference with 37.25 cm, increase length of plant midribs with 50.75 cm and increasenumber of plant leaves with 10.50 strands. Keywords:Organic fertilizer of O. rhinoceros larvae feces, palm oil.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the implementation of agricultural extension in Tapung district Kampar regency, analyze performance of agriculture extension  in Tapung district Kampar regency, analyze the effectiveness of the extension performance in Tapung district Kampar regency. The methods of collecting sample using Purposive Sampling and Slovin, the samples taken in this research are the group of existing districts in Tapung district which can represent beginner, advanced, and related group classes with 40 numbers of samples and this research uses a qualitative descriptive method to explain the circumstances that occur in the field. The results of this research show that the agricultural extension performance in Tapung district is relatively high with an average score of 3.99, the effectiveness of extension performance in Tapung district is also effective with an average score of 4.11. Keywords :Farmers, Extension Agent, the performance, and Effectiveness

Abstract

The purpose of this researchis to find out the influence of cocoa pod compost and the best dose on the grounth of cocoa seedling within peat medium. Theresearch was carried out in experimental farmFaculty of Agriculture University of Riau using completely randomized design (CRD).Which consists of 5 treatments and 4 replications.The observations were statistically analyzedfurther testedthe smallest real difference on 5%. Based onresearch results show that the inerease applicationcompost podcocoa give contribution on inereasingparameters seedling height accretion, number of leavesaccretion, leaf area, and seedling dry weight. Whereas parameters trunk circumferenceaccretion, ratio of canopy root get not respon different. Applicationof pod cocoa compostat doses 250g/plant get result supreme at parameters seedling height accretion, number of leaves accretion, trunk circumference accretion,leaf area,ratio of canopy root,seedling dry weight.Keywords : Cocoa Plant, Compost Pod Cocoa, Plant Growth

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of several organic materials and obtain good organic material for the growth of cocoa seedlings. The research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau's experimental garden, starting from November 1, 2018 to February 28, 2019. This study used a completely randomized complete design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications so that it consisted of 20 experimental units. The parameters observed were seedling height, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf area, root volume and root canopy ratio. The data were analyzed using variance and continued with a test of multiple levels of 5%. The administration of various organic ingredients did not significantly affect seedling height, number of leaves, stem diameter, root volume and root canopy ratio, but significantly different increased leaf area. Treatment without administration of organic ingredients can increase the leaf area of cocoa seedlings. Keywords : Cocoa, cocopeat, husk charcoal, Compost TKKS

Abstract

ABSTRACT                The study aimed to analyze the channel, structure, behavior, appearance of the deep coconut market in Tebing Tinggi Timur District, Meranti Islands Regency. This study uses a survey method. Respondents are all marketing institutions involved in marketing coconut. Sampling uses the census method. Data analysis is descriptive and quantitative. The marketing channel is seen from the product flow that the goods go through, the structure is seen from the number of actors, the barriers to entry, concentration ratio, market share and the external index. Market behavior is seen from the practice of price formation, correlation and transmission. Market appearance is seen from marketing margins, efficiency and farmer's share. The research results show the marketing channels, namely (1). Farmers sell to the collector and the collector sells to wholesalers. (2). Farmers sell to big traders and wholesalers sell to factories and abroad. The market structure is an oligopsonist, there are obstacles in and out of the market. The value of the market share at the level of collectors ranges from 0.02-0.13, at the level of wholesalers ranging from 0.06 to 0.22. The value of the herfindahl index at the level of the traders is 0.0884, at the level of wholesalers it is 0.1427. Market behavior shows the end consumer (wholesaler) who determines the price. The price of coconut at the farm level is strongly correlated with the price of coconut at the final consumer level. The value of price transmission elasticity is <1, which means that the price changes at the level of large traders are greater than the price changes at the farmer level. Market appearance, the total marketing margin for channel I is Rp. 904.81, - / Item. Costs and benefits obtained Rp. 175, - / Item and Rp. 730, - / Item. Channel II total marketing margin of Rp. 1,061.81, - / Item. Costs and benefits obtained Rp.195, - / Item and Rp. 867, - / Item. Abstract

Bio-charcoal briquette is one of the biomass fuel. Biomass used in this research were rice straw and rice husk. The aim of this research was to obtain the best composition of bio-charcoal briquettes using rice straw and rice husk that meet the standard quality of briquette. The research used Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications. The treatments were ratio of rice straw and rice husk 90:10, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, and 10:90. Data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance and followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test at 5% level. The result showed that ratio of rice straw and rice husk in each treatment significantly affected moisture, ash, density, bulk density, calorific value, fuel, and volatile matter. The best treatment was a bio-charcoal briquettes which made from ratio rice straw and rice husk 10:90 with moisture content 9.4543%, ash content 30.2718%, density content 1.0110 g/cm3, crushing strength content 0.0120 kg/cm2, calorific value 3794.3530 cal/g, fuel content 0.0081 g/second, and level of volatile matter 0.0198%.Keywords : Bio-charcoal briquette, rice straw, rice husk
