Abstract

Pavement Surface Evaluation System according to the types of road damages which in are seatnce generally used by visual approximation methods in are seatenceBina Marga method, Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method, and Pavement Surface Evaluation and Rating System (PASER) method. This research aims to analyze the comparisons between each method in evaluating Garuda Sakti Street, Pekanbaru. Thetypes of damages which were found at the location are: alligator cracks, longitudinal cracks, grade segregation, ruts, grade depression, road patches, potholes, and edgecracks. According to Bina Marga method, the highest damages record was grade segregation with the magnitude of 134,75% from total area of survey location, and thelowest record was grade depression with the magnitude of 0,70% which produced the same priority value i.e. 6 and could be classified with periodic maintenance program.All the severe damages was found at STA 100-200 m with the PCI = 16 (very poor), the 3rd priority for Enhancement program, and the PASER = 3 could be classified as Structural Repair and Overlay. The evaluation results for Garuda Sakti Street at STA 00+000-01+000 m by using Bina Marga method yielded the priority score of 43 and could be classified as routine maintenance program category, with PCI of 70,1 in good category and PASER of 5 in Sealcoat addition category.Keywords : pavement condition evaluation, Bina Marga method, PCI method, andPASER method.

Abstract

Chitosan is a biopolymer produced from the chitin deacetylation process that is widely present in the outer skin of crustacean animals such as shrimp and crabs. This study aims to determine the effect of temperature and reaction time on the deacetylation process and chitosan characterization analysis (yield, moisture content, ash content, and deacetylation degree). Crab shell crab with size of 100 mesh. The chitin found in the crab shell powder was isolated by deproteinization and demineralization processes. The resulting chitin is then transformed into chitosan by deacetylation process under operating conditions at 100 °C, 110 °C and 120 °C, 50% NaOH concentration, chitin mass ratio and NaOH volume 1:20 (b / v), stirring rate 150 rpm, and reaction time of 1 hour, 2 hours and 3 hours. The results showed that the higher the temperature and the duration of reaction time caused an increase in the degree of deacetylation and a decrease in yield and ash content, while the water content had no effect. Chitosan obtained has a yield of 38.14 - 60.36%, moisture content of 1.78 - 3.57%, ash content 0.75-1.75% and deacetylation degree 72,47 – 86,75%.Keywords: biopolymer, chitin, chitosan, deacetylation, deacetylation degree

Abstract

Generally, coconut farmers in areas of Indragiri Hilir have not exploited waste plantation of coconut in theform of coir. There is only a small portion of them utilize the coir to be processed further but the processing ismanually or traditionally. Whereas coconut husk if it is processed properly that can increase the economicvalue of the coir and also can support the economic community. To overcome these problems, the design ofcoconut coir machine is conduced in this research. This design uses the method of Quality FunctionDeployment (QFD) as the design basis that aims to get the design parameters in accordance with the wishes ofthe community. From the ranking of house of quality (HOQ) which become the main priority in design of thiscoconut coir decomposer machine is ergonomic design, with the total value of importance of 159. The secondpriority is the tool dimension with the total value of importance of 93.12, And the third priority is the selectionof materials and components supporting the engineers of coconut coir, with a total value of interest 89.75. Theselection of the main material and components are: selection of the decomposer blade, selection of the drivingmotor, selection of the pulleys and belts, the selection of the shaft, the choice of bearings, the choice of steelplate, the selection of the profi L steel.Keywords : Coconut coir machine, QFD, HOQ

Abstract

The Artificial Neural Network (ANN) method is a computationally soft method that can predict water levels, one of them being for early warning of peatland fires. It is necessary to prove the performance of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to predict the water level in Bengkalis Island, Riau Province. In this research, we use observation data using HOBOwater Logger level for 2014 data. Data usage was conducted trought time series of 1 day period with the maximum value, test and validation with Artificial Neural Network (ANN) Model is Backpropagation Algorithm. The result of simulation of water level in Artificial Neural Network (ANN) method in MATLAB software, yields statistical value of correlation coefficient (R) with very strong category. In the time series scheme the period of 1 day in maximum time to 24 hours (H1t + 24) produces correlation coefficient (R) of 0.995929. Abstract

Green school is an informal school wich focus on character education for children about the preservation of the nature coast. For that the green school of bahari bandar bakau became a place in accordance with the curriculum of basic education to optimize green school of bandar bakau informal standards become formal. In the design this green school of bahari bandar bakau will be done with the contextual approach coastal architecture within the Dumai coastal areas, also uses the concept of archipelago built space values so that the green school can remember and demonstrated the importance values of the archipelago built space. Abstract

The planning of multi-story steel portal frame needs to watch for the resulted structure response due to the planning of earthquake-resistant building is needed in the earthquake-vulnerable area such as Indonesia. One of the method used to predict structure response of multi-story steel portal frame is Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The structure used to get the structure response is 10-story steel portal frame, modeled with the help of a element software and earthquake spectrum response analysis method according to SNI 1726-2012. Analyzing is conducted on each capital city of the 34 provinces with 3 different soil types, resulting in 102 data sets. It is therefore concluded that biggest values of movement response and structure velocity are, respectively, 0,0497 m and 0,0292 m/s in the city of Palu, and then the biggest value of structure acceleration is 2,15932 m/s2 on Palu. The accuracy level reaches 99% with 816 training data sets and Mean-Squared Errors (MSE) value is 0,00485. Therefore, it is concluded that ANN can predict multi-story steel portal frame response on all capital cities in Indonesia.Keyword : Multi-story steel portal frame, structure response, Artificial Neural Network

Abstract

Hydroxyapatite was a material that could be used as drug delivery in cancer by doxorubicin adsorbed on to hydroxyapatities surface. The purpose of this research were to study the effect of variation of pH and ratio DOX-HA : PBS on speed release. HA was suspended in 10 ml of DOX (100 ppm) strirred using a magnetic stirrer with speed 250 rpm at temperature 37ºC for 24 hours. After that it filtered at vacuum pressure for 24 hours. The release of DOX from 270 mg HA powder were soaked in 350 ml of solution PBS (pH 5,6 dan 7,4). The samples were taken every two hours until 120 hours. The concentration of DOX’s released were analyzed by UV-Vis. Furthermore, the DOX-HA powder were characterized with FTIR. There was HA and DOX function group which meant, there were any DOX’s adsorbed and released from HA used powder. If higher pH and more HA powder were used, would effect the released of DOX were more effective. The released in the first 40 hours of DOX concentration released in PBS was maintained at 1,25 and 6,92 ppm for each pH 7,4 and 5,6. While for mass HA variations maintained at 0,625; 3,541; 4,508; and 4,958 ppm for each 0,2; 0,3; 0,4 dan 0,5 gram.Keywords : doxorubicin, drug delivery, hydroxyapatite, phosphat buffered saline, release.

Abstract

Fires are caused by various factors, but generally the factors that cause fires namely human factors and technical factors. University of Riau is one of the educational institutions in Riau Province where there is a risk of fire. This study aims to evaluate and design emergency response systems and fire protection systems in the Faculty of Engineering Building, University of Riau. In evaluating and designing emergency response systems and fire protection systems the authors use references from Minister of Public Works No.26 / PRT / M / 2008, Permen PU No.20 / PRT / M / 2009, SNI, and use the assessment format of the Public Works Research and Development Agency 2005. The method used in this study is a quantitative descriptive method with a case study design, which compares the results of research in the field with applicable regulations. Based on the results of evaluations that have been carried out, the Emergency Response System of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Riau as a whole has not been fulfilled. The Fire Protection Facilities of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Riau Building are overall sufficient. For this reason, it is necessary to procure and improve the Emergency Response and Fire Protection System of the University of Riau's Faculty of Engineering Building as well as the maintenance of the available systems.Keywords: Fire, Evaluation, Emergency Response System, Fire Protection System

Abstract

Research on the application of the soil resistance test using the Geoelectric method was carried out on a public road near the white bridge of Silaing Bawah Village, Padang Panjang City, West Sumatra. Research with the Geoelectric method aims to obtain a soil resistivity map to provide information about soil and rock resistivity in the underground layers that can be analyzed in the field of Earth science. To find out the difference in resistivity of each soil layer, a 2D visual section in the form of color visuals is displayed using Res2Dinv software using the Dipole-dipole configuration. On the first track of ground resistivity map, the resistivity value A <4.655 Ωm - H> 635.5 Ωm and on the second track of ground resistivity map, the resistivity value of A <8.345 8.3m - H> 359 Ωm.Keywords: Dipole-dipole configuration, Geoelectric, Map of soil resistivity.

Abstract

Pelalawan has several attractions, and Bono Waves in Ogis Beach Village Teluk Meranti Sub-district is one of them. However, these attractions are not supported by sufficient facilities, one of which is a residential resort. This design has a close connection with the resort destination in Ogis Beach that is with Coastal Architecture Approach. In addition, the design of tourist attraction area Ogis Beach Beach Bono will apply the concept of "Rhythmic Rising Waves" which is the main basic concept in the design. In this concept there are several applications of the design of the nature of waves, such as masses and roofs adapted from the nature of waves that have a low rhyming high. The color of the building is adapted from the color of the kampar river like the color of wood is brown. Then the circulation in the building that is created does not have a partition, so it can surprise people who see it. This design has a design that applies the principle of coastal architecture and the concept taken from the nature of the waves. By using some application of the concept, this design can minimize the negative influence gained from coastal tourism area ogis estuary bono.
