Abstract

Fly ash as a substitute for cement shows potential waste utilization. The objective of the research is to find the optimum parameter to produce geopolymer. Use of fly ash type F from Paiton Probolingo power plant, fine aggregate of sand,NaOH 14M and Na2SiO3 solution. The liquid activator/solid (fly ash) ratio varies 0.3; 0.5 and 0.7 and treatment temperature variations from room temperature (30), 60, 80 and 100 oC and curing time of 3, 7, 14 and 28 days. The modulus activator ratio of Na2SiO3 / NaOH is 2 and the ratio of fly ash to aggregate is 1: 3. Compressive strength obtained 314.20 kg/cm2 at optimum ratio of liquid/solid 0.5 and curing at 80 oC and 28 days.Keywords: Fly ash; Geopolymer; Paving block; Compressive Strength; Modulus.

Abstract

Resak is local wood originated from Indonesia, this wood is classified as class II for its strength and class III for its durability according to (PKKI 1961 NI-5). Three type of connections were observed in this study, they were U1, U2, and U3. U1 was the bolt connection, U2 was the combination of bolt with adhesive on the slice plane, while U3 wasthe combination of bolt with adhesive on the bolt hole. This study oins to study the shear strength of wood connection with respective connection models by being tested using a tool Universal Testing Machine (UTM). The test results showed that the shear strength of the thecombination of bolt with adhesive on the slice plane showed a strength increase of about + 31.02%. For the combination of bolt with adhesive on the bolt hole did not increase, even decreased by -13.86%. the connection bolt and adhesive connection in the slice plane show good gluing performance making it suitable for large capacity connection designs and increase connection reinforcement.Keywords: Wood resak, reinforcement joints, extension joints, bolts, epoxy adhesives.

Abstract

Bagansiapiapi is the capital of Rokan Hilir’s district which are occupied by some activities such as economic sector, marine, agriculture, garden, forest, tourism, and service. Looking by social and culture side, Bagansiapiapi has a famous annual event called Bakar Tongkang. This event makes Bagansiapiapi being visited in tourism sector. Tourism activity related with souvenirs necessary. Itwas being reason why Bagansiapiapi need a place to produce Rokan Hilir unique gift. Handcraft and souvenirs center related with ecotourism as a benefited of natural potential from the site. It expected can be a facilities of recreation and education for learn of Malay culture by applying one of the traditional architecture in Riau, that is Malay Rokan Architecture. By using Malay Rokanarchitecture as a approach for the design, then found a concept is Khazanah Arsitektur Melayu Rokan. The base design idea is Rokan Hilir’s original culture (handcraft and souvenirs). Therefore torise up of Rokan Hilir local characteristic using the traditional house from Malay Rokan Architecture. The concept is applied by transforming traditional house of Malay Rokan into the design process. The results of the transformation from the form of patterns and shapes are applied to the design ofHandcraft center and souvenirs that include zoning, mass order, outdoor planning, mass formation, indoor planning and structure.Key words: Handcraft and Souvenirs Center, Ecotoursm, Form Transformation, Malay Rokan Architecture

Abstract

Sifting is a method of grouping granules, which will be separated into one or several groups, thereby separable between the particles passing through the sieve (fine grain) and remaining in the sieve (coarse grain). Specific grain size that can still pass through the sieve, expressed as a boundary grain. In the process of sieving the solid is dropped or thrown onto the sieving surface. Under-sized or undersized particles, or passes (fines), pass through a sieve opening, medium above size or large (oversized), or tails do not pass in sifting. Sifting From the mechanical making of four sticks and the test of the wheat flour with 100 and 200 mesh using DOL250-2 type AC motor, with time of 5 minutes and 229 rpm rotation to sift the flour weighing 500 gr with stem size 75 mm mesh 100 produce the average production was 446.6 gr and the mesh 200 averaged 134.6 grams with the test three times.Keywords : machine, flour, sieving, mesh.

Abstract

Copper metal pollution (Cu (II)) in the water has a negative impact on people's lives. One effort to reduce the copper metal content is by the adsorption process. The purpose of this study was todetermine the effect of adsorption temperature (30, 40, 50 ° C) and adsorbate concentration (2, 3, 4 mg / L) and to test the adsorption isotherm equilibrium model on the adsorption Cu (II) bycrab shell by model equation approach Langmuir and Freundlich. The results showed if the adsorption temperature rise, the adsorbent adsorption capacity of crab shells (qe) is decreasedand if the concentration is decreased, the adsorbent adsorption capacity of crab shells (qe) is increased. The highest absorption rate was obtained at 30 ° C with a concentration of 4 mg / Lof adsorbate at 1.558 mg / g. The copper metal adsorption mechanism (Cu (II)) by the crab shellhas a match with the Freundlich isoterm model which represents the physical and adsorption Freundlich isoterm model which represents the chemical adsorption.Keywords: Adsorption, Crab Shell, Equilibrium Model, Copper (II)

Abstract

Hydroxyapatite (Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) is a calcium phosphate compound that has been widely used as bone implant material due to its chemical composition which is identical with the natural bone. The aims of this study are to synthesize, characterize and determine the kinetic reactions of the synthesized hydroxyapatite from Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) coral reefs through the precipitation method. Synthesis of hydroxyapatite used the variation temperatures of 30oC; 40oC; 50oC; 60oC with the calcium to phosphate (Ca/P) ratio of 1,67 at pH 9 and 11. The reactants were stirred for 24 hours, where the samples were taken every 10 minutes at first hour to determine the rate of kinetic and aged for 24 hours. Concentration of Ca in filtrate was analysed by using AAS method. The synthesized hydroxyapatite was characterized by XRD and obtained a hexagonal crystalline structure with size in range of 20 - 25 nm. The kinetic of the synthesized hydroxyapatite followed the pseudo second order equation with the values of reaction rate constants (k) at pH 9 were 0,003 min-1; 0,0055 min-1; 0,0044 min-1; 0,0057 min-1; while for pH 11 were 0,0033 min-1; 0,0069 min-1; 0,0079 min-1; 0,0087min-1.Keywords: coral reefs, hydroxyapatite, PCC, precipitation, reaction kinetics

Abstract

Solar Selective Absorber (SSA) is a thin film at the coating surface of the collector that absorbs solar radiation selectively and convert it into maximum heat energy. Solar selective absorber can be synthesized using sol-gel dip-coating method. The purpose of research is to synthesize the thin film of copper oxide solar selective absorber from copper nitrate precursor using sol-gel dip coating methode, to know the influence dipping-drying cycle variation to absorptance value. Pieces of aluminum with size 2x4x0.5cm were cleaned using a solution of phosphoric acid 10% at temperature 50oC for 10 minutes. Sol precursor was prepared by disolved copper nitrate trihidrate 0,4M and propio nic acid in ethanol. The sol prekursor was stirred for 2 hours at room temperature. The coating was synthesized by varying the number of dipping-drying cycles 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 6x, 8x and 10x, then annealed at temperature 550 ºC for 1 hour. Reflektance spectra in the area of UV-Vis-NIR show that increased cycles of dip-coating increase the value of absorptance (α). The results showed that the highest absorptance value found in coatings which was synthesized using copper oxyde 0.4M at 10x cycles with absorptance (α) = 74.32%.Keywords : dip-coating, energy, film, solar selective absorber, sol-gel

Abstract

The study waterwheel performance has done by utilizing the potentional of water energy source which is found inirrigation channel in Koto Tibun Village, Kampar Subdistrict, Kampar Regency. The purpose of this study is todetermine the achievement of the waterwheel curved undershot type on the irrigation canal. The design has beendone to get a curved angle of 54.21⁰ with a blade length of 0.7 m. The result is obtained from the test is the massof water type (ρ) 972 Kg / m³, the maximum water wheel eaya 244.3736 W at the 5th discharge (Q5) is 0.2221 m³/ s, and the highest efficiency 58.62576% at the discharge 3 (Q3 = 0.1671 m³ / s) with 1.3 rpm and 186.874 W.Achievement of waterwheels curved undershot curve can be seen through the power graph and the efficiency ofthe rotation indicating that the greater the value it will be along with the increase in rotational speed and willdrop at a certain speed of play.Keywords: waterwheel, undershot, curved blade, irrigation, picohydro

Abstract

Traditional market is public facility that must be in every subdistrict. Base on data from Dinas Pasar Pekanbaru, until 2015 Pekanbaru traditional market that managed by government there are 6 units. There are Agus Salim market, Labuh Baru market, Simpang Baru market, Cik Puan market, Rumbai market and Lima Puluh market. Total subdistrict in Pekanbaru city is 12 subdistricts. Therefore Dinas Pasar Pekanbaru must be increase the quantity of traditional market in every subdistrict. It makes pasar kaget grow up. Therefore, Rumbai subdistrict highly require for traditional market. The concept of traditional market design is interaction with nature, building, and human. It’s mean, how to make every element in traditional market area interacting each other. The require of tropical architecture influence in traditional market design is differentiate this market with traditional market that must be exist before. Therefore the market that doing adaption with environment around building, whether nature or circumstance in around building. Design element of Pekanbaru traditional market with tropical architecture approachment is zoning, the mass order, the exterior order, mass form, the interior order, and structure. The concept is applied on mass form that follows the site and facilitate the access of visitors to reach the parking area into the buildings, and between buildings. Abstract

Electroplating industry is one of industry that produce waste water containing heavy metals. Among the heavy metals contained in the waste water is Chromium (Cr) which have a high toxicity. One technology that can be applied to set aside Cr in wastewater is by biosorption method using biomass derived from baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). This study aimed to study the ability of biomass yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) in designated Cr in weight variation biosorbent is 0.25; 0.5 and 0.75 grams, 80 mesh size; 100 and 140 and the contact time 1; 2; 3 and 4 hours. The results showed the highest removal efficiency of Cr occurs in biosorbent weight of 0.75 grams in a size of 80 mesh and a contact time of 4 hours with an efficiency of 54.7%. Biosorption process showed that values adsorption capacity that is 3.3258 mg Cr / gr biosorbent.Keywords: biosorption, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Cr, mesh size, contact time, heavy metals
