Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of the addition of different protectant to the quality of small shrimp surimi. The method used in this research is experimental method with Completely Randomized Design (CRD) non factorial with addition of different protectant which consists of 3 levels of treatment, i.e. (without addition protectant)2(4% Sukrosa), and S3(4% Sorbitol). Based on organoleptic test, chemical analysis, and fold test of small shrimp surimi with different protectant addition, it isobtained that the best treatment is S3(4% Sorbitol). The characteristics of small shrimp surimi for appearance is flat, neat, gray colour and very smooth preferred by 11 panelists  (44%), the specific aroma of small shrimp surimi (6.84) preferred by 10 panelists (40%), compact, solid and very elastic texture (7.32) preferred 10 panelists (40%). Meanwhilewater, protein, fat, ash content, and folding test are 71.62%, 17.58%, 3.56%, 23.69%, and 2.00, respectively Keywords : Protectant, small shrimp, surimi

Abstract

Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a factor were often used in determining fishing ground area. This research aimed to know variability spatial and temporal SST and chlorophyll-a at west sumatera aquatic. This research use the data of SST and chlorophyll recorded by satelite of aqua modis with spatial resolution 4 km and temporal resolution monthly data. The high mean value of SST was found on first switchover season with value 30,330C and the low mean value of SST was found on west season and second switchover season with value 29,630C. The high mean value of chlorophyll-a was found on second switchover season with value 0,16 mg/m3 and the low mean value of chlorophyll-a was found on east season with value 0,13 mg/m3.Keyword : Variablity, SST, Chlorophyll-a, Spatial, Temporal, Aqua MODIS, West Sumatera

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted in September 2017to determine the oil content in sediments, the abundance of macrozoobentos in sediments and their possible relationship in the coastal waters of Selat Baru Bengkalis, Riau. Three sampling stations with three replications in each station were surveyed. Sediment samples were taken and placed in labelled plastics bags and transported to laboratory for later analysis at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science. The macrozoobentos samplewas given a few drops of 10% formalin solution and then taken to the laboratory for later identification. The oil content of sediment in Selat Baru coastal waters ranges from 917.87 to 5595.73 ppm, with the highest oil content being found at station 1 (around the harbour) and the lowest was at Station 2 (coastal tourism area). The types of macrozoobentos found in Selat Baru coastal waters consist of two classes namely, gastropods and crustaceans. Species of macrozoobenthos which have relatively high abundance value at each sampling point isCerithidea sp. Based on simple linear regression, the relationship between the oil content in sediment with the abundance of macrozoobentos was categorized as a moderate relationship (y = 16.03-0.001x; R2 = 0.588,r = 0.76) which indicated that the higher the oil content, the lower the macrozoobenthos abundance in sediment. Keywords: Pollution, Oil, Sediment, Makrozoobentos

Abstract

This research was conducted from August until September 2016 at Laboratory Aquacultureof Technology Faculty Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau. The purpose of thisresearch was to investigate growth and survival rate of striped catfish with bioflocs system onpeat swamp water. This research using experimental method and completely random design(RAL) one factor with three treatment there are P0: without giving probiotics (control), P1:probiotics giving 5 ml/m3, P2: probiotics giving 10 ml/m3, P3: probiotics giving 15 ml/m3.The result showed that maintenance of striped catfish with bioflocs technology on peatswamp water is different giving affect significantly on the growth of absolute weight, absolute length growth, specific growth rate and food conversation rate (FCR), but not affectsignificantly on the survival rate, food efficiency. The best treatment were obtained intreatment three (P3) with probiotics dosage giving 15 ml/m3 with value growth of absoluteweight 10.49 gram, growth in absolute length 5.07 cm, specific growth rate 4.32 %, foodefficiency (EP) 98,38 %, food conversation rate (FCR) 1,03, flock volume 10.93 ml andsurvival rate 97.97 %.Keyword : striped catfish, bioflocs technology, peat swamp water

Abstract

The research be conducted in January 2017. Observation of mangrove forest density and was done in mangrove forest area in Puteri Sembilan Village, North Rupat Sub-district, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. The purpose of this research is to know the structure of mangrove vegetation in Desa Puteri Sembilan. In this study concluded that there are 7 species of mangroves namely: Rhizophora mucronata, Bruguiera gymnorhiza. B. sexangula, Kandelia candel, Aegiceras floridum, Amyena gravis and Avicennia alba. Based on the index of type diversity, station I was categorized as low with value of H '= 1,5131. Station II index of diversity of type including low category with value H' = 1,094 and at station III index of diversity type still belongs to low category with value H '= 1, 2284. Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was intended to find out the effect of the addition ofbeetroot (Beta vulgaris L) on the quality of small shrimp (Acetes erythraueus) paste. The design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) non factorial, with addition of different concentration of beetroot which consists of four levels i.e. without addition Beetroot (B), 5% beetrot (B), 10% beetrot (B), and 15% beetrot (B) with three replicated, so there were 12 experimental units. The tested parameters were organoleptic and chemical analysis, for organoleptic includes appearance, aroma and texture, and for chemical analysis includes water, ashcontent, and Non Protein Nitrogen (NPN). The result of the research showed that the treatment with 5% addition of beetroot was the best treatment for organoleptic and chemical analysis, with appearance, aroma, and texture; water, ash content  and NPN were 5.00, 3.19, 5.59; 7.77%, 2.90% and 0.37%, respectively. Keywords : Beetroot, Natural colouring, Shrimp Paste, Small shrimp

Abstract

This research aims to evaluation and compared chemical proximate compositions, NPN, amino acid and fat acid of Hemibagrus nemurus from wild catfish, pond culture and cage. Catfish used is 70 from wild (Kampar river), pond culture, and cage in Paku river, Kampar.Value of catfish was evaluation, value of edible portion, dressing percentage water holding capacity, sensory quality, proximate, non protein nitrogen, amino acid, and fat acid. The research was showed edible portion, dressing percentageand sensory quality was not different between fish habitat, water holding capacity highest was catch from pond culture, followed by fish from cage and wild, protein compositions, and cinder fish from wild was highest, next followed by fish from cage and pond culture. Fat acid contents fish from pond culture more hight of the cage and wild, water contents fish from cage and wild more hight of the pond culture, NPN highest was catch from wild, followed by fish from cage and pond culture. Base on data obtained, it was concluded that amino acid was not different from fish habitat. Fat acid of PUFA more hight on fish cage compared pond culture and wild catch. Keywords : Hemibagrus nemurus, habitat, cage, wild catch, pond culture
