Abstract

The main obstacles to upland rice is the attack of rice seed bug pest(Leptocorisa acuta T.).These pests attack by sucking mature rice grains at the time of milk, causing grain becomes empty. Environmental pest control was offered using the biological control of the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae Metsch (Sorokin). The aim of  the study was to obtain the best local isolate concentration of the entomopathogenic fungi Metarhizium anisopliae in controlling the rice seed bug pest(Leptocorisa acuta T.) pest in upland rice.The research has been implemented in the experimental garden (green house),  Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau which from January to April 2020. The research is prepared using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 repeat, namely the concentration of Metarhizium anisopliae 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 g l-1 distilled water.The observed parameters are, morphology changes and behavior, the start time of the death (hours), lethal time 50 (hours),  daily mortality (%), total mortality (%),  temperature and humidity.  The results showed that the concentration of 60 g l-1 distilled water was the best concentration in controlling nymphs of Rice Seed Bug Pestwith an initial time of death of 90 hours, LT50 174.25 hours after application and a total mortality of 90%.Keywords: Oryza sativa L., Leptocorisa acuta T., Biological Control, Metarhizium anisopliae Metsch (Sorokin), Concentration

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effect of gamma ray irradiation doses in increasing the qualitative character variability of M1populastion of Detam-1variety. Selected seed with the germination rate of more than 90% was irradiated at the BATAN Isotop Laboratory in Jakarta, which consists of 4 levels, that isG1 (100 Gy gamma ray), G2 (150 Gy gamma ray), G3 (200 Gy gamma ray), G4 (250 Gy gamma ray) and Detam-1 as a control parent.Evaluation of M1 generation was established by planting M1 seed at the Faculty of Agriculture Experiment Station, University of Riau during May to August 2018 usinga completely randomized design with 4 replications.From the individual plants in the field trial plots, it was observed that the qualitative characters included observations of leaves, flowers, stems and pods. Data from the results of analysis were then analyzed for diversity using program Ms. Excel.Gamma ray irradiation changed in some qualitative characters such as, created white leaf color, two-leaflet and four-leaflet leaves in the rate of 150 Gy and five-leaflet leaves in the rate of 200 Gy. Keywords:soybean, diversity, gamma ray, qualitative characters

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of oil palm solid waste and to get the best dose to increase the growth of cocoa seedlings. This research was conducted in the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau in July to October 2018. This study used completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 7 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment consisted of a solid dose of palm oil 0 g.10 kg-1 medium, 25 g.10 kg-1 medium, 50 g.10 kg-1 medium, 75 g.10 kg-1 medium, 100 g.10 kg-1 medium, 125 g.10 kg-1 medium and 150 g.10 kg-1 medium. The parameters observed were seedling height, seedling stem diameter, number of seedling leaves, seedling leaf area, seedling root volume, shoot and root ratio and seedling dry weight. The data obtained were analyzed using variance analysis and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMNRT) at 5 % level. The results showed that the application of solid oil palm did not significantly affect the parameters of seedling height, seedling stem diameter, number of seedling leaves, seedling leaf area and volume of seedling roots and had a significant effect on the dry weight parameters of seedlings and giving of 75 g of solid palm oil/10kg medium is better to increase the growth of cocoa seedlings aged 4 months. Keywords: Growth, cocoa seedlings and palm oil solid waste

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the administration of gibberellins ZPT and obtain the best ZPT concentration on the growth and production of melon plants. The study was conducted in the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Tampan District, Pekanbaru. The height of the study site is 10 m above sea level. The study was conducted for three months, starting from March to May 2018. The research was conducted experimentally using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of five treatments. Each treatment was repeated 4 times, so that 20 experimental units were obtained. The treatment given consisted of several concentrations of gibberellins (0, 20, 40, 60 and 80) ppm. The parameters observed were plant length, number of leaves, fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit weight and fruit thickness. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using variance analysis. The results of variance obtained were then further tested using Duncan's multiple range test at a level of 5%. administration of different concentrations of gibberellins ZPT, showed the same results in parameters of plant length, number of leaves, fruit length, fruit diameter and fruit weight.  Keyword : Gibberellins, ZPT, Melon Plants.

Abstract

This study aimsto obtain the best starch concentration in the manufacture of edible coatings and the effect of edible coating on the quality and storage time of water apple. This research method used an experimental method, using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of six treatments and three replications to obtain 18 experimental units. The treatment in this study is P0 = 0% white sweet potato starch, P1= 1% white sweet potato starch, P2= 2% white sweet potato starch, P3= 3% white sweet potato starch, P4= 4% white sweet potato starch and P5= 5% white sweet potato starch. The parameters observed in edible coating were pH and viscosity, the parameters observed in water apple were weight loss, hardness, total dissolved solids and descriptive sensory tests of flavor, color and texture. Data were analyzed statistically using variance (ANOVA) and (DNMRT) at level 5%. The chosen treatment was at 5% white sweet potato starch concentration with a pH value 3,1 and a viscosity 37867,33 cP on the 12th day with weight loss 9.22%, hardness 1.6 kgf, total solids dissolved 1,669 οbrix. The results of sensory assessment have descriptions of scented water apple, a rather white color, and a rather hard texture. Keywords : Water apple, white sweet potato starch, edible coating.

Abstract

The purpose of this study to obtain the best characteristics of edible film from different concentration of beeswax.  This research was carried out experimentally with five treatments and three replications to obtain 15 experimental units.  The treatments in this study research were concentration of beeswax such as LB1 (0.1% beeswax), LB2 (0.2% beeswax), LB3(0.3% beeswax), LB4 (0.4% beeswax), and LB5 (0, 5% beeswax).  The parameters observed are thickness, solubility, water vapor transfer rate test, tensile strength and edible film elongation.  The selected treatment based on the parameters tested was LB5 treatment with the use of beeswax concentration of 0.5%.  Edible film LB5 treatment has a thickness value of 0.17 mm, a solubility of 22.27%, a water vapor transfer rate test of 15.88 g/m2/h, tensile strength of 0.37 MPa and  elongation of 9,29%.Keywords:beeswax, edible film

Abstract

Perbanyakan tanaman jeruk lemon melalui setek lebih menguntungkan, karena tidak memerlukan keahlian khusus, serta dapat menghasilkan tanaman yang memiliki sifat seperti induknya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui interaksi serta faktor tunggal konsentrasi Rootone-F dengan lama perendaman terhadap pertumbuhan setek tanaman jeruk lemon dan mendapatkan kombinasi perlakuan terbaik. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Unit Pelaksanaan Teknis Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau Pekanbaru dari bulan Desember 2018 hingga Maret 2019. Rancangan yang digunakan ialah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan pertama ialah konsentrasi Rootone-F yang terdiri dari (0, 100,  200 dan 300) ppm. Perlakuan kedua ialah lama perendaman yang terdiri dari (2, 3, dan 4) jam. Parameter yang diamati adalah umur muncul tunas, jumlah tunas, panjang tunas, jumlah akar, panjang akar dan volume akar. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis ragam (ANOVA) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji lanjut beda nyata jujur (BNJ) pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian Rootone-F konsentrasi 200 ppm dengan lama perendaman 3 jam memberi pengaruh yang cenderung lebih baik terhadap umur muncul tunas dan panjang tunas, sedangkan Rootone-F konsentrasi 100 ppm dengan lama perendaman 4 jam memberi pengaruh yang cenderung lebih baik terhadap jumlah akar dan panjang akar pada setek tanaman jeruk lemon. Kata Kunci:  Setek, jeruk lemon, Rootone-F, lama perendaman

Abstract

Bird in Indonesia is a protected animal and one of the biodiversity that must be preserved from extinction and the decline in species diversity which has an important role in the forest ecosystem. The purpose of this research was to determine the diversity of bird species found in Imbo Putui Customary Forest in Petapahan Village, Kampar Regency. This study uses a the point count method by following a predetermined transect path, which is divided into three observation paths. Parameters observed included bird species, number of birds, time of encounter and bird activity. The results showed that the diversity of bird species found in Imbo Putui Customary Forest was 30 bird species from 19 families. The index of bird species diversity in the Imbo Putui Indigenous Forest area shows 3.11 with a high category and the Relative Abundance Value (IKR) of bird species in each Imbo Putui Customary Forest area is low. Keywords : Bird, customary forest, animals.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the response of several varieties of soy (Glycine max (L.) Merril) with the arrangement of distance planting for growth and production and gaining the best varieties and distances. This research has been conducted in the Faculty of Agriculture Plantation University of Riau, campus Bina Widya km 12.5 village Simpang Baru, Tampan district, Pekanbaru city. This research has been conducted from November 2017 to February 2018. Research is conducted experimentally using a group of random plans (RAK), compiled factorial with 2 factors and 3 repeats. The first factor is a variety consisting of V1 (Argomuolyo), V2 (Anjasmoro), V3 (Wilis). The second factor is the arrangement of distances consisting of J1 (40 cm x 15 cm), J2 (40 cm x 20 cm), J3 (40 cm x 25 cm). There are 9 combinations of treatments and each treatment is repeated 3 times, resulting in 27 units of tests. The observed parameters are high crop, root header ratio, dry weight of the plant, flowering plant age, number of main branches, Harvest age, number of righteous pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, weighing 100 seeds, weight of seeds per m2. Data obtained from subsequent observations is analyzed statistically using various fingerprints. The print results were continued with Duncan's multi-distance test at 5%. Results showed that the use of varieties Argomulyo with planting distance 40 cm x 15 cm can increase the growth and production of soy compared with other treatments.Keywords : soybean, varieties, planting space, growth, production

Abstract

Peatland is the result of the accumulation of organic matter from weathering vegetation. Peat restoration is a process to restore the ecological function of peat areas. The efforts to restore peat are carried out through three approaches, one of peat restoration is regrowth. Dyera lowii Hook.f is one types of local plants of double yield peat bog forest namely sap and wood with high economy. The purpose of this research is to determine the best application of the cocopeat composition as plant media to the growth of Dyera lowii. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications so that 20 units of the experiment would be obtained. The treatments are: C1 (without application of cocopeat/ control) C2 (application of cocopeat 25%-75% peat soil) C3 (application of cocopeat 50%-50% peat soil) C4 (application of  cocopeat 75%-25% peat soil) C5 (application of cocopeat 100%). The data obtained from the research results were analyzed with variance using SPSS 20.0. furthermore if the results of the variance have a significant effect, further analysis will be carried out using the (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The best application of the composition as plant media, namely cocopeat 75% and 25% peat soil in general showed the best result increase in seedling height of 1,16  cm, increase in seedling diameter of 1,23 mm, and top root ratio of 1,91.                                                                                                                                   Keywords: Cocopeat, Dyera lowii Hook. f, seedling media
