Abstract

AbstrackChanges in the coastline are, back and forth events coastline than before that causad by natural and human factors. This research was conducted in August 2018 in the coastal area of North Siporadistrict, West Sumatera Province. This study aims to determine changes in the coastline in North Sipora District use Landsat Imagery, year 2000. 2007, 2013, and 2018. Image data was downloaded from the USGS site was then analyzed using the ER Mapper 7.0 application and Arc Gis. The results of  image data processing show that coastline changes that occurred during the 18 years experienced changes an accretion and abrassions.Based on image data processing, the area with high accretion is found in 2000-2007 with an area of 571 ha and a high area of abrassion in 2007-2013 with an area of 271 ha. On measurements in the field the abrassion speeds obtained ranged from 1.4-1.76 m / year. Abstract

Abstract The noodle industry liquid waste is rich in ammonia and TSS and thus need to be processed before being flown to environment. A research aims to reduce the ammonia and TSS on liquid waste using biofilters has been conducted in March-April 2018.The noodle industry liquid waste (175 liters) wastreated using a batch system that was consisted of2 anaerob and 1 aerob tanks and Eichhrornia crassipes phytoremediation pond. The liquid waste was kept for 10 days in anaerob tank with gravel, sand and fibers media. Then the waste was kept for 7 days in aerob tanks with mangrove charcoal media.Finally the waste was kept for 15 days in a phytoremediation pondthat was completed with Eichhrornia crassipes. By the end of the experiment, the ammonia reduced from 9.123 mg/L to 0.415 mg/L (effectiveness 95.45%)and TSS reduced from 448 mg/L to 85 mg/L (effectiveness 81.02%). The treated waste was used for rearing Cyprinus carpio L. fingerling (4 - 7 mm TL) for 15 days and survival rate of the fish was 85%. Based on data obtained, the combination of anaerob-aerob biofilters and phytoremediationusing Eichhornia crassipes is effective to reduce the ammonia and TSS content in thenoodle industry liquid waste.Keywords: Mangrove charcoal, Organic waste, organic pollutant, waste water, batch system

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research was to know the distribution and maternity of Razor clam’s gonad (Solen lamarckii). This research was held in August 2018 at Teluk lancar village, Bengkalis regency of Riau Province. The research used survey methodology. According to it, the razor clam’s habitat was found in sand substrate that classified as fine sand. The compactness rate of razor clams in its coastal area is 1.2 spesies/m. While, the razor clam’s size rate are bound from 47.9-98.55 mm. Additionally, the most widely gonad maternity was found in box 7.The highest group of razor clam gonad maternity index was <10% as many as 31 individuals. Keywords: Razor Clam, Distribution, Gonad Maternity, Teluk Lancar.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Theaim of the study was to know the effect of adding aloevera extract on the shelf-life of dried catfish. The method used was experiment and the design used was a non factorial randomized block design(RBD). The treatments conducted were soaking the catfish into aloevera extract solution, varied to four level (0, 25 mL, 35 mL, and 45 mL), for three hours. The samples then were stored and observed for 10, 20 and 30 days. The parameters used were the total number of microba (total plate count), chemical analysis(the content of moisture, protein, and fat) and organoleptic values (appearance, odor, taste  and texture). The result showed that all level of aloevera extract solutionwere affecting significantlyto the appearace, odor, texture,total plate countand fat content, but not significantly tothemoisture and protein content. The soaking the catfish into the aloevera extract solution at 45 ml wasshowing the best treatment, indicated by highest values of organoleptic evaluation. The dried catfish was performing the appearance with whole, bright colour and tight skin;the texturewas compact, solid, and elastic;and the odor was specific smell of fresh fish. The total number of microbia was 2.6 x 105CFU/g, moisture content was 19.95%, fat content was 67.27% andprotein content was 66.75%. Key words :aloeveraextract, dried catfish, immersion, shelf life,

Abstract

ABSTRACT    This research was conducted on may 2019 in Suka Maju  Village, Rambah sub-District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. This study aims to determine the characteristics of fish farmers. to find out how the level of motivation of fish farmers and to analyze how the characteristics relate to the motivation of fish cultivator businesses. The method used in this study is the survey method which is analyzed using Rank Spearman and the number of respondents in this study were 25 respondents.  From the results of the research analysis, Farmers characteristics include: age, education, income, number of dependents and bussiness experience. From the results of the research analysis, it was found that the level of motivation of fish farmers is seen from 6 indicators namely 3 indicators of intrinsic motivation (willingness, hope, enthusiasm)and 3 indicators of extrinsic motivation (rewards, income, market opportunities), the more dominant indicator is the intrinsic motivation indicator with a score of 48%,and extrinsic motivation indicators 44%. The relationship of characteristics with the motivation of fish farmers stated, the relationship of intrinsic motivation related to age, education, and business experience has a significant relationship, the relationship between intrisic motivation with income and the number of family dependents is not significant. And extrinsic motivation relations related to age, education, number of family dependents and business experience have a significant relationship, the relationship between extrinsic motivation and income is not significant.        Keywords: Relationships, characteristics, motivation business, fish farmer.

Abstract

ABSTRACT   This study aims to determine the effect of curry flavor on consumer acceptance of instant anchovy sago (Stolephorussp) noodles and analyze the quality of instant anchovy sago products with curry flavor produced organoleptically, microbiologically, and proximate. The method used is the experimental method, with a completely randomized Complete Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatment levels, namely 0% (K0), 5% (K1), 7% (K2), 9% (K3). The parameters observed were organoleptic tests which included appearance, taste, texture, and aroma, and total plate number (ALT), and proximate analysis (water, ash, fat, protein, carbohydrates). The results showed that the treatment of K2 (7%) was the best treatment, towards the appearance value of 3.18 (having a rather yellowish color), a taste value of 3.08 (having a curry flavor rather strong and tastes right), texture value 3 , 01 (has a slightly brittle texture) and aroma value of 3.08 (has a distinctive curry flavor), while microbiology: total plate number (ALT) is 7.6 x 103 cells / gram with a moisture content of 10.07%, ash content of 2.81%, fat content of 0.47% and protein content of 7.59%.Keywords: Consumer acceptance, Curry seasoning, Sago noodles.

Abstract

 ABSTRACT Zooxanthella which acts as endosymbionts in corals requires optimal light for photosynthesis. This research was conducted in February 2019 which took place in the waters of the Kasiak Island of West Sumatra. Samples were analyzed at the Laboratory of Marine Biology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, University of Riau. This study aims to determine the abundance of zooxanthella and the effect of differences in light intensity on the abundance of zooxanthella on Acropora sp.. So the information is obtained about the optimal light intensity on the abundance of zooxanthella. Based on the results of observation, the abundance of zooxanthella in Acropora sp coral decreased with decreasing light intensity, so it can be seen that there was an effect of the difference in light intensity on the abundance of zooxanthella on Acropora sp. The abundance of zooxanthella in control (light intensity 60-93 μE/m2s) is 8.282.997 cells/cm2, in treatment 1 (light intensity 58 μE/m2s) amounting to 3.460.841 cells/cm2, in treatment 2 (light intensity 26 μE/m2s) of 2.113.296 cells/cm2, and in treatment 3 (light intensity 0 μE/m2s) of 588.065 cells/cm2. It was also found that the description of Acropora sp. Coral transplant business will be more optimally performed on the light intensity of 60-93 μE/m2s. Keywords:Zooxanthella, Acropora sp, Light Intencity

Abstract

              ABSTRACT    This study was aimed to determine the characteristics of analog rice of snakehead fish concentrate which fortified Chlorella sp. and to find out the best formulation. The method used in the research wasexperimental. The design used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) of one factor, with 4 levels of treatment, namely the addition of Chlorella sp. as much as 0% (C1), 2% (C2), 4% (C3) and 6% (C4). The results showed that the four treatment levels significantly affected the appearance value, aroma, texture, ash content, fat, protein, carbohydrate, and fiber content but did not affect the texture value and moisture content. Treatment with an addition 2% of Chlorella sp. (C2) was the best treatment seen from organoleptic appearance, aroma, and taste. Meanwhile, treatment with addition 6% of Chlorella sp. (C4) was the best treatment seen from proximate tests such as ash (2.49%), fat (0.84%), protein (16.25%), carbohydrate (66.69%),and fiber content (0.97%). The average value of log transformation of total plate numbers in analog rice of snakehead fish concentrate fortified with Chlorella sp. shown that analog rice was still below the Indonesia National Standard threshold 1 x 106 colony/g.Keywords:analog ricecharacteristic, Chlorella sp., fish concentrate, fortified, snakehead fish

Abstract

Abstrac            This research was conducted on october 3rd - November 2nd, 2017 in the technology Aquaculture Laboratory, fisheries and marine faculty, Riau University. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of different salinity for grwoth and survival rate red Nile tilapia using biofloc technology. The method was using the experimental method and completely randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications , the treatments were : amount of salinity 11 ppt, 13 ppt, 15 ppt and 17 ppt. The result showed that there was the effect of different salinity for absolute growth of weight, specific growth rate and feed efficiency, neverthless there was not effect for absolute of length and food convertion ratio. The best treatment was 17 ppt salinities, gave the absolute growth of weight 2,13 g, specific growth rate 3,47 g, absolut of length 1,83 cm, feed efficiency 102,53%, good convertion ratio 0.97% and survival rate 78,33%.Water quality parameters consists of temperature was around 27-31'C, pH 7-8, Dissolved oxygen (DO) 4-7 mg/l, ammoniak 0,06-0,1 mg/l and the best holding capacity was in 17 ppt , approximately 6,3 ml Keyword: salinity, tilapia, bioflock technology

Abstract

ABSTRACT Mudskipper(Periophthalmusminutus) is a type of fish which its habitat was in the muddy shore of the mangrove area.This study aimed to observe the effect of different hydrolysis time on the fish protein hydrolyzate with the addition of alcalase enzymes, to determine the optimum hydrolysis time to produce a high quality of fish protein hydrolyzates, and to describe the characteristics of the fish protein hydrolyzate produced. This research was carried out by making flour and making protein hydrolyzates from mudskipper as a raw material. The method used in this research was the experimental method and composed to a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatment conducted wasprotein hydrolyzing the fish in the different time (for 1 hour, 2 hours, and 4 hours) at a temperature of 50 °C, and pH 7.5. The parameters observed were the values of non-protein nitrogen and the content of protein in the fish protein hydrolyzates. The results showed that the protein content in fish flour was 86.56% (db) and water content was 8.85% (wb). The different hydrolyzing time was significantly affecting to the chemical quality of fish protein hydrolyzates. Hydrolyzing fish for 2 hours was the optimum  treatment to yield 47.63% fish protein hydrolyzates with the best quality, characterized by the highest content of protein at 7.11% and the value of NPN at 44.39%. Keywords:alcalaseenzym, mudskipper, protein hydrolyzate
