Abstract

Organic matter in peat water can react with chlorine during the chlorinationprocess that cause the formation of trihalomethans (THMs) which can cause acancer because it’s carcinogenic. Organic matter also hard to be removed bytraditional coagulation (one-stage) due to its hydrophobic and hydrophilicfractions that requiring another alternative treatment like two-stage coagulationby using clay as a coagulant. Research using a jar test by varying the mass ofcoagulant that is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 gr. In two-stage process, coagulant also splitequally for first and second coagulation with variations 1/3:2/3, 1/2:1/2 and2/3:1/3. The result showed that the highest efficiency for two-stage coagulationcan achieved 94,45% at addition of 5 gr of coagulant with 2/3:1/3 varian ofcoagulant split and already met the standard. Then the characterization offunctional bunch of organic matter doing by FTIR spectra and the result showedthat the functional bunch of hydrophobic like C-O from esthers, ethers andphenols bunch and C-C from aromatic bond also hydrophilic bunch like O-Halcohol can not be detected after two-stage coagulation process.Keywords : Peat water, organic matter, clay and two-stage coagulation

Abstract

Water is an environment element that is needed to support all human life. Peat water is containing a Natural Organic matter (NOM) that make it brown, taste and smelling. Peat water quality not suitable with water quality standards Permenkes No. 416/MENKES/PER/IX/1990. One of the peat water treatment methods used in this study is pre treatment of coagulation-flocculation and ultrafiltration membrane. This study aims to determine the removal efficiency of organic matter and turbidity in the pre treatment of coagulation-flocculation using coagulants Cengar Clay, coagulants Cengar Clay to decrease organic matter and turbidity, determine the performance of membrane for flux and rejection of organic matter and turbidity with and without pre treatment of coagulation-flocculation, determine decrease of organic matter and turbidity in peat water treatment using ultrafiltration membrane with pre treatment of coagulation-flocculation. The highest removal efficiency in coagulation-flocculation for organic matter parameter and turbidity obtained at a dose of 100 ml with a variation efficiency value of 47,733% dan 70,484%. The highest flux ultrafiltration membrane with and without pre treatment of coagulation-flocculation obtained at a pressure of 1,5 bar. Rejection coefficient organic matter and high turbidity ultrafiltration membrane without pre treatment is obtained at a pressure of 0,5 bar respectively by 20,6% dan 96,9%. Rejection coefficient organic matter and high turbidity ultrafiltration membrane with pre treatment is obtained at a pressure of 0,5 bar respectively by 92% dan 100%. Decrease in organic matter and turbidity with the pre treatment of coagulation-floccultion and ultrafiltration membrane from 118,5 mg/l KMnO4 to 9,640 mg/l KMnO4 and 31 NTU to 0 NTU.Keywords: Cengar Clay, Coagulation-Flocculation, Peat Water, Ultrafiltration Membrane.

Abstract

Tofu industry is a domestic industry largely do not have sewage treatment units, wherewastewater directly discharge into sewers or water bodies without treatment. The aims ofstudy observation the ability of constructed wetland using T. latifolia to removal, COD andTSS. The research variations were plant and detention time. Constructed wetland reactorusing plastics with dimension 50, 36, 31cm, in length x width x height and soil mediathickness of 10 cm, 5 cm sand and 5 cm gravel. T. latifolia plant density 0, 0,5, 0,75 and 1g/cm2, and variations detention time 1,2, and 3 day. Optimal results were obtained in plantsTypha latifolia 1 g/cm2 and detention time day to 3 there are COD 200 mg/L and efficiency of92,70%; TSS 153 mg/L with efficiency 87,90%;. Anova analysis results α = 5% show thevalue COD 98,8%; and TSS 92,8%. Wich explains that the plant density factor and detentiontime affect the the concentration reduction COD and TSS.Keywords: Thypa latifolia, Constructed wetland, Detention time, Wastewater tofu.

Abstract

The Regional Water Company (PDAM) has not been able to providing clean water in the city of Pekanbaru, one of which is the Bukit Raya subdistrict because of the many obstacles faced such as leaking pipes, the age of the pipe that is very old, and the quality of the Siak River water had been contaminated by heavy metals. So it is necessary to study the potential for surface water sources that could be developed, one of which is Sail River considered potentially to be used as a source of raw water. This study aims to determine the quantity of river discharge associated mainstay of Sail River, Sail river water balance and determine the quality of Sail River that can be used as a raw water source, in this case water providers to meet the needs of Bukit Raya subdistrict.The results of the calculation, 95% of the river discharge mainstay Sail River of 0,21 m3/sec. Clean water needs of domestic and non domestic in 2033 amounted to 0.283 m3/sec. Based on the amount of discharge is available on the river and the need for clean water is known Sail River water balance have deficit water amounted to -0,073 m3/sec. Results of laboratory tests of water quality in mind some of the parameters that does not comply with quality standards, such as pH, BOD, COD, DO, NH3, nitrogen, iron, sulfur as H2S, and total coliform. Abstract

Wastewater produced from palm oil industry could potentially cause pollution because it contains the value of COD and high organic matter that can effect the death of aquatic biota. Wastewater from the outlet Waste Treatment Unit PT. X is still above the quality standards set by the government. Therefore research on acute toxicity test of palm oil industry to determine the value of LC50 and to analyze the relationship of wastewater from the outlet Waste Treatment Unit PT. X towards the experimental animal. This research was done by renewal test method in 96 hours of observation by using Catfish (Pangasius sp.) as the test animals. LC50 value was calculated by probit method which utilized the catfish mortality and the parameters tested was DO, pH, temperature, COD,ammonia and nitrate. The characteristic value of wastewater of palm oil PT. X is COD 1426,8 mg/l, ammonia 0,9909 mg/l, nitrate 0,0075 mg/l, pH 8, DO 3 mg/l, and temperature 28°C which the parameter of COD passed the quality standar of the Environment Minister’s decision No. 51/MENLH/10/1995 about the Quality Standart of Waste Water for Palm Oil Industry. The result showed the value of LC50 is 9,878% and TUa (Toxicity Unit Area) of palm oil industrial wastewater is 10,22 showed that the wastewater of palm oil could make great acute toxicity.Keywords: catfish, palm oil wastewater,the value of LC50, renewal test.

Abstract

Undershot water wheel is appropriate technologies that raise the water level elevation of the river which was originally low for irrigation purposes with low cost. The water wheel is generally used in agricultural areas that do not get technical irrigation network. Water capacity capable be appointed the waterwheel is relatively low when compared with technical irrigation but the capacity could be increased if the factors affecting debits lifter of water can be optimized. These factors are the blades, the debit of flow, the position of box, the amount and type of box. The purpose of the research determines the dimensions of blade effective and debit of flow optimum which produces a maximum of debits lifter water. Research conducted in the laboratory to do the testing on the model undershot waterwheel. Model waterwheel was created in such a manner resembling a waterwheel in the field without scale models. Testing is done by varying the dimensions of the blade is the blade size of 6 cm × 4.5 cm, 6 cm × 6 cm and 6 cm × 7.5 cm, and then the flow rate is 3.07 l / sec, 3.8 l / sec and 5,99 l / sec and amount of box is 6, 12, 18, 24, 30 and 36 as well as the type of box that is type 1 (small size), type 2 (medium size) and type 3 (large size). The results showed the number of boxes 36 with a box type 3 in spoon size of 6 cm × 6 cm to debit of flow 5,99 l / sec produce maximum of debits lifter water that is equal to 38,17 ml /sec. It can be concluded dimention of spoon effective is the size of 6 cm × 6 cm and debit of flow that optimum is 5,99 l / sec.Keywords: undershot water wheel, dimension of blade, debit of flow

Abstract

There are several methods that can be used to predict discharge some future time, but the results still have relatively high error value. The use of models softcomputing a method that can be used to model a hydrological analysis such as forecasting discharge. Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is one softcomputing models that have proven reliability in conducting hydrological analysis as to forecast the flood discharge, and long reservoir inflow of seawater intrusion.Reliability ANFIS models need to be tested in the analysis of hydrological especially to predict discharge.ANFIS models were built to predict discharge using the main data is data on Tapung river left in the year 2002-2012 (except on taun 2007). Then ANFIS foresees the discharge of each of the data sources and analyze the magnitude of the error forecasting results debit ANFIS models. Then the forecast results will be compared with the results of forecasting with ANN method.Results discharge by using ANFIS models showed excellent results with test parameter value statistical correlation coefficient (R) of more than 0.75 are included in the category of correlation is very strong. To forecast results debit ANFIS models, yielding a value of correlation (R) of 0.99 while the forecast results debit ANN method produces a value of correlation (R) of 0.94903.Keywords: hydrological analysis, tidal forecasting, softcomputing, ANFIS.

Disaster Management Training Center in Riau is designed as aplace of education, training, and recreation in the field of disaster mitigation. This training centeraccommodate all disaster simulation activities either indoor or outdoor. The Disaster ManagementTraining Centre approaches Eco Architecture as the design theme. Not only space in outer spacebut also applying the principles of Eco Architecture. Disaster Management Training Centre toapply the concept of solidarity and humanity are qualities that should be possessed by humans.Solidarity and Humanity selected as a draft so that this region can later make a high level ofawareness of fellow human beings. Disaster Management Training Center in Riau has fourbuilding mass by applying the concept of solidarity and humanity as the basis for the formation andbuilding mass. Access the mass of the building's four interconnected in order to strengthen theconcept of solidarity and humanity in the draft. Abstract

In managing business and administrative, office becomes an important aspect for a company. To built a private office, company need a large amount of investment and sometimes can be a hard choices for particular of them. Therefor rental office become an alternative to solve this issue. For attract companies to be a tenant, rental office design take a part to give them prestigious values and giving great image brand for their company. Postmodern Architecture chosen to be applied for the Rental Office in Pekanbaru as a design approach. Using human’s movement as concept to get their flexibility and perception similiar to human’s movement with apply methapor as chosen design method in Postmodern Architecture. To get dynamic design exploration from the concept is transforms the movement to become architectural form on purpose to get proper rental office for tenants. And the design elements from The Rental Office in Pekanbaru with Postmodern Architecture is aplied to zoning, outdoor planning, mass order, indoor planning, and structure. Abstract

Building of music major is facility and infrastructure academic activity in STSR (Sekolah Tinggi Seni Riau) in Pekanbaru, which uses curriculum standard for advanced art in accordance to government regulation. This STSR music building uses tropical architecture in order to answer various set of problems related to climate that influence the site. Some of the tropical architecture principals applied in the design are: (1) building orientation; (2) maximise natural airing; (3) wide green open space; (4) responsive towards surroundings. Melody in Art is the chosen concept to answer various set of problems that appeared along designing process. This concept is applied in every architectural aspect of designing, such as; mass arrangement, mass shape/form, landscape, and building façade. Mass arrangement determines the public zone, semi-public, and private, spherical form and rectangle are transformed, interesting landscape arrangement composes musical score and facade is suited with surroundings. These explanations are the concept application of designing. This STSR music building has six masses and every mass has tilted roof to respond the climate, some masses have ventilation in order to let the air through inside the building, sun shading and overhand are used in every mass in order to minimize sun lighting into the building.Key Word: Building of music major ,Sekolah Tinggi Seni Riau, Tropical Architecture, Melody in Art.
