Abstract

The purpose of research to know about the effect of mulching TKKS and get the best dose to the growth of palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) seedlings. This research have done in the Garden of Agriculture Faculty, Riau University, Jl. Bina Widya KM 12,5 Simpang Baru, Tampan, Pekanbaru for about four months from Januari until Mei 2016 with using completely randomized design (CRD) Non Faktorial. As for each treatment mulching TKKS (M) is, M0 = Mulching TKKS dose 0 g/plant, M1 = Mulching TKKS dose 15 g/plant, M2 = Mulching TKKS 20 g/plant, M3 = Mulching TKKS 25 g/plant and M4 = 30 g/plant. The parameter which to be subject are seedling height increment, number of leaf increment, leaf area,  diameter hump increment, seedling root volume, seedling dry weight, and ratio crown and root. By statistic of analyse data with using DNRMT and to be continue with different experience on level 5%. The result of experience shows that mulching TKKS on palm oil seedlings effect to seedling height increment, number of leaf increment, and seedling dry weight, except leaf area, diameter hump increment, seedling root volume and ratio crown and root.   Keywords: Mulching TKKS, Palm Oil

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to study the effect of cocoa fruit skin compost (CFSC) on Ultisol medium the growth of cocoa seed. This research was conducted in experiment garden of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, at Bina Widya Campus, Subrantas Street km 12.5, Simpang Baru, Tampan, Pekanbaru. This research taken time as 3 months starting from june 2016 until October 2016. This experiment was conducted used Randomized Complete Design (RCD) non factorial is cocoa fruit skin compost (CFSC) consist of 6 level (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 g cfsc/plant) with 3 replications. Observation parameters consist of seed height, number of leaves, stem diameter, canopy dry weight, dry weight of root and root canopy ratio. The result of this research show that the applications 200 g cfsc/plant increased seed height, number of leaves, stem diameter, canopy dry weight, dry weight of root and root canopy ratio compared with without applications. Abstract

The purpose of this studyis to determine the effect of the interaction of solid germination of palm oil and phosphorus fertilizer and get the best dose on the growth and yield of eggplant. The experiment was conducted at Experimental Garden of Agriculture Faculty of Riau University in September - December 2017 in the form of 3x3 factorial experiment arranged according to RAL where the first factor of Solid Palm oil dose (17, 34 and 51 ton.ha-1) second factor dose of TSP fertilizer (0, 75 and 150 kg.ha-1). The parameters observed were plant height, flowering age, age of first harvest, number of fruits per plant, fruit length, fruit diameter and fruit weight per plant. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using variance then the results obtained were followed by Duncan's multiple-range test of 5%. The results showed that solid grading of oil palm and TSP fertilizer had significant effect on all parameters except the age of flowering and the number of fruit crops. Giving solid of oil palm have real effect on all parameters except fruit diameter whereas TSP giving no significant effect on all parameters except the age of first harvest and weight of fruit per plant. Solid palm oil 34 ton.ha-1 and TSP 75 kg.ha-1 give the best results on the growth and yield of eggplant. Keywords: eggplant, solid palm oil and TSP fertilizer

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to obtain the best combination of treatments between the soaking time of sodium metabisulfite (Na2S2O5) and the drying time of the physico-chemical of tofu pulp flour. This research was conducted with nine treatment combinations and three replications. The treatment used was soaking time (L) and drying time (P). L1P1 (15 minutes, 3 hours), L1P2 (15 minutes, 4 hours), L1P3 (15 soaking, 5 hours), L2P1 (30 minutes, 3 hours), L2P2 (30 minutes, 4 hours), L2P3 (30 minutes, 5 hours), L3P1 (45 minutes, 3 hours), L3P2 (45 minutes, 4 hours), L3P3 (45 minutes, 5 hour). The treatments of selected in this research was L3P1 with  water content of 6.47 %, ash content of 1.92 %, protein content of 17.03 %, and sensory assessment produced a rather white color with a score of 3.77, the aroma was rather unpleasant with a score of 3.07, and a rather subtle texture with a score of 3.60.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and obtain the optimal ratio of glutinous rice flour, ambon banana, and guava for making glutinous dodol.  The reseach used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) experiment with 5 treatments and 3 replications.  The treatments were the ratio of glutinous rice flour, ambon banana, and guava porridge (100% : 0% : 0%, 40% : 54% : 6%, 40% : 48% : 12%, 40% : 42% : 18%, and 40% : 36% : 24%).  Data were statistically analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) test at 5% level.  Results of the study show that the ratio of glutinous rice flour, ambon banana, and guava porridge significantly affected the moisture, fat, protein, sucrose, and crude fiber contents, with hedonic and descriptive sensory test, such as color, aroma, texture, and taste.  The best treatment was the ratio of glutinous rice flour, ambon banana, and guava porridge (40% : 48% : 12%) which had moisture, fat, protein, sucroce, and crude fiber of 16,39%, 3,03%, 2,40%, 47,71%, and 7,05% respectively.  The result of the descriptive test of the glutinous dodol from the best treatment was a brownish, a scented of banana, chewy texture, and feels of banana, while hedonic test was preferred by panelist. Keywords: Glutinous dodol, glutinous rice flour, ambon banana, guava

Abstract

The objectives of this research was to know the physical properties of peat soil and growth of rubber plant on several ground cover condition by Mucuna bracteata at social plantation area of  PT. RAPP, Teluk Meranti Subdistrict, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province. Soil analysis was carried out the laboratory of soil science Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This research was carried out from January to March 2016 and the determination of the area of sampling arranged using purposive sampling methods thats are sampling of rubber plant contained living mucuna, passed of mucuna, and without mucuna. Variables observed in this research include of the soil physical properties and observation of rubber plant. Observation of the soil physical properties were soil colour, soil temperature, soil moisture, bulk density, soil particle density, total pore space, soil permeability, and water holding capacity. Parameter observed of rubber plant is circular stem. The result showed that peat soil covered by living mucuna have soil physical properties (soil moisture, soil temperature, and water holding capacity) higher than passed of mucuna and without mucuna. At the rubber plant covered by living mucuna also showed circular stem higher than rubber plant on the passed of mucuna but on the passed of mucuna have circular stem higher than without mucuna. Keywords : Soil physical properties, peat soil, Mucuna bracteata, rubber plant

Abstract

Green beans (Vigna radiata L.) is a food which have a high nutrition, so many consumed by the people. The need of green beans in Indonesia increased in every year,while production of green beens in Indonesia not enough to cover the need of green beens in Indonesia. The research aims to know the effect of ameliorant and the number of earthworms to growth and yields of green beans, and to get the right combination to increase the growth and yields of green bean. This research was implemented in the green house Technical Service Unit (UPT),Faculty of Agricultur Riau University. This research use the complete random design(RAL)that was arrangement two factors and three repeat. The first factor is three level of ameliorant and the second factor is four level number of earthworm. The parameter of observation is plant height, diameter of stem, number of primary branch, flower appearance age, harvest age, the number of pods per plant, the number of dryseeds per plant and the weight of dryseeds per plant. Giving of 10 ton.ha-1 chicken manure and 9 earthworms per plant show the better result to plant height, diameter  of stem, number of primary branch, harvest age, the number of pods per plant, the number of dry seeds per plant and the weight of dry seeds per plant. Giving of 10 ton.ha-1 tofu compost and 3 earthworm per plant showed the better result to plant height, diameter of stem, number of primary branch, number of pods per plant, the number of dryseeds per plant and the weight of dry seeds per plant. Keywords : green beans, earthworms, chicken manure, tofu compos

Abstract

The research was conducted at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru 12.5 Km Binawidya Campus from April to July 2016. Trial usingcompletely randomized design (CRD) factorial. The first factor utilization of organic fertilizer biological Green Botane consisted of 4 levels (0, 25, 50, and 75) g/ polybag plants and the second factor of fertilizers Rock Phosphate consisting of 3 levels (15, 30, and 45) g/polybag plants. The treatment was repeated 3 times. Data results were analyzed statistically operates with ANOVA andcontinued test of HSD (Honestly Significant Difference) at 5% level. The observed parameters isplant high, leaf number, diameter stump, root volume, the ratio of the canopy and root dry weight and analysis of plant phosphor uptake. Results indicate the interaction of biological organic fertilizer Green Botane and Rock Phosphate significant effect on the root volume, dry weight and the ratio of the canopy and roots, no real effect on the increase of high growth, leaf number, diameter core and analysis of phosphorus uptake. The combination of biological organic fertilizer Green Botane 75 g/polybag and Rock Phosphate 45 g/polybag is the best combination of the parameters and increase plant growth tends to increase. Keywords:Elaeisguineensis Jacq., biological organic fertilizers, Rock phosphate, Ultisol

Abstract

The research aimed to know the effect of solid waste and  tablet NPK on the growth of oil palm seedlings in the main nursery. The experiment was conducted in the experimental station of Agricultural Faculty of Riau University from April to August 2016. The research used Factorial Completely Randomized Design (RAL) consisting 2 factor. The first factor of solid waste was 0, 10 and 20 g/plant and the second factor of tablet NPK was 0, 25 and 50 g/plant. Data have been statistically analized and examined further with BNJ if significant effect on level 5%. The outcomes indicated that there was interaction between solid waste and tablet NPK on height of seed , leaf area, number of leaf, diameter of the hump, development of leaf area, volume of root and ratio of root canopy (RTA) palm oil plant. Giving of 4 ton/ha solid waste and 10 ton/ha tablet NPK gives the best growth and development of palm oil seeds. Keywords: Solid Waste, Tablet NPK, Palm Oil Seedlings.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the addition effect of carrageenan and get the best concentration of carrageenan on the quality of pineapple hump syrup produced. This research used Completely Randomized Design by five treatments and three replications. The treatments were K0 (without addition of carrageenan), K1 (addition of carrageenan 0.50%), K2 (addition of carrageenan 0.75%), K3 (addition of carrageenan 1.00%), and K4 (addition of carrageenan 1.25%). The obtained data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test at 5% level. The results of variance showed that the addition of carrageenan at differential concentrations significantly affected the sucrose content, pH, viscosity, colour, taste, and consistency, but did not significantly effect the flavour and overall hedonic ratings pineapple hump syrup produced. The best treatment of the parameters tested and complied SNI 01-3544-2013 was the treatment K3 whith the addition 1.00% carrageenan. The treatment K3 contained sucrose content of 74.29%, pH of 4.95, viscosity 395.39cP, with a description of the colour was yellow, scented pineapple, sweet taste, which had cosistency viscous, and overall rated were liked by the panelists with a score 4.25.
