Abstract

This study was conducted in April-May 2013 in the inner marine waters of the eastern coast of Sumatra and the samples were analyzed in the Chemistry Laboratory of Marine Science Department of Fisheries and Marine Science Faculty of Riau University. This study was aimed to determine the chemical profile of oceanographic parameters in the coastal waters of the east coast of the Sumatra region into two parts, namely the southern and northern parts. Based on the analysis conducted on the chemical oceanographic parameters such as nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, ammonia, dissolved oxygen, and the degree of acidity. Concentration nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, and ammonia has a high concentration values with the approach of sampling stations towards the coast. While the dissolved oxygen and the degree of acidity of the sea towards the higher concentration value. The overall values of water quality parameters were as follow a). In the south section: nitrate 0.0102-0.0890 mg/l, nitrite 0.0675-0.4388 mg/l, phosphate 0.0022-0.0310 mg/l, ammonia 0.0403-0.6602 mg/l, DO 4-7 mg/l, pH 7.48-8.16. b). In the north section: nitrate 0.0025-0.0331 mg/l, nitrite 0.0738-0.1097 mg/l, phosphate 0.0044-0.0177 mg/l, ammonia 0.0333-0.9229 mg/l, DO 5-8 mg/l, pH 7.53-8.15. The physical parameters of the water was a factor in supporting this research.Keywords: East coast of Sumatra, chemical, oceanography

Abstract

The research was conducted from Maret – Mei 2013 in laboratory ofbreeding Fishery and Marine Science Faculty of Riau University. The aim of thisresearch was to investigate suitable feed for the maturation of the gonads of sepatmutiara (Trichogaster leeri Blkr) reared with different feeding treatment such asGonad Maturity Level (TKG), gonad maturation index (IKG), fecundity, eggdiameter and egg maturation. The research method used was CompletelyRandomized Design (CDR) with three treatments and three replications. Thetreatment in this study were P1 (Tubifex sp), P2 (Shrimp pellet), P3 (Shrimp pellet+ Vitamin E).The result showed that good feed for the maturation of the gonads wasshrimp pellets + Vitamin E, total fish reached TKG IV 13 tails , index gonadsomatic 9,32 %, fecundity of 2646 eggs, egg diameter 0.70 mm. The temperaturerange from 26-28 0 C, pH 5-6, dissolved oxygen 4-5 ppm.Keyword: different feed, Gonad maturation, Trichogaster leeri Blkr

Abstract

The research on rearing of green catfish larvae (Hemibagrus nemurus) with different protein source of paste feed was carried out for 40 days in the Laboratory of Fish Hatchery and Breeding Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences University of Riau. The aim of this study was to evaluate the substitution of tubifex worm with different protein sources of paste feed. Protein sources used were squid meal, fish meal, cockle meal and mysid meal. The effect on growth and survival was determined.Result showed that tubifex worm cauld not be substituted by the paste feed in rearing green catfish larvae for 40 days rearing period. Among the paste feed, the squid meal protein source paste feed was the best and more efficient in term of highest survival rate and the lowest cost per fish.Keywords: paste feed, growth, survival Hemibagrus nemurus larva

Abstract

The study was intended to examine the effect of different packaging materials on quality of seaweed sweets during room temperature storage. About 250 g seaweed which was taken from a fish market in Pekanbaru was prepared for seaweed sweets with addition of 125 g palm sugar and 20 g cinnamon. The sweets was packaged in 3 different types of packaging materials, HDPE, LDPE, PP and stored for 14 days at room temperature. The product were evaluated for sensory quality, moisture, reducing sugar, and fungi every 0, 7 and 14 days. The results indicate that the seaweed sweets packed with HDPE had the best quality during storage and its quality was still acceptable up to the end of a storage. Moisture and reducing sugar of the seaweed sweets were 31,57%, 44,79% respectively. Abstract

The research was conducted in December 2012 in Tanjung Balai AsahanCity of North Sumatera Province. This research aim was to know the density of A.granosa. The research used survey method. Collection of A. granosa wasconducted once, that is when ebb period. The sampling was based on the quadrantof 1x1 m² lied on the transect line. Each quadrant was divided into 25 subquadrants with each of 20x20 cm².The results showed that the high abundance was recorded at the middleintertidal zone of station I with the average of 48.3 ind/m². There was nodifference in the cockle density between the upper and middle zones. The t testshowed with the result of 0.603 > 0.05 meaning that there was no diffrencebetween the two zones.Keyword : Anadara granosa, Abudance, Tanjung Balai Asahan, Intertidal

Abstract

This study was conducted on May 27 to June 3, 2013 on the island of Aceh Singkil Palambak Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. The purpose of study is to analyze the potential of tourism in Palambak as a marine tourism in the concept of ecotourism as well as analyze and formulate concepts and strategies Palambak Island marine tourism development.Based on the analysis, the island has hight potential to serve as a national and international marine ecotourism based on the aspects of chemical physics parameters oseonografi, geology and geomorphology, depth and slope of the beach, type of beach substrate, climate coastal ecosystems, historical value, based on an overview tour players, and the values of WTP and WTA. The concept of ecotourism (ecoturism). Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the effect of adding to the quality of fish offal sauce catfish asfermentation medium. fish offal as much as 800 grams and 400 grams of catfish fillet meatobtained from one of the markets in Pekanbaru. Fish offal will be fermented for 4 days byadministering a combination of 4 different types of salt and crude enzyme bromelain which is A1(salt 20% and 20% crude enzyme bromelain), A2 (salt 20% and 30% crude enzyme bromelain),A3 (salt 30% and 20% crude enzyme bromelain), A4 (salt 30% and 30% crude enzymebromelain). Solution of fermented fish offal will be used as a fermentation medium to view theeffect on the quality of pangasius fish sauce enzymatically for 3 days. the quality of the finalproduct was observed on organoleptic, protein content, NPN levels, pH levels, and total bacterialcolonies. the results of research showed that the combination of salt 30% and 20% crude enzymebromelain to be the best in the organoleptic test on the value of color and odor. While, theprotein levels A2 to be the best treatment and the levels of NPN A3 is the best treatment and thetotal value of bacterial colonies on the A1 treatment had the highest colony plate count. Fishsauce contains: a minimum of 2% protein, 102 APM coliform bacteria / g, total plate count 103colonies / g.

Abstract

The research was conducted in March 2013 in PT. ASSA Sibolga, NorthSumatra Province. The method used in this study is a survey of 15 purse seinevessels were chosen by purposive sampling. This study aims to determine thelevel of efficiency of the charging provisions. The result of this research can beinformation for who needthis file.The results showed that the efficiency of the charging provisions obtainedsix independent variables that affect the efficiency of the charging time is timewasted supplies, ice cubes, fresh water, the size of the vessel, the fishing trip andfuel. Based on the multiple linear regression analysis obtained values of r = 0.678and R2 = 67.8% (independent variable that diversity contributes to the diversity inthe values of supplies charging efficiency of 67.8%).Keywords: private port, purse seine, efficiency charging time supplies

Abstract

Pangasius polyuranodon Blkr is Indonesia’s endemic spesies which need to bedomesticated for species preservation. The aim of this research is to find out thetechnique to domesticate P. polyuranodon Blkr from nature habitat and keep it incontrol aquaculture system, as well as also to apply resirculation system inkeeping it so that water quality is maintained well in order to support P.polyuranodon Blkr life. The method used in this research is experiment by usingComplete Random Design (CRD), where the treatments were P0 = unfilteredresirculation, P1 = sponge filter resirculation, P2 = active charcoal filterresirculation and P3 = zeolite filter resirculation. The result of this research is P.polyuranodon Blkr enable to domesticated in control aquaculture system. Thebest treatment from this research is P3 with amonia range from 0,08 – 0,11 mg/L,nitrat range is between 0,07 – 0,11 mg/L and nitrite range between 0,07 – 0,09mg/L. The P3’s treatment produce absolute growth of 9,24 g, the increase ofspecific growth 1,76%, the growth of biomass of 62,63 gr, the feeding efficiency28,06% and survival rate of 86,66%.Keywords: Pangasius polyuranodon Blkr, domestication, filterd resirculation,water quality, survival rate.

Abstract

A study of mangrove forests in Sekilak Coastal Batam Riau Islands was conducted in February 2014. The aim of this study was to determine the species composition, dominant species of mangrove and conditions in Batam Sekilak Beach. The survey method was used in this reaserch, where the observations were made with the belt transect method / belt transects. In the mangrove ecosystem was found 5 species of mangrove, included 3 families : Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Xylocarpus granatum, and Lumnitzera littorea. Importance values was highest on the group tree Rhizophora mucronata 136,79% (Station 1), the highest importance values at station 2 was 103,37% and station 3 was 95,81%. In the group of seedling the highest INP was Rhizophora apiculata (163.68%) at Station 1, at station 2 on Rhizophora mucronata with INP 120,60%, and the highest INP at station 3, Rhizophora apiculata was 110,95%. Conditions of mangrove ecosystem at Station 1 can be categorized damaged by the criteria rarely. Station 2 and Station 3 in good condition with moderate criteria.Keywords: Mangrove, Sekilak Beach, Batam
