Abstract

The surface roughness of a machining process is a very important factor in the field of production that is one of the turn-milling process. Turn-milling is a combined machining process of turning and milling with complete tools (cutting) where workpieces and tools rotate together. The turn-milling process can generally be categorized in orthogonal turn-milling, tangential turn-milling and co-axial turn-milling methods. The resulting surface quality is also affected by the parameters of the machining process in the form of rotation of the workpiece and the rotation of the tool. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of parameters on surface roughness and optimal parameter to surface roughness by doing tangential process of turn-milling. By varying the parameter variables, the surface roughness generated in this study is influenced by the rotation of the workpiece and the rotation of the tool. The higher the tool rotation the lower the surface roughness. Conversely, the higher the rotation of the workpiece the higher the surface roughness. The optimal parameter is a rotation tool of 25000 rpm with a rotation of 630 rpm objects found in the roughness class N7 with a roughness value of 1.321 μm where the roughness value is lower among other N7 roughness classes.Keywords : Turn-milling, Tangential Turn-milling, Rotation, Roughness.

Abstract

Mud pump is one type of pump is widely used in industry, mud pump included in the positive type pump. Components of these machines often damage by suddenly one of them is theliner. The purpose of this study is to identify the critical component liner, evaluate the damage cause liner by the method of fault tree analysis (FTA), determine the basic design of the treatment and determine the optimum schedule component replacement liner, analyze the value of reliability, availability, mean time between failure (MTBF), mean time to repaire (MTTR). The existence of the effort are intended to increase the reliability and availability that high to maximize the life of the equipment, as well as the maintenance of an effective. Conclusions obtained includes critical component is the liner 1, cause damage to the liner is scratch. The processing data using Minitab software 16 to determine distribution test, thevalue of MTTR, MTBF, reliability and availability. It is obtained the optimal schedule component liner replacements is done every 56 day with some advantages namely the frequency of replacement of the liner component decreased from an average of 11 times/year be 7 times/year and an increase in the value of reliability in the liner 2.Keywords : Mud Pump, Liner, Reliability, Availability, FTA

Abstract

Along with the times, welding technology has undergone many developments. The new methods in the process of connecting material are an evidence of developments in welding technology, one of which is friction welding. The friction welding is a welding without using electrode, that the connection between the two materials of welding is obtained a homogeneous connection. The friction welding can also be used to connect cylindrical material or non-cylindrical material. This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in the forging surface (chamfer angle) on tensile strength of welded joints of the rotary friction welding using mild steel. In this study used the mild steel material, which a diameter of 8 mm shaped cylindrical. The cylindrical with a length of chamfer 2 mm and diameter forging of 4 mm by variation of the angle of 300, 450, and 600 were investigated in this research. Then, the rotational speed was 3800 rpm, friction pressure of 4 bars, and the forging pressure of 6 bars were applied in this research. Result showed work piece surface conditions (chamfer angle) affect the value of the tensile strength of steel mild steel. Specimens with diameter forging of 4 mm have a tensile strength value of an average of 424.63 N/mm2, 530.79 N/mm2 and 563.81 N/mm2. The specimen with a chamfer length of 2 mm has an average tensile strength of 585.04 N/mm2, 537.86 N/mm2 and 450.58 N/mm2.Keywords: Friction Welding, Mild Steel, Chamfer Angle, Maximum Tensile Strength.

Abstract

Vacuum dehydrator is an equipment that use to reduce water content in vacuum condition. The purpose of this experiment is to reduce water content of honey with pressure under 1 atm (vacuum condition) and heated. The heat controlled at 40oC. The experiment was done by reduce pressure until 7,385 kPa. It use time variable, those are 4, 8,12 hours. The result showed that at 12 hours experiment, get the lowest water content of honey is 18,18%. It lowest than 4 hours and 8 hours experiment result. Where initial water content before experiment is 23,2%. For a while, the resultof honey experiment at laboratory showed that water content of honey compactible with Indonesian Standard is less than 22%.Keywords : Vacuum Dehydrator, Honey, Heating Time

Abstract

Dynamometer is a measurement instrument that functions to measure the cutting force on a lathe machine. The dynamometer is a measuring of tool that using of a strain gauge sensor of utilizing strain, which occur on the stalk strain as the reader, then it is converted into cutting force. The main purpose of this study is to produce a dynamometer with type four square stalks for cutting force measurement, dynamometer designed to be able tomeasure the axial force and tangential force. The design process consists of designing, manufacturing and calibration processes. The design step is started from material selection, dynamometer selection and dynamometer dimensional design. The dimensions from design is then drawn detail and analyzed stress. After design process is complete, then the process of making the mechanical components and electrical components dynamometer. Afterthat, the dynamometer is assembled for calibration process. The calibration process consists of hysteresis and repeatability errors. This research revealed the hysteresis for maximum tangential force of 1 milivolt and for maximum axial force of 2 milivolt. The repeatability error was 2 milivolt for the maximum tangential force and maximum axial force of 2 milivolt. Dimension of the dynamometer of type four square stalks was a length of 185mm and a diameter of 65 mm. The dynamometer can measure maximum force 500 N for axial and tangential force.Keyword : Dynamometer, Cutting Force, Strain Gauge, Calibration

Abstract

The utilization of coconut fiber waste at this time is very potential, because the coconut fiber waste a lot of selling value. The coconut processing itself produces 2 kinds of products that are coconut fiber and coconut coir. To increase the effectiveness and capacity of coconut fiber decomposers, it is necessary to perform several variables and in this research will use variation of rotation and shape of coconut fiber decomposition blade. which later expected to produce optimal decomposition. The data retrieval process in this research is by decomposing coconut husk where coconut husk is inserted into the machine weighing 500 gram continuously and observation of the decomposition results and calculate the decomposition time, so as to get the results of the machine capacity. Variations of parsing knife rotation and variation of blade shape of blade on coco fiber decomposition machine influence on the decomposition of coconut coir. In this study the optimal result is at 1420 rpm rotation, time of 47 seconds, for the coconut coir that has been done soaking for 2 hours. The optimal production capacity was at 1420 rpm of the knife rotation and capacity result was 0.0104 gram/ s.Keywords: Coconut fiber extraction machine, Coconut husk, Shape of knife blades.

Abstract

Dinamometer is an instrumentation that function for measure the cutting force on the lathe machine. The dynamometer principle use a strain gauge that is to utilize the strain that occurs on the strain bar as a reader in Voltage units then converted into force units in Newton. The strain on the strain bar is read by strain gauge,, then amplified using amplifier (signal amplifier) so it can be read and displayed on the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and storing data measurement results on the computer (PC) using Data Logger. Research that has been done before there are still some weaknesses which need to be developed in this research. To get the measurement result of the dynamometer, development begins with changes in the dimension of the strain bar and changing the type of material on the part of the dynamometer which experienced strain and modifications are made to the electrical circuit of the dynamometer. Then do the process of finding correlation between Depth of Cut with Cutting force. The purpose of finding correlations between these two variables is to get correlation factor which will be incorporated into the arduino program. Methods in finding correlation factor used is by giving a disruption of loading, the loading is given through a two-way force that is tangential direction loading and axial direction loading.Keywords : Cutting Force, Strain Bar, Stress, Wheatstone Bridge, Correlation Factor.

Abstract

This research is aimed to design the shape of transmission connection between coconut husk decomposermachine and a motorcycle engine, so it can be operated in coconut plantation areas. Preliminary in thisresearch is based on Nuriyadi and Cahyono who designed and tested a coconut husk decomposer machine,which used and electric motor. If the decomposer of coconut husk machine is operated in a plantation area withno electricity, then this machine can not be operated. The purpose of this research is to modify the motorcycleas the engine driver of decomposers of coconut husk machine which as a means for transportation as well. Themethod in this research is used Design For Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) to determine the design oftransmission connection form. The research result was revealed the assembly time of transmission connectionof coconut husk decomposer machine of 129.67 seconds and the efficiency of assembly time was 4.6%.Keywords: Motorcycle, DFMA, QFD, Efficiency assembly.

Abstract

Nanas Bongsai (Ananas comosus var. microstachys L.) is an amazing herb which is used in traditional medicine by local people of Muara Lembu district as a potion to reduce pain while menstruation period for a women. The present work was designed to investigate its probable side effects on the histopathologic changes in limph and uterus tissues after treated with A. comosus var. microstachys L extract in female white rats. This is an experimental research consisted of five treatments and three repetitions. Treatment composed of two controls (P0 and P+) and given Nanas Bongsai extract with three different dosages. Histology result of lymph show that all treatments given with Nanas Bongsai with three different dosages have different diameter average of white pulp and there is no significant changes with normal control. While observation towards histology structure of endometrium thickness with dosage P1, dosage P2, dosage P3 is 206.333±33.486; 215.667±33.486; 197.667±60.871 respectively. The most thin endometrium layer found in treatment with dosage P3 compared to control P0. From this study showed that there is no toxic effect on uterus and lymph function of of Nanas Bonsai (A. comosus var. microstachys L.) at different doses, so the plant is secure for consumption by the community.

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study is to find out the mathematics learning outcomes of students using a realistic approach is higher than using conventional learning. The research method used is the experimental research method. The population in this study were Grade VII Students of SMP Negeri 1 Merangin, while the sample used in this study was VIIB class as the experimental class and VIID class as the control class. Data collection uses a questionnaire method with a Likert scale to motivate students, while the problem-solving ability with essay questions. The data analysis method for motivation with the t-test, for test analysis is by the t-test, before carrying out the t-test on the similarity of the two averages, the normality test and the homogeneity test first. Then the hypothesis test aims to find out whether the hypothesis is accepted or rejected. Hypothesis testing is done using the z-test. The results of the research data analysis show for learning motivation of class VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Merangin in following mathematics learning after using a realistic mathematical approach better than motivation to learn mathematics before using this realistic mathematical approach with an average initial motivation of 2.38 and final motivation of 3.08. Whereas the mathematical problem solving abilities of class VII students at SMP Negeri 1 Merangin using a realistic mathematical approach were higher than conventional mathematics learning outcomes with an experimental class average of 80.46 and a control class of 57.79.
