Abstract

Riau University library is a facility that managing and providing access to information services, resources, and knowledge that support teaching, learning, and research for the library users. The Existing of library building still not meet the functional requirements and user comfort. With presence of new library building planning in the University of Riau Masterplan year 2013-2033 became the reason for the design. Riau University library design is using the application of behavioral architecture approach with the intention that the designed libraries considering human aspects and behaviour. The concept that used in the design is behavioural accomodation. The design of Riau University Library is expected can meet the needs of user in terms of both function needs and users comfort by directing, and considering its behavior factor like privacy, territory, personal space.The results of the behaviour accomodation concept application contained in the design of Riau University library that includes zoning of function and behaviour, circulation that accomodate accessibility behaviour, indoor setting arrangement to accommodate behaviour and comfort, outdoor setting for outdoor actvity, form of mass wich is result from room setting, mass order inside the site, building structure, utilities that support function and comfort, building facades, vegetation and landscaping detail.Keywords: Behavioral Accomodation, Behavioural Architecture, Riau University Library

Abstract

Usage of peatland clays as liquid coagulant in pre treatment process still have a problem, so needed a process using ultrafiltration membranes. The purpose of this study was to determine the removal efficiency of organics matter and turbidity in pre treatment process using liquid coagulant of peatland clays with variation coagulant doses and learn the flux and rejection of organics matter and turbidity in peat water in processing using cross flow system ultrafiltration membrane without and with pre treatment. This research was conducted by varying the dose of liquid coagulant by 40 ml, 50 ml and 60 ml to 1000 ml of peat water and variations ultrafiltration membrane operating pressure of 0.5 bar, 1 bar and 1.5 bar. The result showed the best coagulant dosage is 40 ml, the highest flux obtained at processing using ultrafiltration membranes with a pre treatment at a pressure of 1.5 bar and highest rejection of organic matter and turbidity obtained on processing using ultrafiltration membranes with a pre treatment at a pressure of 0.5 bar respectively amounted to 96.34% and 100%.Key words: organic matter, peatland clays, peat water, turbidity, ultrafiltration membrane.

Abstract

Copper is one of the heavy metals that can cause environmental pollution. One method of separation that can be done to reduce the environmental pollution is adsorption method. With this method required an effective adsorbent to adsorb metalions. This research aims to Fly ash absorbent of copper. determine (1) under optimum conditions (time and pH) and Cu2+ ions adsorption using fly ash, (2) ion adsorption capacity of C2+ using fly ash, were analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Data were analyzed descriptively reported in tables and graphs. The results showed that the optimum contact time required for adsorption Cu2+ ions using fly ash is 60 minute and the optimum pH is 6. Cu2+ ion adsorption by the fly ash Freundlich adsorption isotherm according to the value of R2 = 0,973 mg/gKata kunci : Adsorption, Copper , Isothermal adsorption, fly ash

Abstract

Palm Oil Mill Effluent treatment produces sludge as byproduct. The sludge produced will cause problems for environment if there are no actions and treatments taken toward the sludge. The purpose of this research is to reduce the pollution of palm oilmill effluent with aerob composting methods using sludge, boiler ash and palm oil fiber. The instrument used is a simple composter with 60 cm height and 30 cm diameter. The sludge is mixed with boiler ash, fiber and organic waste, and then EM-4 was added as an activator. This research used the addition of 0,7 % EM-4activator, with variations of stack’s height are 40, 45 and 50 cm to find out the optimal height to achieve thermophylic condition and the quality of the compost produced. The result of this research shows that compost with 50 cm stack’s height reached the highest temperature of 47,30C. The quality of the compost produced meets the SNI’s 19-7030-2004 requirement. The compost is mature at the 21st day with result Rasio C/N= 12,2. The conversion of palm’s oil sludge into compost can beused as an alternative in utilization waste into valuable product.Keywords: boiler ash, compost, EM-4 activator, fiber, palm’s sludge

Abstract

The rapid economic development and community activities increasingly crowded cause appearance laundry business that effect on the environment. Ultrafiltration membrane is one of wastewater treatment technologies, but membranes have limitations such as the occurrence of the phenomenon of concentration polarization and fouling. The research objective of this study the effect of variations in transmembrane pressure against the rejection percentage COD, TSS , and the effect of variations in transmembrane pressure, concentration of washing of the efficiency and effectiveness of washing the membrane. the concentration of the washing of the efficiency and effectiveness of washing the membrane. The process of ultrafiltration membranes and membrane chemical washing wastewater laundry do with variations in pressure of 1 bar , 2 bar , and 3 bar. Variation of chemical cleaning agent concentration of 1%, 1.5% and 2%, rinsing with distilled water for 30 minutes, filtering wastewater laundry for 120 minutes, and washing using chemical cleaning agent (NaOH) for 30 minutes. Results highest percentage of rejection for COD parameter 86.6% and 85.7% TSS parameters in transmembrane pressure of 3 bar. The highest washing efficiency of the value of Flux Recovery (FR) gained 81.9%, and the value of resistance of Removal (RR) gained 82.59% with a concentration of 2% in the transmembrane pressure of 3 bar. The highest leaching effectiveness obtained at 50.21% with a concentration of 2% and a transmembrane pressure of 3 bar.Keywords : Ultrafiltration membrane, Fouling, Transmembrane Pressure, Efficiency of Washing, Effectiveness of Washing

Abstract

The growth of economic and population, especially in tampan district Pekanbaru is followed by the increase of transportation infrastructures and increasing amount of vehicle result in the increasing amount of vehicle. This increasing amount of vehicles result in the increasing amount of carbondioxide (CO2) emission produced. CO2 will enlarge the Greenhouse Effect which can cause global warming. Because of that, a measurement is needed to find out the amount of CO2 emission produced transportations activities. In this research, the measurement is done by total vehicle appoarch and emission factor. This research was conducted Soebrantas Street, Lobak, Bangau Sakti, Kamboja, Purwodadi and Suka Karya. The total amount of vehicles is measured with video recorder on at research locations for 16 hours. The recording was conducted on effective days. From the measurment, CO2 emission from transportations activities for converted vehicles in Tampan district is 169.786,914 kg CO2 on effective days.Keywords : carbondioxide emission, carbon footprint, global warming, emission factor, transportation

Abstract

Noise is one of environmental problem that should be given an attention, because noise with high intensity can cause negative impacts to human’s health, comfort and psychology. Noise in school or campus area can interfere with process of teachingand learning. The purpose of this research is to analyze noise level at Faculty of Medicine UR and provide solutions to control the noise in that area. The procedure of noise measurement was done according to the regulation of Minister of Environment No. 48 1996 attachment II about Measurement Method. The measurement and evaluation of environment noise level used Sound Level Meter in13 spots for 2 days (weekend and weekday). The result shows, maximum noise occurred on Sunday at spot number 1 with 89.1 dB noise level. Primary source of the noise came from traffic activity. This is shown by the result of noise measurement of89.1 from 6664 vehicles that passed by spot number 1 on Sunday and 83.3 dB from 6264 vehicles passed by spot number 1 on Monday. This research recommends noisecontrol solutions by substitution control, technical control and administrative control.Keywords: Noise, Sound Level Meter, LSM

Abstract

The sources of noise often can be found at campus, and which one of the noise source is the activity on the spare time. Which is noise level was as big as the level of noise from the laboratory, an electric generator, and the sound of thesurrounding road caused by vehicles. This study aim is to analyze the level of noise University of Riau. The noise datas measured in 2 days during 24 hours each day to quantify the noise level during the day (Ls) for 16 hours and nighttime noise level (Lm) for 8 hours. These measurements were done on Monday andSunday. From the noise datas were be calculated, it can quantified the value of Leq (24 Hours), the value of the noise level during the day (Ls), and the nighttime noise level (Lm) and the day-night noise level (Lsm) on Monday and Sunday. The value of the highest day-night noise level was held on Monday which is at 97.1 dB(A) and a lowest noise level was on Sunday on 60.7 dB (A). That noise intensity exceeds the intensity standard of the noise level according to the Decree of the Minister of Environment number 48 in 1996 which is 55 dB (A).Keywords: Noise Level, Learning Activity, Noise Measurement.

Abstract

A public enthusiasm on music is not well-framed by availability of facilities in order to accommodate musical community in Pekanbaru. Therefore, a musical concert hall is needed. Concert hall is a building which can be used as a place to hold a music concert lively. To express music on building,design of the hall has used a deconstruction architectural approach, that is based in design principles oby Peter Eisenman. The principles are using simple geometry, grid pattern, and displacement, that are combined within harmony concept. Those have applied on site, building mass, and facade. On site, grid pattern is formed by dividing site into sections and making the pattern following main access. Geometrical shape is transformed by displacing and by following the grid pattern on site. Abstract

Football is the most wanted sport in Indonesia especially for the male population. But, lack of football prestation in the International cauldron not proven a great satisfaction, so it need an practice place for young atlete and teenager. Football school is one of another choice that can make a change football prestation to be high gradiance in international cauldron. With this football existance expected can build an efective facility and room for the user and visitor, so this football school design plan can prove the incridible spirit to the young generation who love Indonesia football. In this football school design,Approach structure as aestethic that applied in the design, such as: (1) Ornament Structure; (2) Structure as Ornament; (3) Structure as Arcitecture; (4) Structure as former producer; (5) Denial Structure. Tikitaka and Crossing concept was choosen to solve every problem occur during the Football school in Pekanbaru processed. This concept was applied in every single arcitectural aspect in Football school design in Pekanbaru, such as: composision mass, mass former, then building faced. Simple reguler mass, former mass and building faced is the application goal from analogy concept, former football strathegy “tikitaka” and “crossing”.
