Abstract

Banana peel is an organic waste that has high carbohydrate content such as starch which can be used as a raw material for making edible film. The purpose of this study was to obtain the best glycerol concentration in the manufacture of edible films of barangan banana peel starch (Musa acuminata Linn.). This research was conducted experimentally by using complete randomized design (CRD) which consists of five treatments and three replications, thus analyzed by using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed by duncan’s new multiple range test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The treatments in this research were P1 (addition of 1% glycerol), P2 (addition of 2% glycerol), P3 (addition of 3% glycerol), P4 (addition of 4% glycerol), and P5 (addition of 5% glycerol) in formulation of edible films. The observation consists of tensile strength, elongation, thickness, water resistance, solubility, and water vapor transmission rate. The best treatment was P1 which has a tensile strength of 3,32 MPa, elongation of 18,50%, thickness of 0,13 mm, water resistance of 2,75%, solubility of 15,42%, and water vapor transmission rate of 12,63 g,m-2.h. Keywords: Glycerol, edible film, banana peel, starch.

Abstract

Palm fiber is a waste of crude palm oil processing that has not been used optimally. This study aims to obtain the best resin adhesive concentration in the manufacture of particleboard from palm oil fibers. The research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment in this study was the ratio of oil palm fiber and resin adhesive as follows: P1 (90: 10), P2 (88: 12), P3 (86: 14), P4 (84: 16), P5 (82: 18). The data obtained were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The results showed that the composition of oil palm fiber and resin adhesive had a significant effect on density, water content, water absorption, thickness expansion, modulus of elasticity, and modulus of rupture. The best treatment chosen was treatment P5 with a density value of 0.93 g/cm3, water content of 4.49%, water absorption 54%, thickness development 37%, modulus of elasticity of 1283.47 kgf/cm2, modulus of lift 13.03 kgf/cm2. Keywords: Particle board, oil palm fiber, resin adhesive

Abstract

This studywas intended to determine variability of mungbean genotypes (Vigna radiata L.) at M3 generation after treated by gamma ray radiation. The field experiment has been carried out in the experimental station of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from January to March 2018.This research was conducted by a paired experimental in which two generations of mungbean such as M3 generation were compared to its parental population. The field  experimental was arranged in a completely randomized design with 5 replications. Seed of every population was planted in a plot of 3 m length and 2 m wide. Planting space were 30 cm x 20 cm so as to obtain 100 individual plants per plot. All plants in every  plot were observed based on the important agronomic traits, then  data were tabulated  and calculated the value of variation in each population. The parameters observed were plant height, number of main steminternodes,  flowering and  harvest dates, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, number of seeds per pod, weight of seeds per plant, and weight of 100 seeds. The results showed that gamma ray radiation increased the number of main stem internodes, seed  number per pod, and the weight of 100 seeds at M3generation compared to controls. All characters had high variability value in the M3 generation except the number of seeds per pod in whichM0variation was higher than M3. Keywords: mungbean, gamma ray, mutation, variation

Abstract

Penelitianinibertujuanuntukmengetahuipengaruh jarak tanam dan aplikasi POC Nasa, serta mendapatkan interaksi terbaik untuk pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman bawang merah  (Allium ascalonicum L.). Penelitian  ini dilaksanakan  di Kebun PercobaanFakultas Pertanian UniversitasRiau, mulaidariFebruari2019 sampai April 2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktorial yang terdiri dari 2 faktor dan 3 ulangan. Faktor I adalah jarak tanam, terdiri dari 3 faktor yaitu: J1= 10 cm x 20 cm J2 =15 cm x 20 cm, J3 = 20 cm x 20 cm. Faktor II adalah konsentrasi POC Nasa yaitu: P1 =  6 ml.l-1, P2 = 8 ml.l-1,                P3 = 10 ml.l-1. Dari kedua faktor tersebut diperoleh 9 kombinasi dan masing-masing perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 kali sehingga terdapat 27 satuan percobaan. Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun,jumlah umbi per rumpun, diameter umbi, berat segar, berat kering umbi, jumlah umbi besar, umbi sedang dan jumlah umbi kecil per plot. Pengaturan jarak tanam dan pemberian POC Nasa tidak meningkatkan semua parameter tanaman bawang merah. Perlakuan jarak tanam 10 cm x 20 cm merupakan perlakuan terbaik yang dapat meningkatkan parameter berat umbi segar per plot.Kata kunci: bawang merah, jarak tanam dan POC Nasa

Abstract

Deforestation of forest areas has a direct impact on the condition of flora and fauna, disturbed biodiversity and can lead to the extinction of certain species, one of which is kulim. Kulim is MPTS (Multipurpose Tree Species), almost all parts of the tree have high economic value, the wood is widely used by the community. The purpose of this study was to determine the distribution and characteristics of the habitat of the kulim (Scorodocarpus borneensis Becc.) In the Bukit Bungkuk Nature Reserve. The research method used is a survey method using vegetation analysis. The method of vegetation analysis in this study is a combination of the pathway and checkered line method. The results of the research that have been carried out indicate that the pattern of distribution of the skin in the Bukit Bungkuk Nature Reserve which is located on the three research lines forms a clustered distribution pattern. This is evidenced by the standard morisita degree obtained which shows Ip > 0. Kulim lives on sandy loam soils with a yellowish brown color and an average pH of 4,6 (acid). The average temperature is 26,8 °C and the average humidity is 84,9%. Other vegetation contained in the research plot amounted to 59 types with the level of seedlings, saplings, poles and trees.Keywords:Distribution pattern, habitat, kulim, Bukit Bungkuk Nature Reserve

Abstract

Rangsang Pesisir District is the center of Liberika coffee plantation in Kepulauan Meranti Regency. Liberika coffee plantations in Rangsang Pesisir District are cultivated using cultivation techniques that they employ are intercropping cultivation techniques with coconut plants. The coconut plant is a shade crop for the Liberika coffee plant. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of cultivation techniques and analyze the income of Liberika coffee farming. The method used is descriptive analysis and farm income analysis. The respondents consisted of 30 Liberika coffee farmers. The results of the analysis of the Liberika coffee cultivation technique show that the Liberika coffee cultivation technique in the Rangsang Pesisir sub-district is not in accordance with the recommendations, while the Liberika coffee farming revenue shows a total profit of IDR 7,119,227.92 per ha per year.Keywords: Liberika Coffee, Income Analysis, Cultivation Techniques.

Abstract

ImboPutui Customary Prohibition Forest is located in Petapahan Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, RiauProvince. The forest is managed by the local community, with an area of 250 ha.ImboPutui Customary Prohibition Forest is a lowland forest. Based on information from managers in the ImboPutui Customary Prohibition Forest, there are many plants belonging to the Dipterocarpaceae family.There were 9 species of trees belonging to the Dipterocarpaceae family that came from 5 different genera, namely Shorea, Dipterocarpus, Hopea, Parashorea and Dryobalanops. Types of trees found aremeranti kulit buaya, keruing, cingkawang/tengkawang, cengal, kayu batu, meranti bunga, kuras, meranti pirang and meranti batu. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research with the title Identification of Dipterocarpaceae Types in ImboPutui CustomaryProhibition Forest Petapahan VillageTapung District Kampar Regency Riau Province, which aims to identify the types of Dipterocarpaceae in ImboPutui Customary Prohibition Forest. So that the value of Dipterocarpaceae species diversity at seedlings, saplings, poles and trees in the ImboPutuiCustomary Prohibition Forestis classified as moderate.The highest IKR value for seedlings was merantikulitbuaya and the lowest was cengal. The highest level of stake is merantibunga and the lowest is cengal. The highest pole level is merantibunga and the lowest is kayubatu.The highest level of trees is merantibungaand the lowest is merantibatu.Keywords : Identification, Dipterocarpaceae, Prohibition forest

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of rice straw compost and fosfor and get the best combination on the growth and yield of corn. This research has been carried out in the Agrotechnology Education Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, located in Rimbo Panjang Village, Tambang District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The study was conducted for 5 months starting from February 2018 until June 2018. The research was conducted experimentally in the form of factorial 3 x 4 using a Randomized Block Design (RBD). Factor 1 of rice straw compost consists of 3 levels (5, 10,15 tons.ha-1) and factor 2 of fosfor fertilizer consists of 4 levels (48, 96, 144,192 kg.ha-1) and 3 replications. Data obtained from the results of the study were statistically analyzed using variance to determine the effect of treatment, and the results of variance were continued with Duncan New Multiple Range Test at 5% level to determine differences between treatments. The results showed that the dose of rice straw compost and fosfor fertilizer had different effects on plant growth and yield. The application of 10 tons.ha-1 rice straw compost and 144 kg.ha-1 P fertilizer is the bestdose to increase the growth and yield of corn. Keywords : rice straw compost, fosfor, corn plants.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction of the application of oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) compostand arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and the single factor of each treatment of growth and production of mung bean plants (Vigna radiata L.) in Ultisol soil. The study was conducted in the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University in April - July 2019. The Research was usedfactorial completely randomized design (CRD). The first factor is the dosage of OPEFB compost (0, 37.5 and 75 g per plant) and the second factor is the dosage of AMF (0, 5 and 10 g per plant). The parameters observed were plant height, number of productive branches, age of flowering, age of harvest, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, percentage of pods per plant, weight of seeds per plant, weight of 100 seeds, percentage of effective root nodules and percentage of infected roots CMA. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using variance then the results obtained were followed by Duncan's test of 5% level. The results showed that there was an effect of interaction between OPEFB and CMA compost on the percentage of CMA infected roots, flowering age and harvest age. TKKS compost application with a dose of 75 g per plant can accelerate flowering and harvest age, increase plant height, number of productive branches, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, seed weight per plant, percentage of effective root nodules and percentage of infected roots. Application of CMA dose of 10 g per plant can accelerate flowering and harvest age, increase plant height, number of productive branches, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, weight of seeds per plant and percentage of roots infected with CMA. Keywords: mung bean, compost OPEFB, AMF, Ultisol

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to evaluate the effect of variation sucrose using starter Lactobacillus fermentum InaCC B1295 on the quality of probiotic drink of nipah fruit. This research was conducted experimentally using Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications. The treatments in this study were PN1 (without addition of sugar), PN2 (addition of 2% sugar), PN3 (addition of 4% sugar), PN4 (addition of sugar 6%) and PN5 (addition of sugar 8%). Data obtained were statically analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The results show that variation of sucrose concentration significantly affected pH value, total lactic acid, total lactic acid bacteria, total sugar, ash, colour, consistency, flavour, taste and overall acceptance of probiotic drink. The best treatment was PN5 (addition of 8% sugar), with pH 3.41, total lactic acid 0.51%, total LAB 10.23 cfu/ml, total sugar 10.36%, and ash content 0.08%. The probiotic drink of PN5 treatment was favored by panelists with cloudy white colour (3.53), nipah fruit and acidic flavour (3.77), rather thick texture (3.60), sweet taste (3.86). Overall assessment hedonik test of nipah fruit probiotic drink was preferred by the panelists.Keywords: probiotics, nipah fruit, Lactobacillus fermentum InaCC B1295.
