Abstract

In this research is described the bark conveyor calculations that must be performed in accordancewhit theories exist in the literature and the real situation. This is done to avoid failure during the ongoing production process. Bark conveyor has a length of 85 meters, a slope angle of 16 °, speed of 1.3 m/s and a payload capacity of 244 tons/hour. The analysis includes analysis of bark belt conveyor, idler rollers, pulleys, power motor, and a belt take-up. From thecalculations were resulted the weight belt at 11,286 kg/m,an idler rollers outside diameter of 108 mm,drive pulley diameter of 500 mm, tail pulley diameter of 400 mm, the motor power of 62,32 kW and length of belt take up by 0,85 m. This was influenced by the parameters in the calculation.Keyword : bark conveyor, belt, roller idler, drive motor.

Abstract

The current building structure cannot be separated from the risk of fire. So that a research is needed to study the impact of fire hazard on building structures. The purpose of this research is to analyze the form of damage that occurs on reinforced concrete (RC) beam after experiencing a fire. The test specimens used are RC beam with the cross section size 10 x 20 cm and with the length of span of 125 cm. The concrete strength planned in this study is 20 MPa. The combustion process was carried out in a local brick factory furnace with a fire duration of 30 minutes and 60 minutes. The results showed that there was a damage the RC beam in the form of cracks, spalling, and discoloration. The width of the crack measured in RC beam varying from 0.5 - 3 mm. It was also find that spalling width seen at RC beam was 10 cm, it was considend that these beam had been considered as desctructive. More over the color on the concrete surface changed to grayish white. The color changes indicated that the RC bem had been exposed to a temperatures between 600C-900C.Keyword : reinforced concrete beam, cracks, spalling, color change

Abstract

Groundwater is the largest source of water that contain manganese (Mn). One method that can be used to decrease manganese (Mn) is aeration using tray aerator. Tray aerator can increase the air contact time with water by letting the water flow down on a cross section. This study aims to determine the ability of tray aerator in removing manganese (Mn) concentrations in variations number of trays (3, 5, and 7 tray) and hole diameter (2 mm, 4 mm, and 6 mm). The results showed that the best removal efficiency of manganese (Mn) was occurred in variation of 7 tray diameter of 2 mm pit at 99,65%.Keywords: Aeration, Groundwater, Manganese, Tray aerator

Abstract

Chitosan is derived from chitin compound used in the biomedical field. Chitosan can be synthesized from ebi waste using chemical methods through the deproteination, demineralization and the deacetylation processes. The aims of this study are to determine the effect of NaOH concentration on the degree of deacetylation chitosan synthesis and to determine the model that can describe the kinetics reaction via Shrinking Core Model (SCM) approach. The procedure of research was started by ebi waste size reduction. Ebi powder was reacted with NaOH 3.5% (deproteination), ratio 1:10 (w/v) for 2 hours stirring by 150 rpm. The deproteination product was reacted with HCl 1 N (demineralization), ratio 1:15 (w/v) for 1 hour stirring by 150 rpm. Then the product was reacted using NaOH 40%, 50%, and 60% (deacetylation), ratio 1:20 (w/v) at a temperature of 120oC with stirring by 150 rpm for 2 hours. Samples were taken every 10 minutes rise as much as 10 mL, washed until pH neutral and it dried. Deacetylation degree of chitosan was analyzed using acid-base titration method. The results showed that the higher the concentration, the higher the degree of deacetylation of the chitosan will be namely 72.63% to 79.32% at a temperature of 120oC. The best reaction kinetics model to describe the occur in the synthesize of chitosan was a model 2, that was a layer (chitosan) to control with the equation as:Model 2 is the best kinetic’s model with shrinking reacted core model on synthesize of citosan and ebi waste.Keywords: deacetylation, reaction kinetics, chitosan, waste ebi, shrinkingcore model.

Abstract

Biogas from Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) is one of renewable energy resources that can be used to reduce theuse of fossil energy in satisfying the electricity needs. At biogas power plant, gas engine is an importantcomponent which functions to convert the energy contained biogas into mechanical energy to drive the electricgenerator. Because of its important function, the performance of the gas engine needs to be maintained in orderto remain well operated. In addition to maintaining the performance of gas engine, steps in improving theefficiency of gas engine energy usage also need to be done in order to become more efficient. Efficiency of thegas engine depends on the overall efficiency of cylinders gas engine in order to convert the energy of fuel intowork. Energy analysis is needed to know the efficiency of multi-cylinder gas engine at biogas power plant, so itcan be known the gas engine performance and can be used for further analysis in increasing the efficiency of theuse of renewable energy sources (biogas) in gas engine. The purpose of this research was to know the energy orthermal efficiency of gas engine. Variables used in the analysis were a composition of biogas, flow rate ofbiogas, a temperature of gas mixture entering the gas engine and temperature of exhaust gas. The energyanalysis result showed that the efficiency of all cylinders varies and the greatest energy or thermal efficiency ofgas engine is on 5th and 10th cylinder (56.29%) and lowest in 8th cylinder (56.17%). Abstract

Quality of Service (QoS) is a performance indicator on many communication systems. The Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) is a part of the communication system. One of approach to find out QoS performance indicator for MPLS is using of a Mikrotik router. The network testing scenario using bus topology, where different types of traffic is delivered audio and video streaming that has a variety of different file sizes. The first scenario involving 1 client to send and the other scenario involving 2 client to send. The result show that MPLS network meets ITU-T G.114 standards where the average accepted delay for packet data transmission is less than 150 ms, in the simulation results indicates that the delay value is below of 150 ms in both scenarios. The value of packet loss based on ITU-T G.1010 standard is less than 1% where the simulation results indicate that packet loss value is below 1% in both scenarios. Overall, the MPLS network is proven to serve a heavy multimedia traffic.Keywords : MPLS, OSPF, QoS, multimedia traffic

Abstract

Biomass gasification is a very complex thermo chemical process which involves the reaction of a chemical reaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the reactor dimensions as a reference in making a gaifier made from empty fruit bunches by obtain optimum working conditions and simulate CH4, CO, dan H2 pruducts in the reactor by varying the amount and position of air entering the reactor. This researh utilized software GAMBIT 2.4.6 for meshing and boundary identification and FLUENT 6.3.26 for simulation. Mass flow rate of feed empty fruit bunches waste in the simulation was 10 kg/jam with variations of air equivalence ratio ie 0.2, 0.25, 0.3 and the number of nozzles 2,3 and 4. From the simulations results, the highest combustible gas was obtained when the variable of ER value = 0.3 and number of nozel 2 ie CO = 18.53 %, H2 = 0.9 % and CH4 = 0.0365 % with HHV = 24.85 kJ/Nm3.Keywords : Empty Palm Bunches, Gasification, CFD, FLUENT

Abstract

Induction motor plays an important role in the industrial realm that serves as a driving parts such as the conveyor, lathes and others. Regarding to this important role, the early detection of induction motor damage becomes important for system operation, so that it could not stopped without scheduled. The types of damage that often occur in induction motor are mechanical unbalance, rotor damage and bearing damage. The usual detection method which uses vibration measurments has some disadvanteages such as it is very expensive, physical contact with the induction motor that occurs and the sensors are less heat resistant on induction motor. The author uses sound signal detection method that is cheaper regarding to the cost, it has no physiscal contact with the induction motor and heat resistant. The sound signal is generated by the exicitation of the artificial damage which is provided to the induction motor. Artificial damage is given by damaging the bearing, rotor and mass unbalance. Sound signal data from artificial damage test result on induction motor is processed by using fast fourier transform method. The result of the research obtains the amplitude increased number for one time motor rotation 2970 rpm (1xrpm) is 49.5 Hz, 144.5 Hz for bearing damage frequency and 78.5 Hz for the rotor damage frequency.Keywords : Induction motor, mechanical unbalance, bearing, rotor, signal sound, fast fourier transform

Abstract

Project PLTU RIAU 2x110 MW is located in Tenayan Raya regency, Pekanbaru, Riau province. The project proposed to support energy demand especially for Riau Province in line to support a national program in order to increase national electricity ratio. This projectneeds high funding to construct therefore, it is necessary for the Government to study and analyze some aspects including financial. 30 % of the project funds came from PT PLN (Persero) equity equal to Rp995.646.470.749,47 while the other 70% which isRp2.323.175.098.415,43 came from loan. Feasibility analysis represents that Net Present Value (NPV) is Rp515.754.288.356,69, Benefit Cost Ratio is 1,05, Internal Rate of Return is12.62%, whereas Payback period is 16 years and 3 months, it represents that this project is feasible. The sensitivity analysis showed that the investment will be sensitive at 177,26%, thebenefit will be sensitive at 93%, the cost at 109% from the original value, and interest will be sensitive at 12,62%. As per deterministic sensitivity analyses from the several variables indicated that the highest to lowest influences in sequence is (1) tariff, (2) r class tariff, (3) operational and maintenance cost, (4) exchange rate, and as per the regression value also indicated that (1) tariff, (2) r class tariff, (3) operational and maintenance cost, (4) exchange rate, has the effect from the highest to lowest variable.Keywords: Finansial Analisys, Net Present Value, Benefit Cost Ratio, Internal Rate of Return, Payback period, Sentivity Analysis.

Abstract

ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) occurs in Indonesia since 2016. It is necessary for Indonesia to prepare themselves. Besides softskill and knowledge, foreign language ability must be inconcern. To learn foreign language, it needs a proper place, such as Language Education Center. Language Education Center has spaces that its function in accordance with the activities to learntheory, discussion, visual, laboratory, and games that can be used by students. Kenzo Tange design principles are used in this design of the Language Education Center which can support design byexposing the structure and using glass for space separators.The concept applied into this design is Exposed All the Things, which is taken from the vision of this Language Education Center. Thisconcept is applied by exposing what inside the building itself, such as columns, beams, open spaces, using a free-ornament façade, and a simple interior design.
