Abstract

Electrical power cannot be distributed properly to consumers due to the power losses that occur caused by technical and non-technical problems. The unbalance loads of distribution power system  channel can happen caused by  permanent conductive resistance. Good conductor should not have resistance value, but in reality every object has electrical  resistance value. This conductive resistanve can cause the power losses besides it the condition of distribution network such as the length of the network often increased also it contribution to cause the power losses. The distribution network is more prone to disruption because the distribution of electricity to consumers is carried out continuously. Therefore it is necessary for the calculation of the power losses generated by the conductor. The calculation is carried out on a 20 kV distribution channel with a point to point calculation method. Total primary current has generated phase R is 4104,848 W, phase S is 3880,827 W and phase T is 3585,039 W. Total power losses that has generated feeder Bangau Sakti is 11570,71 W. Total percentage power losses that generated feeder Bangau Sakti is 0,223%.   Keyword : Power Losses, Unbalance Load, Primary Distribution System

Abstract

The process of distributing blood from proper storage before transfusion requires a cooling unit that is able to maintain the temperature so that the blood can be maintained and not damaged before being transfused. To maintain the chemical and structural composition of blood, it is done by storing it at a temperature of 2-6 °C and the distribution is carried at a temperature of 2-10 °C with a maximum transit time of 24 hours specifically for whole blood. To answer this problem, this research will test the ability of a box that is used as a container for the blood distribution process using a thermoelectric cooling system. Thermoelectric was chosen for use as a cooler in the blood carrier box because of its small shape so that it can be operated in a limited space and operates at a DC voltage of 12 volts. Thermoelectric uses a Peltier element with type TEC1 12706 with the coefficient of performance (COP) value based on the highest calculation result of 0.173. In the test, the input voltage variations were 9 volts and 12 volts where the blood carrier box was able to maintain the blood temperature at 4-5 °C. Abstract

In this research carried out innovation in wind turbine that generate power using wind energy. Where the propeller wind turbine and the venturi wind turbine are combined into one axis. The purpose of this study was to determine the additional performance of the propeller wind turbine after combining it with the Venturi wind turbine at low wind speeds. The performance of this hybrid wind turbine is measured at each variation in the ratio of the blade diameter of the propeller turbine to the diameter of the venturi turbine. So that the optimal ratio of the ratio of the diameter between propeller wind turbines and venturi wind turbines to this lybrid wind turbine can be obtained. In this study, using three variations of the diameter ratio of the propeller wind turbine, namely 1, 1.2 and 1.4 with the number of 3 blades and the profile of the propeller wind turbine blade using the NREL S833 type. Then add the venturi wind turbine in front of the propeller wind turbine with 3 venturi turbine blades with a diameter of 30 cm. From the test results it is known that the addition of a venturi wind turbine to a small diameter propeller wind turbine has the greatest percentage increase in performance among the three variations of the propeller wind turbine diameter. Abstract

Utilization of oil palm empty fruit bunches is still limited. One alternative to utilizing oil palm empty fruit bunch is by extracting potassium hydroxide from oil palm empty fruit bunch ash. This research aims to determine the effect of extraction time and temperature using the co-current flow method on potassium concentration. The dry ashes of oil palm empty fruit bunches was sieved with a 100 mesh sieve then extracted using water as a solvent at temperatures of 50°C, 65°C, 80°C and extraction times 30, 60, 90 minutes. The results showed that at an extraction temperature of 80°C and  extraction time of 90 minutes, the highest potassium concentration was 6.888 ppm. The concentration of potassium increases with increasing temperature and extraction time.   Keywords : ash, co-current, extraction, potassium

Abstract

Waste from processed palm oil is increasing over time. Palm Oil Fuel Ash (POFA) from boilers can be used as a substitute for cement in concrete because it contains silica and alumina. This study examines the optimum mix of cement replacement by Palm Oil Fuel Ash (POFA) and silica fume addition to the concrete mixture. The variables used are the variation of silica fume addition (0-15%) with the control concrete is PCC concrete. The concrete will be tested for its compressive strength and porosity at the age of 7 and 28 days after curing in plain water. Based on the test result, the control concrete's compressive strength was 21,74 MPa. The highest compressive strength was the concrete mixture without POFA replacement with 15% silica fume addition, the compressive strength is 26,83 MPa. It proves the addition of silica fume in concrete increases the compressive strength. Keywords: Concrete, POFA, silica fume, compressive strength.

Abstract

There are several problems that can interfere photovoltaic performance in large scale. Shading effect on PV arrays causes reduced absorption of solar radiation and increased temperature on modules of PV arrays. The reduced absorption of solar radiation results decreaseing voltage on PV String and disrupts performance of PV array system. This study designs a small miniature of capacity PV farm consists of 10 wattpeak PV from 9 modules that arranged into 3 strings erach string consists of 3 PV modules. This study uses a series of bypass diodes and Blocking diodes. Using this bypass diode causes voltage among PV modules to be different while using Blocking diode causes the voltage among PV strings to be different. The aim of research is to increase power generated by PV farm circuit by Clustering the String PV farm area that is covered by shadows. This Clustering is based on classification of voltage readings on each PV farm String. Voltage in Cluster1 is 42V to 58V. While voltage in cluster2 is 21V to 41V and 9v in cluster3 From simulation combination of Shading 220, Shading 210 Shading 100 Shading 011 are 11.1%, 22.2%, 33.3% and 44.4%.respectively using dummy load in process sensing voltage on String is to ensure that electric current flows in a closed circuit so that bypass diode can work when one module is shaded. The results of this study indicate that using Cluster Method Combination can improve the harvesting of power in photovoltaics under shadow. Abstract

Bioplastic characteristics are influenced by various parameters, including levels of cross linking agents (such as citric acid) and plasticizers (such as sorbitol). The research was to study the effect of citric acid and sorbitol levels on mechanical properties, cross linking (characterized by ester groups), and biodegradation of bioplastics based starch-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). Bioplastic manufacturing is done by mixing sago starch -PVA (1: 3), sorbitol (10, 15, 20% w/w) and citric acid (2.5; 5; 7.5% w/w) at 90ºC for 55°C minutes, optimization of process conditions is determined by response surface methodology (RSM). The parameters tested include tensile strength test, elongation, and biodegradation. The most significant factor affecting all responses was the level of citric acid and sorbitol. The optimum process conditions were obtained at 4.8% w / citric acid content and sorbitol 11.4% w / w with a tensile strength response of 26,34 MPa, elongation 379%, and 49,18% biodegradation. Abstract

Spent bleaching earth (SBE) is solid waste that is produced from the bleaching industry of palm oil (CPO). In principle, SBE can be regenerated and reused as an adsorbent, but its adsorption capability is limited. This weakness can be overcome through an activation process using one type of mineral acid such as hydrochloric acid (HCl). HCl as a chemical activator can reduce the moisture content in the resulting adsorbent and can dissolve impurities so that more adsorbent pores are formed. This study aims to determine the effect of the effect on HCl concentration and contact time of iodine activation number and SBE surface area. Abstract

Development of modern technology today has made industry carry out various innovations. One of them is digital image processing, such as biometrics for Face Recognition. Face recognition application can be implemented in various fields, for example Security Systems for doors access from a room. The research is conducted at Integrated Service Unit (UPT) of Universitas Riau which is the center for processing and maintaining from its system, data and networks. This study aims to implement face detection and face recognition systems in real-time by using Raspberry Pi. The research does not build the whole security system, just part. Testing is done by using simulation software. This study uses Viola Jones Method to detect face area. Back propagation of Artificial Neural Networks is used to perform face data training and predict facial pattern data. Research testings are carried out based on several factors such as light intensity, distance, and camera position. Results of this study showed that system succeeded to detect and recognize different faces in 0.5m, 00 of camera slop, 101-167 lx of light intencity with average of the highest accuracy is 86.6%. Abstract

Microstrip transparent antenna investigated and optimized for a vehicular communication system, facilitating vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle to roadside communication. The antenna operated at frequency of 5.8 GHz with the substrate used is glass Aght-4. This paper presents the simulated antenna with panthom using software CST Microwave Studio. From the simulation the results obtained are gain of 4.33 dBi with directional radiation - pattern at frequency 5.8 Ghz. Keywords: Advanced Traffic Management System, Microstrip Antenna Transparent.
