Abstract

This research is originated from the current efficiency level of product distribution in PT. X which is considered low. This motivates the company to consider other transportation to distribute their products, which is train. PT. X sees train as a new opportunity as now there is double track in the system. On the other hand, train tends to have cheaper delivery costs than truck as the delivery distance increase. Method used to analyze the efficiency of both transportations is simulation. Observation has been made and the results shows that 50,55% of delivery route in Java and 77,97% of delivery route from Java to Sumatera can be replaced by train. Improvement and solution has also been proposed as a support for train distribution system so that the increase of overall efficiency can be achieved. The analyze of the system improvement shows result that the use of two point railway stations will reduce overall cost by 4,70%, while the use of three point railway stations will save overall costs by 5,02%.

Abstract

PT. X attempts to determine transporters’ workload with packing process outside production area. Packing process outside production area causes addition of transporter’s job description and packing process adjustment. Addition of transporter’s job description problem can be solved using DILO method and standardized production process in assembly & decoration department. The result of the DILO method shows AD2 transporters have BKI 71.73% (first shift) and 73.07% (second shift). This shows that AD2 transporters still has idle time, so it is not overload and they are able to run 95 minutes (22%) of additional work plan. The proposed work instructions are designed on X, Y and Z products. The packing trial is done for product A, B and C which have box capacity 210 pcs, 672 pcs and 825 pcs.

Abstract

PT Injaplast is one of the manufacturing company that produces weaving plastic bags (sacks). PT Injaplast had received customers’ complaint related to its quality, which are tear apart, sacks were broken, logo weren’t centered, sloping cutting, and miscolors. DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve and control) is one of the methods that are used to fix the problem. This final project is using cause and effect diagram as a tool to find the root cause of the problem. The proposed improvements are optimalizing the reject sacks with trial and error, using aid instruments, using work instruction, placing poster, maintenance scheduling, string addition, and additonal task to the operator. Quality plan is also given to improve the quality control. Implementation is performed on some of the proposed improvements which are placing poster on putting thread at creel, adding working instruction on loom process and using reject sacks. The result of this implementation showed that the defect percentage after cutting sacks is reduced by 0,39% and the defect percentage after the sacks have been printed is reduced by 0,25%.
