Abstract

ABSTRACTThe Outlet Waters of the Koto Panjang Reservoir get an abundance of water from the Koto Panjang Reservoir. The reservoir is used for fishing, plantation and other activities that have the potential to cause pollution, especially by heavy metals.Heavy metals are very dangerous because they cannot be destroyed by living things. This study aims to determine the heavy metal content of Pb in the organs (gills, kidneys, muscles) of baung fish (Hemibagrus mumurus) at the Outlet of the Koto Panjang Reservoir, Lubang Kolam, Kampar Regency. This research was conducted using a survey method by observing and taking samples of baung fish and water quality parameters (temperature, pH, depth, brightness, DO and CO2) from the Outlet flow of the Koto Panjang Reservoir. The content of heavy metal Pb was analyzed by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer at the UPT Construction Materials Laboratory of the PUPR Office of Riau Province. This research was conducted in August-December 2020.The results showed that the average heavy metal content of Pb in the kidneys of baung fish was 0.032 mg/kg, gills was 0.026 mg/kg and muscles were 0.007 mg/kg. It was concluded that the Pb content in baung fish was in accordance with SNI 7387:2009 and the fish was fit for consumption. Keywords: Hemibagrus nemurus, heavy metal, Pb, Koto Panjang Reservoir Outlet

Abstract

ABSTRACTCunang fish is one of the sea fish which is rich in protein. The meat found in cunang fish is useful in making fish protein hydrolyzates. This study aims to look at the protein hydrolyzate of cunang fish based on dissolved protein. The research methods used were experimental and non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatments used were different papain enzymes: 2% (P1), 4% (P2) and 6% (P3). The parameters observed consisted of analysis of dissolved protein by Bradford method on protein hydrolyzate of cunang fish. The results showed that the proximate levels of cunang fish meat was ash 15,15%, water content 73,95%, protein content 73,15% and fat content 1,93%. The concentration of papain enzyme had a significant effect on the dissolved protein content of cunang fish protein hydrolyzate, with the value of dissolved protein content  P1 was 7.30%,  P2 was 8.77% while P3 was 11.64%.Keyword: fish protein hydrolyzate, papain enzyme, bradforod

Abstract

AbstractSea cucumber is a species that has high economic value if it is used properly. The habitat that sea cucumbers tend to prefer is the bottom of the water with a substrate of mud or sand, such as those in Teluk Tempurung, Bukit Tambun Tulang Village. To find out the level of preference for an organism to its habitat, it is necessary to look at the distribution pattern of the organism it self. This research aims to determine the distribution and density ofHolothuria atra and also it’s ecological condition of Teluk Tempurung. The method used in this research  is a swept area (area sweeping) which is called a belt transect. This method was used to observe biota in a certain area. There are 3 transects for sea cucumber observation with a transect length of 50 meter, on each transect there are 3 plots measuring 5x5 meter. Observations were made in three repetitions. The type of sea cucumber found in the waters of Teluk Tempurung is Holothuria atra with a density ranging from 0.329 to 0.404 (organisms/ m2). Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the distribution pattern of Holothuria atra in Teluk Tempurung, Bukit Tambun Tulang Village is clustered. Keywords: Substrate, Seagrass Meadows, Coral Reefs, Habitat.

Abstract

ABSTRACTAlong the watershed of the Siak River, many anthropogenic activities produce pollutant that enter the water and thus decrease the quallity of the water in that river. To understand the water quality of the river based on plankton community, a study has been conducted in December 2019. Samplings were conducted 3 times, in 3 sampling points, once/ week. The plankton were then identified and counted. Results shown that there were 40 species on phytoplankton presence, they were consisted of 6 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae (11 species), Clorophyceae (19 species), Cyanophyceae          (7 species), Dinophyceae (1 species), euglenophyceae (1 species) and chrysophyceae (1species). The zooplankton presence was 5 species (3 classes) and they were consisted Rotifers (2 species), Cepepoda (2species) and Branchiopoda (1 species). Water quality parameter values were as follow: temperature 27-30 0C, transparency 24-32 cm, pH 5, current speed 0.33-0.43 m/s, DO 4.36-5.12 mg/L, CO2 10.64-13.98 mg/L, nitrat 0.22-0.42 mg/L, phosphate 0.18-0.20 mg/L. The number of the plankton presence indicates that water in the upstream of the Siak River can be categorized as oligotrophic. Keywords: Phytoplankton, zooplankton, plankton population,  oligotrophic water         quality

Abstract

ABSTRACTPhytoplankton is primary producer and as well as natural food and has an important role in the water. This research was conducted in December 2020 in Tanjung Kudu Lake and Parit Lake. There were three stations, namely Station 1 (inlet), Station 2 (in the middle of the lake), and Station 3 (end of the lake). Sampling was done 3 times one/week. Water quality parameters measure were temperature, transparency, depth, pH, dissolved oxygen, CO2, nitrate, and phosphate. Result shown there were 26 types of phytoplankton in Tanjung Kudu Lake, and 29 species in Parit Lake. The abundance of phytoplankton in Lake Tanjung Kudu was 18,720-37,700 cells/L, and the abundance of phytoplankton in Lake Parit was 19,760-45,500 cells/L. Water quality parameter such as transparency 48.5-59 cm, temperature 29.3-29.6oC, pH 5.3-5.8, dissolved oxygen 3.42-4.57 mg/L, CO2 11.98-13.98 mg/L, nitrate 0.035-0.038 mg/L and phosphate 0.027-0.048 mg/L in Lake Tanjung Kudu where as in Lake Parit the transparency was 59-65.67 cm, temperature 29.3-9.8oC, pH 5-6, dissolved oxygen 4.19-5.18 mg/L, CO2 10.66-13.32 mg/L, nitrate 0.03-0.04 mg/L and phosphate 0.036-0.039 mg/L. Abstract

ABSTRACTBelontia hasselti is commonly found in the Banjiran Swamp of the Air Hitam River. A study aims to understand the reproductive biology of B. hasselti has been conducted from February to March 2018. Fish sampling were conducted once / 2 weeks. Parameters measured were sex ratio, gonad maturity level, gonad somatic index (GSI), fecundity and egg diameter. Totally 100 fishes (46 males and 54 females) were captured, they were 70.8 – 130.05 mm TL and 7.44 – 41.59 gr BW. Male has slimmer body, darker body color than those of the female. Sex ratio of males and females was 1:1. In each sampling time there were  male fishes with 1st,2nd and 3rd maturity level, while the female fishes are in 1st ,2nd,3rd and 4th maturity levels. The GSI of male ranged from 0.20 – 1.14%, while that of the female is 0.75 – 28.94%. The fecundity is around 4,191 – 4,350 eggs/fish, and egg diameter was 0.8-1 mm.Keywords: Sex ratio, gonad maturity level, gonad somatic index, fecundity
