Abstract

PT.X is a company engaged in offset printing industry. The company is located in Sidoarjo, East Java. Production process based on customer order, if there is a new order will be produced based on the ordered quantity. PT. X requires the allocation of the optimal number of operators so that the input and output of the production line can run in balance. PT.X has 37 operators allocated to each process. The allocation of operators is still a constraint and causes the production path becomes less balanced. The proposed improvement is to provide a proposed lane balancing design on the production line. Allocation of operator to production line by maximizing operator without adding new operator. Allocation of operators can improve the resulting good finish. The production output of the allocation produces 31632 sheets of paper within one hour of the production process. Total operators allocated as many as 37 operators. These outputs result in more than 20187 sheets of paper if compared with not allocating operators.

Abstract

This research is conducted to analize business feasibility study of food grade lubricants Petro-Canada brand for food and beverages industries in East Java. The number of medium large scale industries in Indonesia which engaged in processing food and beverage is 5.865 in 2012. East Java has 1906 food and beverage industries that needs 605.270 liters lubricats per year. Business feasibility study is analyzed using market analysis, technical analysis, legal analysis, and financial analysis. Data collection technique for market analysis is using questionnaire which was distributed to 25 food and beverages processing industries located in Surabaya and surrounding areas. Technical analysis showed the working system, business location, and company management. It is also supported by legality aspect of the law in business activities. The business requires initial investment of Rp 5.558.855.000, and will reach break even point in 21 months with 3 years internal rate of return up to 67%. Based on these analysis Petro-Canada food grad lubricants for food and beverage industries in East Java is feasible.

Abstract

This paper discusses about inventory and distribution systems in PT. Blue Sky Biotech branch especially in Surabaya. Surabaya branch often has too much Prosatu product in the end of the month and the distribution systems also still infefficent. The analysis of distribution and inventory systems will affect to the total cost and and the warehouse inventory itself. The distribution system will be analyzed from distriburion route at Jakarta, choosing distribution partner, and the distribution method itself. There is an elimination route of taman tekno-gunung sindur-taman tekno route to minimize transportation cost. For the distribution partner PT. Blue Sky Biotech has three alternatives, to use existing partner (using bus) or to change it with train or truck. Continuous review policy with reorder point method is proposed to control the inventory. The best alternative is the company deliver the products using truck, as distribution partner and continuous review policy to control the inventory. The combination can reduce the company expense around 64%.

Abstract

PT. X is a circuit breaker manufacturing company. The main problem at segment XYZ is production delayed, that is caused by less availability of BG Bimetall product. Line efficiency of BG Bimetall production line is 74,33% and ABC process have the longest production time. The design of kanban is needed to fulfill material requirement in BG Bimetall, so supply material in this process should not be delayed. The kanban design consist of kanban size calculation (1 kanban), kanban box design, and kanban card design for kanban signal. After implementation, BG Bimetall production line still has longer lead time (1077,59 minutes) than assembly production line (491,845 minutes). Several improvement suggestions to reduce BG Bimetall lead time are reducing setup time, eliminating unnecessary movements, and implementing overtime hour at BG Bimetall.

Abstract

Musa acuminata paradisiaca is one of banana varieties, has a high demand in East Java thus highly potential to be developed. The highest production sites are located at Malang and Lumajang. Unfortunately, this type of banana are perishable that limited the selling period. An alternative way to solve is via improving the supply chain management. In this research, we developed some supply chain models and evaluate there performance using simulation with Vensim software. We used sales profit, lost sales, oversupply and availability to measure performance of the models, supply chain management at Malang and Lumajang. The results show that supply chain at Lumajang performed better than Malang interms of sales profit, lost sales and availability.

Abstract

Competition in the industrial world forcing every company to have a strategy in their production process. Layout arrangement is one of the strategy that can be done so that the production process can run more efficiently. Two strategies that can be used in the layout arrangement are product layout and process layout. The initial layout, product layout, and process layout will be simulated by using Promodel software. Research in this final project will determine the best layout through the comparison of the four factors which are output of products, transportation time, operator utility, and moment. These results indicate that the process layout is better when compared with the initial layout and product layout of the four factors above. Comparison with the initial layout show that the product output from process layout can be increased by 37.49% for can product and 55.22% for lid product. Average transport time on the process layout can be decreased by 88.97%. The average operator utility on the process layout can be increased by 41.81%. Moment of the process layout can be decreased by 53.80%.

Abstract

PT. X is a manufacturing company that manufactures dermatological products. Inventory of raw materials becomes an important factor in production activities. This research focuses on the inventory and arrangement of  tube materials in the warehouse. The company is currently purchasing goods by estimating demand from past data and ROP. Determination of ROP and EOQ is done by using a simulation method. The results of simulation of raw material inventory show the total cost of proposed inventory and the percentage of shortage is better. The initial total cost of inventory is Rp3,616,786,638 and the proposed condition is Rp1,736,032,454. The inventory simulation results will be used to make for raw material arrangement layout proposal. The arragement proposal for tube materials is done by sorting fast moving products and slow moving products. Fast moving products are arranged with a dedicated storage policy, while for slow moving products are arranged with class based storage policy. The order of placement of each type of tube is based on the highest number of stocks. The arrangement proposal is better than the initial conditions based on warehouse utility and moments. The average warehouse utility increased by 1.82% and there was a reduction in the initial layout moment by 64.55%.

Abstract

PT.X is a private limited company which is operating in the furnishing sector. The company has a 22 meters x 45 meters warehouse located in Citraland that is used to store the imported good’s before reselling them to the customers. Current condition of the warehouse has caused some problems to occur which include the inefficiency of the product searching process and the discrepancy of the bookkeeping archives. The non-existence of a specified layout and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the warehouse storage system are the roots of these problems. Thus, establishing a proposal that aims for improving the warehouse storage system is essential to tackle the problems.                        The output of this research is a proposed warehousing system, consisting of procurement system, storage system, good’s preparation system, and good’s delivery system. Data that are needed for this research are the list of demands, list of purchases, product’s dimensions, and product characteristics. The layout improvement hopefully can facilitate warehouse operators in taking the good’s and other activities. The layout improvement is done by putting the good’s based on the largest flow. Additional improvements such as SOPs, defective criteria standards, and company documents improvement are expected to create a better documentation system, in order to reduce the occurrence of recording errors and good’s damage.

Abstract

PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia is a fodder company which is located in Surabaya – Mojokerto Street 26 Km, Krian City. This company consists of 4 areas which are feed mill area, raw material area, silo area, and finished good area. The company was in the preparatory stage SMK3 certification .Companies now want to evaluate the system of K3 with HIRARC that is one of the documents supporting SMK3 certification certification. If the company applies HIRARC, the dangerous activities in the company can be detected and the solution can be made immediately. As a result, the number of the accident in the workplace can be minimized. HIRARC method consists of 3 things which are hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control. The data which is processed with HIRARC is got from the interview, observation, and company’s data. The result of health and safety evaluation with HIRARC method through PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia is that there are still many dangerous activities; for example, an activity which has extremely high, high, and normal percentage of risk rating. The percentages of the dangerous activities in silo area are 8,82% in extremely high rate, 14,71% in high rate, and 47,06% in normal rate. On the other hand, the percentage of the dangerous activities in raw material warehouse are 14% in extremely high rate, 35% in high rate and 39% in normal rate. Those dangerous activities must be solved immediately by making risk control. The risk control which is suggested are giving sanctions, making checklist, maintaining the tools, replacing the tools if they are broken, changing the method, and giving training. The potential percentage of the dangerous activities which is expected to decrease in silo area is disappearing the extremely high risk, decreasing the percentage of the high and normal risk to 8,82%, and 23,53%. On the other hand, the potential percentage of dangerous activities which is expected to decrease in raw material warehouse is disappearing the extremely high risk, decreasing the percentage of high and normal risk to15,79% and 21,05%.

Abstract

PT. X produces Ardiles Kolonel school shoes for kids. Total order for Ardiles Kolonel is 6.600 boxes or 79.200 pairs from January 2016 until May 2016. This study focuses on improving efficiency in Ardiles Kolonel’s production process. Efficiency evaluation will be analyzed on five production divisions, at cutting process division, sewing process division, obras sewing division, injection process division, and packing process division. The data were gathered in several ways, such as doing interview and collecting historical data. As a result, PT. X can reduce cost by Rp 465,00 per each pair of Ardiles Kolonel size 35-38 at cutting process. At sewing process, PT. X should give more order to PT. Y, as a subcontract company, because PT. Y can sew more upper shoes in a short period time with cheapest price, compared to the others. At obras sewing division, one more operator is needed to help current operators on shoes’ upper obras sewing for 23,75 minutes per day to reach the target. At injection process division, PT. X should check the mold setting before the production process, and consider buying a set of shoes’ mold (size 31-34). At packing process, line balancing with Helgeson-Birnie method has grouped the work elements into 7 work stations with line efficiency is equal to 85,62%.
