Abstract

This research aimed to study the characteristic of tofu produced by using young coconut shell liquid smoke as coagulant. This research was experimentally conducted with four treatments dan four replications. The treatment used in this study were AC0 (3% acetic acid), AC1 (1% liquid smoke + 2% acetic acid), AC2 (2% liquid smoke + 1% acetic acid), and AC3 (3% liquid smoke). The results showed that using of young coconut shell liquid smoke as coagulant of tofu significantly affected yield, number of bacteria, ash contents, water contents, protein contents, descriptive sensory test of colour, aroma, and texture, hedonic test of colour and aroma, and hedonic overall test. The selected treatment in this study was AC1 (1% liquid smoke + 2% acetic acid). The tofu had 163.90%yield, 5.4pH, 81.79%water content, 0.15% ash content, 14.30%protein content, and 5.8x105cfu.ml-1 number of bacteria. Sensory characteristic of tofu was white colour, tofu’s characteristical flavor and rather soft texture. Abstract

This study is aimed to obtain the shelf-life preservation of watery rose apple coated by an edible coating from cassava-peel starch. This research method used an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and four replications in order to obtain 16 experimental units. The treatments in this study were P0 = storage of watery rose apple for 0 days, P1 = storage of watery rose apple for 5 days, P2 = storage of watery rose apple for 10 days, and P3 = storage of watery rose apple for 15 days. The parameters observed in the edible coating were weight loss, vitamin C content, descriptive sensory tests, color and physical hardness.  Data were analyzed statistically using variance (ANOVA) and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test(DNMRT) at level 5% level.  The selected treatment chosen was watery rose apple in treatment P2 with a weight loss of 3,46%, and vitamin C content of 1,00 mg/100 g,while descriptively have a score of 3,63 (red), hardness with a score of 2.97 (slightly hard).  Based on the regression analysis, physical hardness of watery rose apple could be maintained for up to 8,11 days of storage. Keywords: Watery rose apple, cassava peel starch, edible coating, shelf-life

Abstract

Bakteri Pelarut Fosfat (BPF) merupakan salah satu kelompok mikroorganisme tanah yang mampu melarutkan P terikat di dalam tanah dan mengubahnya menjadi bentuk tersedia, sehingga bisa diserap oleh tanaman padi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh perlakuan beberapa dosis BPF dan mendapatkan dosis terbaik untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman padi sawah (Oryza sativa L.) dengan modifikasi SRI. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimen dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 6 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan, sehingga diperoleh 18 unit percobaan. Setiap unit terdiri dari 5 tanaman, sehingga tanaman yang diperoleh sebanyak 90 tanaman. Semua tanaman dalam setiap unit percobaan merupakan sampel. Perlakuan yang diuji adalah beberapa dosis BPF yang terdiri dari tanpa pemberian BPF, 10 ml per tanaman, 20 ml per tanaman, 30 ml per tanaman, 40 ml per tanaman dan 50 ml pertanaman. Parameter yang diamati yaitu tinggi tanaman, laju asimilasi bersih, laju pertumbuhan tanaman, rasio tajuk akar dan jumlah anakan maksimum. Pemberian BPF berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman padi sawah. Pemberian BPF 40 ml per tanaman memberikan hasil yang baik dalam meningkatkan laju asimilasi bersih, laju pertumbuhan tanaman, rasio tajuk akar dan jumlah anakan maksimum. Kata kunci:    Padi sawah, fosfat, BPF, metode SRI

Abstract

Aren (Arenga pinnata Merr) is a type of palm plant that produces fruit, sap and starch or flour in the stems. Peat from its natural formation process has a low fertility rate because it contains high organic acids. Rice husk ash is the result of burning rice husk which can improve soil properties, so that it can support more optimal plant growth and development. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the application and the best composition of rice husk ash on the growth of palm seedlings on peat medium. This study used a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD), which consisted of one factor, namely the dose of rice husk ash with 5 treatment levels and 4 replications in order to obtain 20 experimental units. The treatment of rice husk ash (T) consists of 5 levels with the following dosages: T0 = without application of rice husk ash (control) 100% peat, T1 = application of rice husk ash 10% polybag + 90% peat, T2 = application of rice husk ash 20 % polybag + 80% peat, T3 = application of rice husk ash 30% polybag + 70% peat, T4 = application of rice husk ash 40% polybag + 60% peat. The application of rice husk ash affects the dry weight of palm (Arenga pinnata Merr) on peat medium. The best application of rice husk ash at a dose of 40% rice husk ash plus 60% peat can increase the growth of increase in diameter 0.29 mm, plant dry weight of 1.92 g, crown ratio root 2.25. Keywords : Arenga pinnata, rice busk, growth.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are : 1) Analyze the marketing mix that affects consumers ' decision to buy Talam Durian cakes at the Viera Cake House on Melati street Pekanbaru city 2) To analyze the relationship between marketing mix to consumer decision to buy Talam Durian at the Viera Cake House on  Melati street Pekanbaru city. The data analysis used is the marketing mix analysis. Consumer decision in making the purchase of Talam Durian cake by 7 (Seven) variable marketing mix IE product, price, location, promotion, person, physical means and process. Products with the category of "influential", the price with the category "influential", the place with the category "Quite influential", the promotion with the category "influential", People with the category "influential", physical means with the category of "influential" and the process with "influential" category. Overall the marketing mix variable is in the "influential" category of the consumer purchase decision at Rumah Kue Viera. Correlation analysis Rank Spearman that indicates the relationship between the marketing mix to the consumer's decision is positive and very strong and significant ( x = 0,01). The correlation coefficient of marketing mix marked positive (+), meaning the relationship of marketing mix with consumer decision is in the direction of so if the marketing mix increases then the consumer's decision will also increase.Keywords : Consumer's Decision, Marketing Mix

Abstract

Natural orchid has not yet undergone crossbreeding that is still living naturally in attached forest habitats with humidity, light intensity, and soil conditions suitable for orchid growing needs. The purpose of this research was to see all types of orchids (Orchidaceae) and orchid habitat (Orchidaceae) in Imbo Putui Banned Indigenous Forest, Petapahan Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency. The research was conducted in Imbo Putui Banned Indigenous Forest, Petapahan Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. This study used a purposive sampling technique using an exploration method system based on canopy density. The research location's total area is 6 Ha with three lines so that the line of observation has an area of 1000 m with a width of 20 m (10 m left and 10 m right). The results showed that in Imbo Putui Banned Indigenous Forest, and there were five types of orchids from 4 orchid genera, namely Merpati Orchid (Dendrobium crumenatum), Bamboo Orchid (Bromheadia finlaysoniana), Board Orchid (Cymbidium dayanum), Vanilla (Vanilla tahitiensis), and Vanilla sp. The species diversity index (H ') of orchids in Imbo Putui Banned Indigenous Forest is low with a species diversity value of 1.55, and habitat characteristics are tropical orchids with four types of epiphytes, 1 type of terrestrial orchid and inceptisol soil type, low rainfall, sunlight intensity of 554,49 lux, the temperature of 30,3 oC and humidity of 66%. Keywords : Banned indegoeus forest, habitat, orchid

Abstract

This research aims to suppress the pathogenic attack of       Phytophthora palmivora Butler fungi on cocoa seedlings by using dilution levels of B. subtilis F. Cohn so that cocoa seedling growth become better. The research carried out in the Plant Disease laboratory and experimental gardens Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. Preparation of the inoculum until to the last observation done in December 2017 to June 2018. The study was conducted in a completely randomized experimental design consisting of five treatments and 4 replications. The treatments tested were B. subtilis bacterial dilution levels, is that without dilution, 10-10 dilution, 10-9 dilution, 10-8 dilution and 10-7 dilution. The data obtained in analyzed of variance and continued by the Duncan’s new multiple range test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The results showed that B. subtilis bacterial dilution affected to the initial symptoms appeared disease, the intensity of the disease attack, seedling height, stem diameter and number of leaves of cocoa seedlings. Bacterial dilution of B. subtilis 10-7 dilution is the better in controlling of Phytophthora leaf blight disease of cocoa seedlings so that better growth of cocoa seedlings. Keywords: Cocoa seedlings, B. subtilis dilution, P. palmivora leaf blight.

Abstract

This study aims to produce varieties of shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) from seeds with better growth and production by adjusting the spacing. The research was conducted at the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Pekanbaru from May to October 2019, in a factorial completely randomized experimental design in three replications. The first factor is the variety (V), namely: v1 = Sanren, v2 = Lokananta, and v3 = Tuk Tuk. The second factor, the spacing plant (J) was: j1 = 10 cm x 10 cm, j2 = 10 cm x 15 cm, and j3 = 10 cm x 20 cm. The variables observed were plant height, number of leaves per tuber and per clump, leaf length, number of tubers per clump, tuber size, fresh weight and dry weight of tubers per plot. The research data were analyzed ofvariance and followed by orthogonal contrast test at 5% level. The results showed that the interaction between varieties and spacing plant was seen in: number of leaves per tuber and per clump. The number of tubers per hill, tuber diameter, fresh and dry weight of tubers per plot were affected by the variety. The number of tubers per hill and tuber diameter are also affected by spacing plant. Shallots of the Sanren variety increased, if planted at loose spacing, but the production was higher in the Tuk Tuk variety or when planted with more spacing. Keywords: True Shallot Seed, variety, plant spacing

Abstract

Eucalyptus pellita leaf essential oil has antibacterial activity so it can be used as an additive to liquid soap.  This study aimed to determine the inhibitory power of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in liquid soap of E. pellita leaf essential oil.  This research used a Complete Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications.  The treatments were addition of essential oils in consecutive P1(1,15 ml), P2 (1,19 ml), P3 (1,22 ml), P4 (1,30 ml), and P5 (1,35 ml).  The data obtained were statistically analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at 5%.  The results showed that addition of E. pellita essential oils significantly affected the density, viscosity, free alkali, degree of acidity (pH), antibacterial test, and flavor of the liquid soap.  The best treatment of liquid soap in this research was P5 (addition Eucalyptus pellita essential oil 1,35 ml) which had density 1.07 g/ml g/ml, viscosity 195.87 Cp, free alkali 0.20%, pH 9.80.  Antibacterial activity against S. aureus of 15.65 mm and E. coli of 12.91mm.The result of descriptive test of liquid soap showed that the soap has the aroma of E.  pellita and the hedonic test for aroma was favored by the panelists.Keywords: Eucalyptus pellita, essential oil, liquid soap, antibacterial.

Abstract

Bibit menjadi salah satu faktor utama yang menjadi penentu keberhasilan dalam budidaya tanaman durian. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk menghasilkan bibit durian adalah dengan melakukan sambung pucuk yang keberhasilannya ditentukan oleh kualitas batang atas. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan pengamatan apakah batang atas dari tanaman muda dan tanaman tua akan menghasilkan bibit yang sama baiknya karena perbedaan umur pohon entris durian ini. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji perbedaan persentase keberhasilan dan pertumbuhan bibit sambung pucuk tanaman durian yang menggunakan batang atas dari pohon entris umur 7 tahun dan 33 tahun. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimen dan data dianalisis dengan uji T dengan parameter pengamatan yaitu sambungan jadi, waktu muncul tunas, tinggi batang atas, jumlah tunas, jumlah daun, luas daun terluas,diameter batang, dan persentase bibit normal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan batang atas dari pohon entris umur 7 tahun dan umur 33 tahun memberikan rerata tingkat keberhasilan dan persentase bibit normal berbeda, tetapi tidak berbeda nyata terhadap semua parameter pertumbuhan. Bibit sambung pucuk durian dari pohon entris umur 7 tahun cenderung memberikan tingkat keberhasilan dan pertumbuhan lebih tinggi dari bibit sambung pucuk durian dari pohon entris umur 33 tahun. Kata kunci: Sambung Pucuk, Pohon Entris, Umur Tanaman
