Abstract

This research was conducted in April to November 2013 at the village ofMeskom as the location of sampling and laboratory Department of fisheriesresources utilization of ship waters as the place of processing of the data. TheSurvey was conducted on several ships to search for the main vessel size, then thesize of the ship's main design into ships fishing with either using the programmaxsuf. The prisoners in the analysis by using hullspeed. After the detainee wasfound then made changes to reduce the barriers to desan ship. This research usingthe method of survey aimed at finding great boat barriers modifications resultsfisheries ship line plans exsisting. The results showed that the modifications to thevessel's fishing in the village of Meskom the level of change in 5% and themethods used and the method of Holtrop method Van Oortmeersen.Keywords: redesigning of a ship fishery in the village of meskom

Abstract

This study was conducted on December 2013. It was aimed at finding out theinvolvement of fisherman wives in terms of time allocated to increase the domestic incomesand the their participation in terms of domestic incomes. The method used in this study wascensus method with 22 respondents.The fisherman wives involvement observed from the number of working hoursdevoted to increase the domestic incomes shows that the fishermen’s working hours is higherthan their wives. The wives contribution to the domestic income by average contribution onthe level of 26-50 %.Keywords: Fisherman’s wives participation, income participation of fisherman’s wives, DesaKorong Sungai Limau.

Abstract

This research was conducted in August and November 2013 in the province of Riau Strait Bengkalis. The method used in this study is a survey method . The purpose of this study was to determine the potential catches Terubuk ( Tenualosa macrura ) in Bengkalis waters. The results showed that the results of the survey of the Terubuk fish were caught fishing waters Bengkalis the month from August to November 2013. Retrieved Terubuk number and size of fish caught as many as 3554 head comprising 1082 males and 2472 Terubuk tail tail Terubuk females . Terubuk fish growth speed at the time a young age faster than when the fish is old. The rapid growth of the young - old fish occurs because the energy obtained from food are mostly used for growth. In older fish the energy obtained from food is no longer used for growth, but only used to maintain it self and replace the damaged cells.The rate of death arrest ( F ) during the study period is higher than the rate of natural mortality ( M ) , so that the total mortality rate ( Z ) during the periods of the study are determined by the rate of death arrest ( F ). Terubuk fish mortality rate during the study period due to factors at the time of capture by fishing for migratory fish spawning . Terubuk endangered fish caused by two main factors : first, the seizure at the time of entry into migratory fish Strait Bengkalis, secondly, the quality of the water into a fish alive Terubuk diminishing.Keywords : Potential , Terubuk Fish , Aquatic Bengkalis

Abstract

This study was conducted from Juni to November 2013 in The Barumun River and in the laboratory of the Fishery Biology, Fisheries and Marine Sciences Faculty, Riau University. It aims to determine the reproductive biology of the tenualosa ilisha. Sex ratio, gonad maturating level, gonado somatic index, eggs diameter, fecundity were observed visually and analyzed based on Cassei (in Effendie, 1979). While histological characteristics of the gonad was studied based on Effendie (1979).111 fishes were caught and results indicated that male and female ratio was 3,2 : 1 and it was not significantly different (X2 test). The age of maturity of males was achieved by 120 g (BW) and 160 mm (SL), while that of the female was 400 g (BW) and 270 mm (SL). The body weight may increase as the gonad maturation level increase. The range of gonado somatic index was 0,3–25,0 %. The range of eggs diameter in the 4th maturity stage was 0,2–0,9 mm in diameter. The fecundity of (number of eggs) fish with 285–495 mm (SL) and gonad weight was around 81.450–245.267 eggs. Results of histological study shown that the eggs and sperm in the gonad are on several maturity stages.Keyword : Tenualosa ilisha, Barumun river, Sex ratio, Gonadal Maturating Index, Fecundity

Abstract

This research was carried out in the lacustrine and transition zone of Koto Panjang Reservoir from October - December 2013. Objective of the present research was to find out the vertical profile of nitrate in this reservoir. The research used survey method, samples were taken horizontally in four stations and vertically in five sampling points. The parameters of water quality measured were nitrate, dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, transparancy, temperature and depth. In the lacustrine zone concentration of nitrate in the surface was 0,148 – 0,166 mg/l, in the 2 Secchi depth was 0,16 – 0,168 mg/l, in the 4 Secchi depth was 0,153 – 0,162 mg/l, in the 12 m depth was 0,158 – 0,166 mg/l and in the bottom was 0,17 – 0,192 mg/l. In the transition zone concentration of nitrate in the surface was 0,1525 – 0,155 mg/l, in the 2 Secchi depth was 0,157 – 0,158 mg/l, in the 4 Secchi depth was 0,158 – 0,175mg/l, and in the bottom was 0,176 – 0,185mg/l. The concentration of dissolved oxygen (DO) was in the range of 0,10 – 8,75 mg/l. The value of pH was in the range of 5,4 – 5,9. Transparancy was in the range of 83,8 – 105 cm. Temperature was in the range of 28 – 32,3 oC. Depth was in the range of 9,3 – 22,7 m. The vertical profile of nitrate in the lacustrine and transition zone Koto Panjang reservoir of the present reseach revealed that nitrate concentration in the transition zone was relatively lower than that of lacustrine in the surface layer of the water, but the pattern of vertical nitrate profile in each zone was similar in which it increased with increasing depth. The parameters of water quality were observed still sustained the aquatic organism life.Keywords: nitrate, the vertical profile, PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir

Abstract

This research was conducted at December 2013 in the Lambur Luar, East Muara Sabak, East Tanjung Jabung, Jambi Province. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficiency of Trawl cod end. While the benefits are expected to provide useful information for writers, for readers, and for the people Lambur Luar, as well as an input to the fisher of Lambur Luar to modify fishing gear and Trawl cod end size so as to correspond to the number of catches expected. Efficiency of Trawl cod end is a principle which enables the achievement of the best comparison between total catches and volume of Trawl cod end. Efficiency values of Trawl cod end obtained from the division between total catches per operation with Trawl cod end volume and multiplied by 100 %. The trawl cod end of Lambur Luar is very inefficient, it can see from the result the values of trawl cod end efficency between 0,1-0,31. The average of trawl cod end efficiency is 0,15.Keywords : Efficiency, Trawl cod end, Total catches.

Abstract

This research was conducted in December 2013, which is located in the village of Aek Manis Sibolga of North Sumatra Province. The research method used is a survey/diretc observation. The purpose of this study is to compile information about the technical aspects, economic, operation, environmental and purse seine that operated fisherman at Aek Manis village. The result of this research known that purse seine operated in the village of Aek Manis has the same technical aspects of generally construction with other purse seine which is comprised of the head rope, ground rope, body, wings , floats, sinkers, rings, Selvedge, purse line. The operation of purse seine is divided into three stages namely, Searching of fishes schooling, setting, and hauling. While the economic value of Rp 648.380.000, gross income, net income of Rp 145.770.000/year , benefit cost ratio (BCR) of 1.29 , financial rate return (FRR) is 61 %, payback period of capital (PPC) is 1.6. The rating value is 24.66 that means purse seine can be classified into environmental friendly fishing gear.Keywords: technical aspects,economical,operation, friendly environmentalfishing gear.

Abstract

This study was conducted in Selat Air HitamKepulauanMerantiDistrict ProvinceRiau, used survey method, and the purpose was to determine the existing fishing areas in Selat Air Hitam. From the research,there isonepointthe fishing areawith the best catches throughout the year, that isat the pointof 560 03.0' N – 1020 54’’ 18.5’ E, this point is located close to the village of Repan ,fishing gearusedgombangandlongline, but it catches in the waters of the Selat Air Hitam has various kinds of seafood ranging from fish to shrimp (Penaus) . That affect the extent of the catch in the waters it is a state of the marine environment , because if the water is polluted, the number of fish in the waters will be very few fish in the catch and fishing are also not as they had hoped , the Selat Air Hitam is included in the potential region make an arrest, it can be of varying catches of fishermen.Keywords : fishing area , fishing gear , Selat Air Hitam

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the characteristic of catfish based on it’s size, age and the ability of swimming. The special purpose is to know and examine the swimming durance, swimming speed, maximum swimming speed and prolonged swimming speed of catfish that will be compared with the review of literature through this experiment method. The result of this experiment shows that the swimming durance, swimming speed, the maximum swimming speed and prolonged swimming speed of catfish will be weak in the certain speed when it is given the high stream flow.Keywords : Endurance, swimming speed, maximum swimming speed, and prolonged swimming speed of catfish.

Abstract

The research was conducted from July to September 2013 in PLTA Koto PanjangReservoir Kampar Regency, Riau Province. This research aims to see the vertical profile ofdissolved oxygen in lacustrine and transition zone in the PLTA Koto Panjang reservoir, seethe depth is safe for the concentration of dissolved oxygen for aquaticlife organisms and todetermine the effect of oxygen on the KJA to lacustrine and transition zone . Water sampleswere collected from four station, namely station L1 and L2 in lacustrine zone, T1 and T2 intransition zone. In each station, vertikal sampling is determined based on transparancy namelyin the surface, 2 Secchi depth (3 meters), 4 secchi depth (6 meters), 12 meters and in thebottom. Sample was done three time and sampling interval three week. The water qualityparameters measured were dissolved oxygen, free carbon dioxide, pH, nitrate, phosphate,temperature, depth, transparency, and phytoplankton abundance.The result shown dissolved oxygen in the surface range 7,14 – 7,94 mg/L, 2 secchidepth 5,35 – 7,81 mg/L, 4 secchi depth 3,01 – 4,67 mg/L, 12 meters 0,68 – 2,33 mg/L and inthe bottom 0,14 – 1,37 mg/L. CO2 range 5,32 – 38,62 mg/L, pH 5,50 – 5,83, nitrate 0,24 –0,32 mg/L, 0,02 – 0,14 mg/L, temperature 27,67 – 32,33 0C, depth 9,1 – 23,9 m, transparancy86 – 111,67 cm, phytoplankton abundance range 54.004 – 83.469 cells/L. Based on theverikal profil of dissolved oxygen shown the concentration of dissolved oxygen decreaseswith increasing depth. In the lacustrine zone of dissolved oxygen concentration has anoksix at12 m.Keyword : Dissolved Oxygen, Vertical Profile, PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir
