Abstract

ABSTRACTSail River is one of the rivers in the city of Pekanbaru that has been polluted with organic pollutants. This study aims to determine the decrease in TOM and BOD levels by using different bioijuk densities. This research was carried out on the Sail River, in March-April 2019. The method used was an incomplete design (CRD), with 3 treatments of bioijuk density namely P1 (low density), P2 (medium density) and P3 (high density), and each -one with 3 replications. The sampling location was selected in the inlet section (before passing bioijuk) and the outlet section (after passing bioijuk) artificial ditch. The results showed that the highest decrease in TOM levels occurred in P2 (0.046 mg / L) with a decrease in effectiveness (EP) of 95%. The highest decrease in BOD levels was found in P2 (4.66 mg / L) with an EP of 53%. It turns out that the treatment of different bioijuk densities does not have a significant effect on decreasing levels of the TOM and BOD of the Sail River. Keywords: Bioijuk, TOM, BOD, bacteria, effective sperm

Abstract

Abstract The butchery liquid waste is rich in nitrate and phosphate and it need to be processed before being flown to the environment. To understand the effectiveness of combined anaerob-aerob biofilter in reducing the nitrate and phosphate content in the butchery liquid waste, a study was conducted in  March – April 2018. The waste (315 L) was treated using a batch system that was consisted of 2 aerob and 2 anaerob tanks. The butchery liquid waste was kept for 10 days in anaerobtanks, 7 days in aerob tanks. By the end of the experiment, the nitrate reduced from 39 mg/l to 12.4 mg/l (the effectiveness was83.21%). While the phosphate reduced from 15.4 mg/l to2.9 mg/l (the effectiveness was 81.16%). Other water quality parameters such as pH was normal and DO was improved (from 1 mg/L to 5 mg/L). The treated waste was used as a mediafor culturingH. pluvialis. Observations of H. pluvialiswere conductedfor 8 days. The H.pluvialis density peaked by the 6th day, it was963,33 cells / ml.  Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that the useof anaerob -aerob biofilter was effective forimproving the butchery waste water quality . Keyword : Organic waste, Anaerob tank, Aerob tank, Haemotococcus pluvialis

Abstract

Abstract Pangasius hypophthalmus is a type of freshwater fish that inhabit the Sail River that is polluted and the Tapung Kiri River that has relatively good water quality. As the water quality in general affects the blood condition of the fish, it is predicted that blood condition of P. hypophthalmus from the Tapung Kiri River and the Sail River different. A research aims to understand blood condition of P.hypophthalmus from both areas has been conducted from February to March 2019. There are 12 fishes from the Tapung Kiri River and 12 fishes from the Sail River. The fish blood was taken and analyzed for erythrocytes and leukocytes content, hematocrite and leucocrite levels and types of leukocytes present. Results shown that the erythrocytes, leukocytes, hematocrite and leucocrite of fish from the Tapung Kiri River was 2.620.833 cells/mm3, 242.958 cells/mm3, 35,6% and 1,54% respectively. While those of the Sail River was 1.887.500 cells/mm3, 310.500 cells/mm3, 28,75% and 2,62%. In the fish from both areas, there were 5 types of white blood cells.  In the fish  from the Tapung Kiri River, there were lymphocytes 85,6%, monocytes 2,9%, thrombocytes 9,7%, eosinophils 0,8% and neutrophils 0,8% respectively. While those of the Sail River were lymphocytes 56,3%, monocytes 5%, thrombocytes 37,1%, eosinophils 0,8% and neutrophils 0,8%. Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that the fish from the Tapung Kiri River is healthy while the fish from the Sail River is not healthy. Keywords: blood, erythrocytes, leukocytes, hematocrite and leucocrite
