Abstract

Synthesis of hydroxyapatite from sea shells has been successfully done by the low temperature hydrothermal method. The purpose of research is to determine the effect oftemperature calcination and holding time on the hydroxyapatite properties. Firstly, sea shells were calcined at 1000°C for 24 hours for producing CaO. And then 55.63 grams of (NH4)2HPO4 was dissolved in 600 mL of distilled water and then 45.91 grams of CaO added into the solution until formed a slurry. Subsequently, the slurry was dried in an oven at 120°C for 15 hours. The drued slurry was crashed and calcined at temperature of 700°C, 800°C, 900°C, 1000°C and holding time of 0.5 hours, 1 hour, 1.5 hours and 2 hours. The results showed that the diameter of the crystal at the temperature calcinationof 700°C is 52.87 nm, while the diameter of the crystal at temperature of 800°C is 52.17 nm. The diameter of the crystal at temperature of 900°C and 1000°C are 51.32 and 50.09nm respectively. Functional groups of PO4 3- and OH are detected in the obtained hydroxyapatite.Keywords: Hydroxyapatite, Hydrothermal, Sea Shells and Crystal Diameter

Abstract

Bioethanol is an alternative fuel that produced from plant materials containing starch, sugar, and cellulose through a process of fermentation, and also bioethanol is environmentally friendly and renewable natural resources. Palm juice is one of potential materials to be processed into bioethanol. Availability of sugar palm land in Indonesia makes sugar palm juice has the potential to be processed into bioethanol. Fermentation process using yeast Saccharomyces cereviceae, glucose is converted into bioethanol and carbon dioxide. This research was observed the effect of variation in pH 4,5; 5,0; 5,5; 6,0 and variations of fermentation time of 24, 36, 48, 60 dan 72 hours. Fermentation took place at room temperature (25 - 30 0C) and stirring speed of 200 rpm. Ethanol concentrations were analyzed using alcoholmeter. The optimum fermentation process was shown on the pH 4,5 fermentation time of 72 hours with ethanol concentrations obtained 7% (v / v) or 55,25 mg / ml.Keyword : Bioethanol, fermentation, Palm juice, Saccharomyces cereviceae.

Abstract

Flood is a frequent disaster in Dumai City. This study tries to solve the problem by using a pump. In order to the pump can be able to function with optimally, it is necessary to be given temporary ponds reservoirs. The pump is used to help accelerate drainage water collected in ponds. Case study area observed is Simpang Tetap street. this study conducted a simulation ponds reservoirs and pumps by water balance method. The discharge had been calculated by Rational method and IDF curve by Mononobe method. Ponds reservoirs sized (100m x 50m x 3m) requires pumping capacity of 4 m3 / sec to handle the floodwaters. So a pump 4m3 / sec can be to pump of water from ponds reservoirs to the Dumai River as channel waster.Keywords: flood, drainage system, ponds reservoirs, pumps

Abstract

Road planning techniques need some technical criteria to use as consideration for optimation of planning results to anticipate problems because of road, like social issues or technical issues. One of the criteria necessary planning is value of traffic growth. However, in developing countries including Indonesia, traffic analysis could support planning data with accuracy difficult that adequate. Because of lack of required data, so that difficult to predict future developments. This study aims to analyze value of traffic growth based on value of traffic volume from UR Research Institute survey on Sp. Lago - Sorek street in 2006 until 2013 without traffic volume data in 2008. And also to estimate the future of traffic volume on periods 5 years, 10 years, and 20 years later using value of the traffic growth and regression analysis method. The results show the value of traffic growth on Sp. Lago-Sorek street based on daily traffic volume average are 6.82% of total vehicle (kend/hari) and 4.12% for total vehicle (Smp/hari), traffic volume predicts of total vehicle based on value of traffic growth for year 2018 are 8429 (kend/hari) and 10050 (smp/hari), for year 2023 are 11721 (kend/hari) and 1230 (smp/hari), and for year 2033 are 22666 (kend/hari) and 10513 (smp/hari). Estimated volume of traffic Total Vehicles by regression analysis equation without traffic volume data in 2008 for year 2018 amount to 6915 (kend/hari) and 9239 (smp/hari), for year 2023 amount to 7480 (kend/hari) and 9759 (smp/hari), and for year 2033 amount to 8320 (kend/hari) and 10513 (smp/hari)Keywords: the value of traffic growth, estimate the future of traffic volume, traffic volume.

Abstract

Previous researchers have much success using the model Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) as a forecasting model for hydrological analysis. Reliability of ANFIS models need to be tested, especially to farecast of the tidal. In this research, ANFIS models which built using data tidal observations in Tanjung Buton (2004). The result of tidal forecasting by using ANFIS models show excellent results with value the test statistic parameters of the correlation coefficient (R) more than 0.87 that is in category of very strong correlation, statistic parameters of RMSE (root mean square error) 0.445 m, and the test parameters of the average valuation relative error by 11,8%. In comparison the tidal forcasting results used ANFIS models with tidal forcasting results used the Admiralty method, values of the parameter test by mean relative error used ANFIS model is smaller with value of 11.8%, while values of the parameter test by mean relative error used Admiralty method is larger that is 22.4%. Abstract

Population growth led to increased need for clean water. Provision of clean water has been managed by the water entities (PDAM). Water delivery need costs. So peoples desire to connect and pay analyzed in this study. Research on the population is divided into two categories, in the middle-upper and the lower middle class of population. The result of this research view that population wishes to subscribe, and the costs would be paid influenced by two socio-economic factors of the survey are the number of family members and revenue. The willingness to connect on a high society amounted to 62.13% and in the lower middle class is 44.44%. Tariff of willingness to pay high society is Rp 6614.96 / m3 and Rp 4971.13 / m3 for the lower middle class. This tariff are higher than average tariff of PDAM. Water supply in 2014 is 620 l / sec, it should be increased into 3946.64 l / sec for the year 2032.Keyword : willingness to pay (WTP), costs, water, Pekanbaru

Abstract

In the analysis of flood hydrograph to input of designed rainfall, usually rainfall parameters like as duration and rainfall distribution pattern were not available, but actually the case is very important for analysis. rainfall distribution pattern can be seen in two ways, the first is observation of rainfall events using automatic rainfall recorder and rainfall distribution model.The study using rainfall data from rainfall stations Pasar Kampar, Kampar Regency. The research was done by comparing the rainfall distribution pattern of hourly from observations method with distribution pattern of hourly using rainfall distribution model. Rainfall distribution model used is the Alternating Block Method (ABM), Modified Mononobe, and Tadashi Tanimoto. The analysis showed that rainfall in station Pasar Kampar was dominated by three hour rainfall events. Distribution of rainfall three to seven hours, rainfall distribution model ABM giving out largest deviation compared with distribution model Modified Mononobe, and for the distribution of rainfall eight hours the smallest deviation given by rainfall distribution model. Abstract

Kampar district is an area with growth rate, high migration and urbanization. The development of an increasing number of people have an impact on the movement system in Kampar district, particularly Bangkinang city. Crowd and narrow access roads and the installation of the portal, the number of vehicle and traffic congestion is a barrier in the acceleration speed fire fighting units to arrive at the disaster site. A complicating factor is the outage channel away hydran /water ways/ river around the fire scene. This study aim to creating an optimal plan to determine the location where the fire station was placed. Given the potential for fire is becoming increasingly significant, these hazards must be anticipated and faced with a variety preventionefforts are comprehensive, systematic, effective and sustainable. This research used quantitative methods that located in Bangkinang city start from Juni 2014. The study is done by considering the speed of the vehicle (35 km/hours, 40 km/hours, 50 km/hours), mileage and travel time (5 minute, 10 minuteand 15 minute. By doing 3 (three) simulations carried out the importance of the result of each simulations calculations on the importance of the total area of service for each simulations is 231,818 km2, 357,755 km2, and 440,075 km2. Variable in this study is the optimization of the location and the fire station in Bangkinang, and applying SIG to develop models of the relationship between the criteria determine the location of emergency fire fighting facilities. Data analysis techniques aresimulation models in the form of the application of remote sensing technology, spatial analysis and descriptive direction of determining the location of new fire station. The results of this research shows that optimization modelling that the location of the fire department made to get the location of fire station locations right to produce efficiency and effectiveness in handling fires. Done by designing a few posts on some areas the fire department are Bangkinang. Accordingliy, this modeling is expected to minimize the impact of losses incurred or the lost of life, property, damage of public infrastructure and other physicalbuilding.Keywords : optymal location,service area, fire station, network analyst

Abstract

This study is to evaluate the mechanical properties namely compressive strength and splitting tensile strength of concrete using clamshell powder as a partial cement substitute. The clamshell powder was made from grinding Anadara grandis shells that were burnt at furnace brick and filtered using no #200 sieve. An initial investigation was carried out to make concrete specimens with partial replacement of shells powder using 2%, 4%, 6% and 8% of the weight of cement. The results of the initial study showed that the optimum clamshell powder proportion to get a high compressive strength was 4%. The specimens for compressive strength and splitting tensile strength were manufactured using 4% clamshell powder as a partial cement substitution. The specimens were tested atthe age of 7, 28, and 91 days. The results showed that the compressive strength of concrete using clamshell powder has lower strength than normal concrete for all age of specimens. On the other hand, the splitting tensile strength of concreteusing clamshell powder was higher than normal concrete.Keyword: clamshell powder, compressive strength, tensile strength, OPC

Abstract

Tenayan Raya’s Flat-house is built for poor people to overcome the problems of housing in Pekanbaru. especially middle lower economics citizen. The research took place at sub-district of Tenayan Raya Pekanbaru where data were collected from the survey at three population sub-districts such as Tenayan Raya, Lima Puluh, and Sail. It were analyzed by using correlation, multiple linear regression, determination, and Z test to analyzed distance-location, facilities, income rates, tenant willingness to stay, and satisfaction of theirs current housing. The tenant-price will be analyzed by using some methods, like Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Break Event Point (BEP) and sensitivity analysis. 300 respondents which consist of 64,67% laborers and their highest education background are 35% senior high school. As a result, the average capability-price of tenant based on their income are Rp. 487.000/month . It will fulfill 78% tenants from the full capacity of the flat. In addition, the target of Break Event Point will be reached by year 2056. In other word, the most affecting factor of the feasible-price is income rates, so that the government should pay more attention to this variable if they want to run flat-house.Keywords: Tenayan Raya’s flat-house, capability-price, feasibility study.
