Abstract

Demands on peanuts in Riau Province increasing every year while the production decreases, resulting in the unfulfilled demands on peanuts. Efforts that need to be done to overcome this obstacles are finding the suitable planting space to plant talam-1 varieties and giving arbuscular mycorrizhal fungi (AMF) to help absorb the plant nutrients. The research aims are to find out the effect of planting space and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi distribution to growth and production of peanuts (Arachis hypogaea L.) talam-1 varieties and to find the best treatment. This research is factorial experiment which is arranged based on RAL with two factors. Factor I is planting space with two levels J1:40cm x 20cm and J2: 40cm x 40cm. Factor II is the dosage of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi with four levels H0:withoutAMF,  H1: AMF 5g per plant, H2: AMF 10g per plant and H3: AMF15g per plant.The result shows that planting space management and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi distribution are yet able to increasethe peanut’s growth and production on all parameters, exceptthe hight parameter of peanuts (Arachis hypogaea L). Keyword(s): peanut, plant space, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi,production.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain the best tapioca adhesive concentration in making charcoalbriquettes. This research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design method consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications in order to obtain 15 experimental units. The treatment in this study was the ratio of coconut stem charcoal and tapioca adhesive as follows: P1 (97:3), P2 (95:5), P3 (93:7), P4 (91:9), and P5 (89:11). The parameters observed in this study were moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, bound carbon content, density, and heating value. The results showed that the addition of tapioca adhesive concentration gave significantly different results for all parameters. The best quality is the composition of P1 with composition rate of 97:3 having water content of 4,17%, ash content of 5,21%, vaporizing substance 9,11%, carbon content of 80,49%, density of 0,593 g/cm3and the heating value is 6.350 cal/g. Key words: Coconut stem charcoal, tapioca, briquettes

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to look at phenotypic performance of F5 lines developed by selecting from the cross between Grobogan and Galur KM19 and to determined the potential lines for F6 generation.Thirteen  genotypesconsisting of 11 F5 lines and their two parents; ie, Grobogan and KM19 were grown in The Experiment Farm of the Fakulty of Agriculture, University of Riau near Pekanbaru. Each genotype was planted in a plot of 200 cm long and 120 cm in wide with planting space of 40 cm x 20 cm by using a randomized block design with three replications.Traits observed were plant height, number of branches, date to flowering, time to harvest, number of filled pod per plant, number of seeds per plant, seeds weight per plant, 100-seed weight and seed yield m-2. Analysis of Variance followed by Dunnett”s test at p=0.05 were perform by using SAS Program version 9.0. The results suggested somesignificant differencesamong F5 lines to the parents served as a control for several traits. Significant difference included for plant height, branch numbers, date to harvest, number of filled pod per plant, seeds number per plant, seed weight per plant, andseeds yield m-2. A significant Variance and heritability were detected for number of seeds per plant, weight of seeds per plant, and seeds yield m-2 indicating that those character is controlled more by geneticsTwo high yield potensial lines included GK19-3-12 dan GK 19-3-31 were obtained due to their higher values of yield components, while other lines had relatively similar value of traits compare to their parents.Keywords: line performance, yield potential, genotypic varianceyield components.

Abstract

The Imbo Putui Prohibition Forest is a traditional forest located in Petapahan Village. The existence of the community has a role in the management and preservation of the forest environment. Where the existence of the forest is closely related to the living things in it. The purpose of the study was to determine the community's role in efforts to maintain the Imbo Putui Prohibition Forest Petapahan Village Tapung District Kampar Regency Riau Province and to know the factors of the community's role in maintaining the Imbo Putui Prohibition Customary Forest Petapahan Village Tapung District Kampar Regency Riau Province. This study uses a random sampling method. Determination of the number of respondents in this study used the Slovin formula with a level of 10% so as to get 96 respondents. Data collection is done by interview, observation and literature study. Community participation is obtained through community leaders, customary law and state law. The community factor in maintaining the Imbo Putui Prohibited Forest area is inheritance from the ancestors and the community is aware of the existence of the Imbo Putui Prohibited Customary Forest as a habitat for flora and fauna.Keywords : Customary forest prohibition, forest, the role of society.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan komposisi media tanam yang tepat untuk pertumbuhan bibit sirih merah  (Piper crocatumRuiz & Pav.). Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau, Kampus Bina Widya KM 12,5 Kelurahan Simpang Baru, Kecamatan Tampan, Kota Pekanbaru  selama empat bulan dimulai dari bulan Juni hinggaSeptember 2018. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimen menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap(RAL), yangterdiri dari: P0 = kontrol, P1 = Tanah Inceptisollapisan atas + Pupuk andang Ayam (3 :1), P2 = Tanah Inceptisollapisan atas + Arang Sekam (3 : 1), P3 = Tanah Inceptisollapisan atas + Cocopeat (3 : 1), P4 = TanahInceptisollapisan atas + Arang sekam + Pupuk kandang ayam (2:1:1), P5 = Tanah Inceptisollapisan atas + Cocopeat + Pupuk kandang ayam (2:1:1), P6 = TanahInceptisollapisan atas + Cocopeat + Arang sekam + Pupuk kandang ayam (1:1:1:1). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa campuran media tanam tanah Inceptisol + pupuk kandang ayam meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun dan jumlah buku tanaman.Kata kunci: Inceptisol lapisan atas, arang sekam, cocopeat, pupuk kandang ayam, sirih merah.

Abstract

Forests play an important role in regulating the hydrological system, as an absorber of carbon dioxide and an oxygen producer so that forests are also known as the lungs of the world. Forest is a habitat for various types of living things, both flora and fauna. Forests play an important role for human life and other organisms that live in it such as animals and plants. Until now, the function of forests cannot be replaced by any technology. This study aims to determine the diversity of mammal species in the Bukit Bungkuk Nature Reserve, Kampar Regency, Riau Province.Data collection methods used were line transects and traps which consisted of primary and secondary data. The data analysis techniques used were Species diversity and Species richness. Based on the results of data processing, the analysis used species diversity in the Bukit Bungkuk Nature Reserve area, the index for the diversity of mammals in the medium category with an average index of 2,53. Meanwhile, analysis with species richness shows that the average species richness index contained in the observation paths is in the medium category with the index magnitude of 3,11. Based on the results obtained, it is concluded that the diversity of mammal species in the Bukit Bungkuk Nature Reserve found 15 mammal species in 11 families. The diversity index of mammals in the Bukit Bungkuk Nature Reserve shows a moderate index and the index value of mammal species richness in the Bukit Bungkuk Nature Reserve is moderate.Keywords: Forest, diversity of mammals, species richness, Bukit Bungkuk Nature Reserve

Abstract

The aim of this study was to obtain the best type of stabilizer for the quality of ice cream produced. This research was conducted experimentally using a randomized complete design with five treatments and three replications, followed by the DNMRT test at 5% level. The treatments in this study were  CK1 = CMC and carrageenan (0 : 1), CK2 = CMC and carrageenan (1 : 0), CK3 = CMC and carrageenan (1 : 1), CK4 = CMC and carrageenan(1 : 2), CK5 = CMC and carrageenan (2 : 1). The parameters observed include overrun, melting time, total solids, fat content, protein content and sensory assessment in a descriptive and hedonic analysis (color, aroma, taste, texture). The results showed that the best treatment was CK5 = CMC and carrageenan (2 : 1) treatment with an overrun value of 25,51%, melting time of 20,16 minutes, total solids of 32,12%, fat content of 4,17%, protein content of 2,75%. The hedonic assessment result showed that the panelist liked the product, with a descriptive assessment that is yellow, a slightly carrot-scented aroma, sweet taste, soft texture. Keywords: ice cream, carrots, stabilizer.

Abstract

Sweet corn (Zea mayssaccharata Sturt) is widely used because it has a relatively high nutritional content and sugar content so it tastes sweeter than ordinary corn. Efforts to increase the productivity of sweet corn are proper fertilization. One type of organic fertilizer that can be used is green manure. Green manure comes from plant leaves that are immersed in the soil fresh, one of which can be used as green manure, namely kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata).This study aims to see the effect of the interaction of green manure kirinyuh and NPK on the growth and production of sweet corn plants and to get the best dose which is carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Bina Widya Campus KM 12,5 SimpangBaru sub-district, Tampan District, Pekanbaru, lasts for five months, from August to December 2019. The treatments were given first, namely the dose of kirinyuh fertilizer and the second was the provision of NPK fertilizer. From the two factors, 15 combinations wereobtained, each combination was repeated 3 times so that there were 45 experimental plot units. The data obtained were analyzed using variance and followed by Duncan's test at the 5% level. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the administration of kirinyuh 15 ton.ha-1 and75 kg.ha-1 NPK fertilizer is the best treatment in increasing the growth of sweet corn plants. Keywords: Sweet corn, Kirinyuh Fertilizer, NPK Fertilizer

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of cocoa pod compost and get the right dose to increase the growth and yield of tomato plants. The research was carried out starting from December 2016 to March 2017 conducted at the UPT Experimental Station,  Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. The study was conducted experiments using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 6 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments are K0: Without doses of cocoa pod compost, K1: 10 tonnes.ha-1 (50 g/10 kg of soil), K2: 20 tonnes.ha-1 (100 g/10 kg of soil), K3: 30 tonnes.ha-1 (150 g/10 kg of land), K4: 40 tonnes.ha-1 (200 g/10 kg of land) and K5: 50 tonnes.ha-1 (250 g/10 kg of land). The parameters observed were plant height, age of flowering, stem diameter, age of harvest, number of fruits per plant, total weight of fruit per plant, total weight per fruit, fruit length, fruit diameter, number of fruit cavities and thick fruit flesh. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA and tested further with the Honestly Significant Difference test at the 5% point. The effects indicated that the application of cocoa pod composts significantly affected the parameters of plant height, age of flowering, stem diameter, age of harvest, number of plantations, total weight of fruit plantations, total weight per fruit, fruit length, fruit diameter and fruit flesh thickness. The total weight of fruit per plant has a positive correlation with plant height, stem diameter, number of fruit plants, thick fruit flesh, total weight per fruit, fruit length, fruit diameter, the number of fruit cavities. While the total weight fruit is negatively correlated with age at flowering and age at harvest. Cocoa pod compost dose 50 tonnes.ha-1 (250 g/10 kg soil) is the right dose for the growth and yield of tomato.Keywords: Tomato, Compost, Growth, Yield

Abstract

 1.2. Oil palm is a crop that has high economic value and is suitable for cultivation in tropical climates such as Indonesia. The development of oil palm plantations continues to be carried out because it is an oil-producing commodity consisting of crude CPO and kernel. Riau province has a very large area of peat land.Peat land has great potential for agricultural cultivation. Availability of macro and micro nutrients in peat soil has a low content. The main keys to the success of crop cultivation on peatlands are increasing soil pH, availability of nutrients for plants and reducing the activity of toxic organic monomeric acids. The method commonly used to improve problematic land includes liming. One type of fertilization that is carried out is fertilization through leaves. This study aims to determine the growth of oil palm seedlings on peat soil by applying dolomite and micro fertilizers through the leaves, knowing the best dosage for oil palm seedling growth and knowing the interaction of dolomite fertilizer with micro fertilizers. This research was conducted in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This research has been conducted for three months from October to December 2019. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that Zinkcup fertilizer given to plants can increase the growth of oil palm seedlings in peat media, application of 3 g micro fertilizer doses through leaves and 12.5 g dolomite fertilizer was able to increase the growth of oil palm seedlings in peat media and the interaction between the application of 3 g micro fertilizer through leaves and 12.5 g dolomite fertilizer resulted in good growth of oil palm seedlings in the media peat. Key words: oil palm, dolomite, zinccup, peat
