Abstract

The soybean population of F4 strain descended from a cross between Grobogan varieties with KM19 and KM25 lines aims to observe the selection progress of several lines selected from the F3 population in the Faculty of Agriculture Experimental Garden, Riau University. The experimental design in the field used a randomized block design with 4 replications, the treatment consisted of 20 different soybean genotypes and 3 elders, thus there were 72 experimental plots measuring 300 cm x 100 cm, with a spacing of 20 cm x 30 cm. The parameters observed in this study were plant height, number of branches, age of flowering, age of harvest, seeds per pod, seeds per plant. seed weight per plant, weight 100 seeds, total pods, pith pods, yield per m2 and harvest index. Harvest age has a high heritability value, while the parameters of plant height, total pods, pod pods, number of seeds per plant, weight of seeds per plant, flowering age have moderate heritability values which means inheritance of these parameters in the next generation is not too large. The number of branches, seeds per pod, weight of 100 seeds and harvest index, has a low heritability value. The largest selection response value is the yield character per m2 that is equal to 46.04%, which means that each selection cycle using the yield criteria per m2 will change the middle value of 46.04%. Next there will be a change in the middle value of 33.47% in the number of seeds per plant, followed by a change in the middle value of 4.10% at the age of harvest, then a change in the mean value of the pods of 10.32%, followed by a change in the mean value seeds per plant is 33.47%, and the change in the mean value of the total number of pods is 10.75% if selected with criteria for the number of seeds per plant, age of harvest, number of pods in a row, and number of seeds per plant in a row. Keywords: Soybean, variability, selection, heritability,

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the concentration of nasa, the interval of giving organic liquid organic fertilizer and get the best treatment on the growth and production of shallot plants.The research has been conducted at Experimental Garden of Agriculture Faculty of Riau University from February to April 2020 using a randomized block design whit two factors and three replications.The first factor is the concentration of (POC) Nasa which consist of three levelsconcentration 3 ml.l-1, 4 ml.l-1 and 5 ml.l-1. The second factor is the time interval which consists of three levels, every 3 days, 5 days, and 7 days.The parameters observed were plant  height, harvest age, number of tubers per clump, tuber diameter, weight of fresh tubers per plot, and weight of tubers that werw fit for storage per plot. Data analysis used variance and continued whith Duncan’s multiple-range test at the 5%. The results showed that the treatment of several concentration of POC Nasa  had a significant effect on tuber diameter and tuber weight per plot. Spraying time interval treatment significantly affected tuber diameter, fresh tuber weight per plot, and weight tuber worth saving per plot. The interaction of POC Nasa and spraying time interval did not have a significant effect on all parameters plant  height, harvest age, number of tubers per clump, tuber diameter, weight of fresh tubers per plot, and weight of tubers that werw fit for storage.Keywords :shallot, concentration POC Nasa, spraying interval.

Abstract

Palm oil is a plantation that has contributes to increasing economic growth in Riau. Oil palm plantation open up employment opportunities for the community and provide benefit for oil palm farmers. Dumai city in each year shows an increase in area, namely in 2013 amounting to 36.345.00 ha and in 2017 covering an area of 38.079,00 ha. Land is the main factor in oil palm cultivation in order to produce high FFB (Fresh Fruit Benefit), limitied land causes farmers to switch to oil palm cultivation from mineral land to marginal land, one of them is peat land, this is shown in Dumai city peat land is in the 7th rank out of 9 Regencies the city reaches 159.596 ha. This reset is there difference in productivity between mineral land and peat land as well as income between mineral land peat land in Dumai city. This study was conducted in Dumai city with purposive sampling technique where the criteria of oil palm farmers were self-help patterns, on mineral land and peat land with productive age of adolescents in the category of 9-13 years, and to compare them using test analysis of independent sample statistic. This reset shows that the yield of FFB (Fres Fruit Benefit) productivity of oil palm farmers on mineral land amounted to 13.151 tons higher than that of peat land which is 6.766 tons. As well as net income in mineral land of Rp19.367,894,97 land area/year is higher compared to peat land of Rp3.573.741,28 land area/year. Abstract

This study aims toget the best treatment of the use crude bromelain from peel pineapple extract with combination baker yeast and tempeh mold. The research method used a completely randomized design with four treatments and four replications.  The treatments used crude bromelain extract and 0.5 gram yeast and mold with variation treatment: RK1 (crude bromelain extract), RK2 (crude bromelain extract + baker yeast 0.375% and tempeh mold 0.125%), RK3 (crude bromelain extract + baker yeast 0.25% and tempeh mold 0.25%), RK4 (crude bromelain extract + baker yeast 0.125% and tempeh mold 0.375%).  The data obtained were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance and continued with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level.  The results showed that the combination of baker yeast and tempeh mold not significantly affected descriptive sensory test of color and flavour.  Based on the result of this research, the combination of crude bromelain extract + baker yeast 0.375% and tempeh mold 0.125% was chosen as the best treatments. Virgin Coconut  Oil (VCO) from this treatment had a clear color and had distinctive aroma of coconut oil. Keywords: bromelain, baker yeast,tempeh mold, virgin coconut oil (VCO)

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi pupuk organik cair yang terbaik pada masing-masing dosis pupuk kalium, dosis pupuk kalium yang terbaik pada masing-masing konsentrasi pupuk organik cair, pengaruh utama konsentrasi pupuk organik cair dan pupuk kalium yang terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman tomat.Penelitian dilaksanakan di kebun percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau Pekanbaru pada bulan November 2017 hingga Januari 2018.Secara eksperimen yang disusun dalam split plot menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap.Petak utama pupuk organik cair konsentrasi 0, 2, 4, 6 dan 8ml.l-1 air.Anak petak pupuk kalium60, 120dan 180 kg.ha-1.Parameter pengamatan terdiri dari tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, umur berbunga, umur panen pertama, persentase bunga menjadi buah, jumlah buah per tanaman, lilit buah, tebal daging buah dan berat buah per tanaman.Kombinasi pupuk organik cair8 ml.l-1 air dan pupuk kalium 180kg.ha-1menunjukkan jumlah buah dan bobot buah yang lebih baik.Pemberian pupuk organik cair 8 ml.l-1 airmenghasilkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah buah dan bobot buah yang lebih baik.Pemberian pupuk kalium 180 kg.ha-1 menunjukkan tinggi tanaman yang lebih baik. Kata kunci:tomat, pupuk organik cair,pupuk kalium dan produksi.

Abstract

Alstonia scholaris is a high economic value, fast-growing species and spread widely. Alstonia scholaris used to overcome the problem of damage in mining fields. Besides that Alstonia scholaris is tolerant in various kinds of soil. Alstonia scholaris seeds was difficult to obtain is one of the constraints for large-scale planting. The propagation vegetatively or using the hormone of auxin help. The observations is to observe growth of Alstonia scholaris stem cutting increase speed growth of shoots, numbers of shoots, length growth of shoots and number of leaves. Used level of concentration were non-concentration (K0), 50 ppm (K1), 100 ppm (K2) and 150 ppm (K3). The results of study shows the best concentration at a concentration of 150 ppm (K3) with level of shoots growth is 0,42 day, average of shoots length is 0,36 cm and average number of Alstonia scholaris leaves is 4,30 pieces.Keywords: Alstonia scholaris, cutting, concentration, auxin hormone, growth

Abstract

The research aims to study the effect of combination of LCC Mucuna sp. and earthworms Pontoscolex sp. and to obtain the best combination treatment on physical changes of the inceptisol at the plam plantation. The experiment has been conducted at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau, Pekanbaru from Februari to Juni 2018. The experimental unit was arranged in a completely ramdomized design (RAL), consisting of 9 combinations of the ground the LCC Mucuna sp. with the feeding of the earthworms Pontoscolex sp. and repeated it 3 times. Parameter observed were the rate of infiltration, water level, bulk density, particle density, total pore spaces, permeability and soil organic matter. Data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance and comparemean of variables observed by using Duncan New Multiple Range Test an significant level of 5 %. The result showed an increase in combinations of the ground the LCC Mucuna sp. with the feeding of the earthworms Pontoscolex sp. increase water levels, total pore spaces and organic material soils and tend to increase rate of infiltration, particle density and permeability and decrease bulk density at the oil palm wicket. The combinations treatment LCC Mucuna sp. 8 plants/plot with eartworms Pontoscolex sp. 45 tails/plot produced in a change in the best physical properties of the soil compared with other treatments.Keyword: LCC Mucuna sp., earthworms Pontoscolex sp

Abstract

The expansion of the use of peat was not wise, causing the rate of peat destruction to be very fast. Peatlands in Riau have a large enough potential to be planted with various types of forest plants. Efforts are needed to achieve optimal plant growth on peat soils. Trichoderma sp. as Tricho-Compost, it was hoped that it can spur growth and improve the quality of Arenga pinnata plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Tricho-Compost application on the growth of Arrenga pinnata seedlings on peat media and to determine the best dosage of Tricho-Compost on Arenga pinnata seedling growth on peat media. The research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments with 5 replications in order to obtain 20 experimental units.The compost of compost at several levels of concentration, namely: D0 = Without Tricho-Compost (Control) application, D1 = 25% Tricho application -Compost + 75% peat soil, D2 = Application 50% Tricho-Compost + 50% peat soil, D3 = Application 75% Tricho-Compost + 25% peat soil. The data obtained from the research results were statistically analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and further analyzed using Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The application of Tricho-Compost fertilizer has an effect on the growth of Arrenga pinnata seedlings. The application dose of Tricho-compost D2 fertilizer (application of 50% tricho-compost + 50% peat) shows the best treatment to increase the growth of Arenga pinnata seedlings in peat medium showed of a percent live yield as 96%, height increase as 17.25 cm and a top-root ratio as 3.71.Keywords : Arenga pinnata, Tricho-Kompos, growth

Abstract

The aim of this research was to get better yields of the true shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) seed of Tuk Tuk variety on land that had been given plastic mulch and sprayed with coconut water. The research was carried out under the experimental garden shading net of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Pekanbaru, from July to October 2019, in split plot design experiment of simple random pattern with 3 replications. The main plot is a type of plastic mulch (M), consisting of: m1 = no mulch, m2 = silver black mulch, and m3 = silver mulch. The subplots was concentration of coconut water (K) as follows: k0 = 0%, k1 = 25%, k2 = 50%, and k3 = 75%. Variables observed were clump height, number of leaves per tuber, number of leaves per clump, tuber weight per clump, number of tubers per clump, tuber diameter, tuber height, weight of fresh tubers per plot and weight of dry tubers per plot. The observational data were analyzed of variance and Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The results showed that no interaction between the type of mulch and the concentration of coconut water on the growth and production components of Tuk Tuk shallot seedlings. The growth components of the clump height and the number of leaves per clump, as well as the production components of tuber diameter and tuber height of the Tuk Tuk variety of shallots seedling is better if the plants are on land with silver mulch. The growth and production of the Tuk Tuk shallots seedlings  is not optimal because of weather disturbances and the shading net environment does not meet the growing requirements.Keywords: True Shallot Seed, mulch, coconut water

Abstract

Spodoptera litura is main pest that attack corn plant. The farmers still using chemical insecticide to control S. litura so needed other safe and environment friendly methods. Effective and environment friendly control methods can use gamal leaf as botanical insecticide and entomopathogenic fungi local B. bassiana. The research was to knows interaction of gamal leaf extract (Gliricidia sepium) with entomopathogenic fungi local B. bassiana to control army worm pest (Spodoptera litura) to corn plant. The research uses Factorial Random Design (RAL) consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is concentration of gamal leaf extract consisting of 4 levels is  gamal leaf extract 0 g.l-1of water, gamal leaf extract 3 g.l-1of water, gamal leaf extract 6 g.l-1of water, and gamal leaf extract 9 g.l-1of water. The second factors is concentration of entomopathogenic fungi local Beauveria bassiana consisting of 4 levels is B. bassiana 0 g.l-1of water,                B. bassiana 25 g.l-1 of water, B. bassiana 30 g.l-1 of water, and B. bassiana 35 g.l-1 of water. The data obtained were analyzed statistically with variance and continued with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%.  The results showed that the interaction between gamal leaf extract and entomopathogenic fungi local Beauveria bassiana. Keywords : gamal leaf extract, local Beauveria bassiana, Spodoptera litura
