Abstract. The problem aims to improve student learning outcomes through the implementation of IPA contextual teaching and learning approach in the fourth grade students of SDN 013 Basilam Baru 2103/2014 school year the number of students 12 people, 4 boys and 8 girls. The design of this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The parameters measured were the result of student learning, teacher activity and student activity. While the research instrument used is the observation sheet items and teacher activity and student activity. Based on the results of the analysis of data from the discussion, the average student learning outcomes in the first cycle increased from an average of 6.63 as the initial data of 59 becomes 65.83. Average student learning outcomes in second cycle increased by 15.83 points from 65.83 into 81.66. The percentage of all teachers in the first cycle was 85.71% with both categories increased in the second cycle becomes 92.42% with very good category. The percentage of student activity in the first cycle was 75% with both categories increased in the second cycle becomes 92.85% with very good category. It can be concluded that the hypothesis is that if applied contextual teaching and learning approach can improve the results of the fourth grade students learn science SDN 013 Basilam Baru. Abstract :The background of this research is the lack of science learning outcomes of students, with an average grade 64.28 while the value of minimum completeness criteria (KKM) IPA is 70. Among the students who totaled 28 people only 11 students who achieve 39 KKM with classical completeness, 28 % . This study is a Class Action Research (CAR), which aimed to improve learning outcomes fifth grade science students of SD Negeri 145 Pekanbaru by applying Problem Based Learning Model. Formulation of the problem: Is the Problem Based Learning Model Application to Improve Student Learning Outcomes Science Elementary School Fifth Grade 145 Pekanbaru?. The research was conducted on the 15th of April to May 9, 2014 with 3 cycles. The subjects were students of class V SD Negeri145 Pekanbaru totaling 28 people who used the data source. Data collection instruments in this thesis is the teacher and student activity sheets and learning outcomes. The survey results revealed the results of student learning on a base score or prior to the application of problem -based learning model , the average student learning outcomes is increased in the daily quiz 64.28 I to 71.07 % . with an increase of 10.56 % in the second daily test increased to 79.1 % with the increase of 23.05 % and the daily test III increased to 89.46 % with an increase of 39.17 %. Abstrak : This research is motivated by the lack of a description of the student write a essay skills. It can be seen from the average value obtained students' writing skills in write a essay descriptive material is 63.50. Subjects in this study were students of class V SD Negeri 184 Pekanbaru. The method used is a classroom action research that will be conducted in two cycles. Based on the research results, the average value of the initial score essay writing skills of students is 63.25 to 45.00 % classical completeness In the first cycle class average value increased to 71.19, up 7.94 units of initial data with classical completeness percentage reached 62.50 %. Then the average value of the class on the second cycle into 80.24, an increase of 16.99 units classical completeness of the initial data has reached 90.00 %. Improved skills of essay writing is supported by : The average percentage of 71.43 % of teachers activity in both categories . In the second cycle the average activity of 83.93 % teachers with very good category, the increase in the average activity of the teacher of the first cycle to the second cycle of 12.5 points (17.5 %). The average percentage of student activities at 66.07 with both categories. In the second cycle average of 82.14% of student activity with excellent category, an average increase student activity from the first cycle to cycle II of 16.07 points (24.32 %). Based on the translation of the above it can be concluded that by applying the learning model PAIKEM fat can improve essay writing skills graders State V SD 184 Pekanbaru .Keyword : Paikem Gembrot, Essay Description
