Abstract

Previous researchers have much success using the model Artificial Neural Network (ANN) as a forecasting model for hydrological analysis. Reliability of ANN models need to be tested, especially to farecast of the tidal. In this research, Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) models which built using data tidal observations in Tanjung Buton (2004). The result of tidal forecasting by using ANN models show excellent results with value the test statistic parameters of the correlation coefficient (R) more than 0.8774 that is in category of very strong correlation, statistic parameters of Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) 0.4362 m, and the test parameters of the average valuation relative error by 11.57%. Abstract

Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) is highly polluting wastewater with high chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) in which can caused severe pollution to the environment, typically pollution to water resources. On the other hand, POME was identified as potential source to generate renewable bioenergy through anaerobic digestion. Anaerobic processes need seeding and acclimatization so the microorganism could be adapted. The acclimatization process used circulating batch reactor with worked volume 25 L and glucose and sequential waste ratio of wastewater 50:50 and 0:100 (% V/V). This research observed degradation of soluble COD and growth of VSS. Experiment results showed microbial consortium has been able to adapt to the new environment and degrade organic matter along with increasing waste volume ratio and decreasing glucose volume ratio.Keywords: Acclimatization, circulating batch reactor, Palm Oil Mill Effluent, Chemical Oxygen Demand, Volatile Suspended Solids

Abstract

Electric arc welding wrapped electrodes or known as SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) is one of the welding technologies which have several advantages such as large currents that can be varied as a heat source, and easy to use in various welding positions. In order to get good welding, the angle and speed of welding must be concerned. This study uses a sliding adaptive vertical system that varies the welding speed and angle. Observation was done by observing visually and mechanical properties were tested by a tensile test. The material used low steel (mild steel), the seam used V steam with angle 60 ° and the electrode used the E6013 KOBE RB-26 electrode with 3.2 mm diameter. This study used 9 specimens with the lowest tensile strength of 468.11 Mpa and the highest value is 496.53 Mpa. Micro structure is influenced by several factors such as heat input, cooling rate, weld speed, and current strength. In this study the weld metal area has a large grain structure than base metal and HAZ (Heat Affected Zone).Keywords: smaw welding, sliding adaptive vertical, electrode angle, HAZ.

Abstract

Kengo Kuma was one of Japanese architects who based on design principles has always conscribed to human and natural interconnections to try a balance. Some of predominant characters of the Kuma are Transcendence, Passivity, Particilization , Temporality , and Subject- Object Relationship. Today one of the phenomena that still exixts is women’s chance inequality. Women’s opportunity building is a place in handling activities of coaching, empowerment and women’s protection. The concepts of the building is Hitoe (the name of the cherry blossoms which has five petals), selection of the concepts based on a Kuma’s who always inspired from nature. Abstract

Indonesia has high humidity intensity. This causes the lightning strike density on Indonesia be high too. Lightning strikes can damage electrical equipment and transmission networks, especially 275 kV Air Line of Extra High Voltage (SUTET), because it has a high towers that is susceptible to lightning strikes. Therefore, lightning protection with arrester is needed. This study, will examine the influence of installation variations of arrester based on classification towers at T1,T3,T5,T7,T9, and T2,T4,T6,T8,T10, variations in stroke current (10 kA, 30 kA, 60 kA, and 100 kA), and variations in lightning strike position (T1, T5, and T10) by using ATP-EMTP software. The analysis process is done by modeling all parameters of the transmission line and power plant. The results of this study are if lightning strikes a particular towers, the voltage on the towers will be higher than the other towers, the greater lightning impulse current, the greater the voltage that appears on its phase voltage; and so the arresters used for this conditions at T2, T4,T4, T8, and T10 are more efficient in terms of reducing the voltage.Keywords : lightning arrester , extra high voltage, surge arrester, drop voltage, ATP

Abstract

The development of communication and information technology grows rapidly at this time is very influential in changing people's lifestyle in various fields, such as education. In Academic Atmosphere, especially learning process in Senior High Schools level currently is using the 2013 Curriculum. By following the development of technology can be accepted by students, such as Power Point (PPT) and Three-dimensional (3D) animation that uses interactive mobile devices. One of learning media based on technology is Augmented Reality (AR) technology, this technology combines two-dimensional (2D) or 3D virtual objects into the real-world environment. Inside of it, there is an additional reality that can be applied in all senses, including hearing and senses. In Senior High School Level, one of the subjects is Biology, which a theory that reveals students must use higher understanding level to understand it. That theory is called excretory system in human lung. Abstract

When designing a car, it is very important to pay attention to the construction and design of the vehicle. This is useful for getting the security and comfort of users in driving a car. In this study, car body design must have the smallest drag coefficient possible. if the vehicle has a large drag coefficient value, it has a large influence on the efficiency or performance of the vehicle, especially in cars with a large Cd value that will greatly affect vehicle speed. This is useful for minimizing the fuel used, and allows the vehicle to reduce the friction forces caused by air while driving. To get drag coefficients, Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) software is used. The software used is Solidworks Flow Simulation. From the results of aerodynamic simulations on four alternative car bodies carried out in this study, the smallest Cd (Coefficient Drag) is the second car body model, which has a Drag Coefficient (Cd) = 0.21Keywords: Car, Aerodynamics, Vehicle Dynamics, Drag Coefficient

Abstract

Quail eggshells CaO based catalyst with the addition of fly ash has been successfully synthesized for production of biodiesel from palm oil off-grade. Quail eggshells waste modificated of solid base catalyst through calcination, hydration, dehydration methods with fly ash through impregnation method to load calcium oxide with quail eggshells as precursor.The catalyst was characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and basic strength while the characterization of biodiesel was by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). The catalyst was synthesized by calcining the quail eggshells as source of CaCO3 at calcination temperature of 900 oC for 2,5 hours. The CaO was then supported by fly ash. The catalyst with the highest catalytic activity was obtained at dehydration temperature of 500 oC and the dehydration time of 4 hours with transesterification reaction conditions of a molar ratio of methanol/oil 6:1, catalyst concetration of 6%-b oil and temperature of 70 °C for 2 hours with yield biodiesel results reached 85,12%.Keyword: biodiesel, calcium oxide, catalysts, fly ash, transesterification

Abstract

This research was conducted to design wind tunnels that will later be used to support research burning peat soil. Wind tunnel is a subsonic type open system wind tunnel. Wind tunnel made in this study consist of several parts namely, honey comb, settling chamber, contraction, test chamber and diffuser. Size cross section testing chamber is 19.8 cm x 19.8 cm with a length of 39.6 cm. The size of the wind tunnels is adjusted to the wind speed at Riau area which is equal to 3 m/s. In testing it is seen a phenomenon wind flow that occurs and also determines the wind speed of testing chamber. At wind speeds of 3 m/s the flow phenomenon that occurs is flow laminar and speed of wind flow rate at testing chamber at 1.7 m/s.Keywords: wind velocity, open system wind tunnel

Abstract

Empty fruit bunches (EFB) can be used as alternative energy source by using torrefaction process. Torrefaction is a pre-treatment process of biomass into solid fuel within temperature range of 200-300oC in an inert condition. The Torrefaction process research aims to produce solid fuel from EFB and study the effect of process variabel towards characteristic of solid fuel resulted. Torrefaction of empty fruit bunch was using fixed bed horizontal reactor with temperature (250-300oC) and torrefaction time (15-45 minute). Product quality resulted was calorific value, mass yield, energy yield and proximate (moisture content, ash content, volatile content and fixed carbon). The result obtained for calorific value in range was 19883.03-23165.96 kJ/kg, mass yield was 47.93-71.64 %, and energy yield was 65.09-86.39 %. 17091.03-20697.13 kJ/kg, mass yield was 35.95-59.91 %, and energy yield was 50.97-72.91 %. Proximate analysis resulted in the form of moisture content was 0.40-0.73 %, ash content was 8.75-10.16 %, volatile content was 35.94-64.48 %, and fixed carbon was 26.78-53.90 %. From the result obtained, the effect of rising temperature and torrefaction time give linier effects toward the product quality. Increased temperature and torrefaction time give enhancement to the calorific value, ash content, and fixed carbon.Keywords: biomass, empty fruit bunches, solid fuel, torrefaction.
