Abstract

The research builds a management information system software that can be used by organizer and trainees in the industry. Training information system that aims to improve the effectiveness of managing industrial training and improve employee access to competency information and industry training. It is expected that there will be an increase in employee competencies so that it has an impact on increasing industrial production. The e-IndT application is designed in the form of applications for organizer and training participants. The design of e-IndT application was tested using the balckbox method and questionnaire. Testing on the e-IndT training application for training organizer in the form of time to search for data access, enter data, update data, delete data, and send data via e-mail and SMS then compared with classical systems. Testing on the e-IndT application for training participants in the form of a questionnaire with a quantitative approach. The results of the study stated that the effectiveness of the management of industrial training increased with the processing time in e-IndT applications faster than classical systems. Increasing training participants' access to competency and industry training information is achieved as evidenced by more than 95% of respondents stating the ease of accessing training information.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison of SARA (racial/religional) issues sentiment between online news portal and social media. The sentiment analysis method has been applied in this study, by using IMM application during the period of 2018. The results concluded that either in online news portal or social media, SARA issues sentiment have been detected positively during January to August 2018. Generally, negative sentiment on social media tend to be higher compared to online news portal. This condition related to the nature of social media that allows its user to express their opinion freely. The highest percentage of negative sentiment on social media found in January 2018, while it happened a month later in the news portal. It shows that in certain conditions, social media could be more responsive regarding social issues compared to online news portal. Delay response in news portal mainly caused by editorial process and hierarchy system on responding an issue. The initial issue usually has brought up by social media, that followed by news portals in formal manner.

Abstract

Communication between teachers and students today still uses many conventional systems. With the advancement of computer technology, especially in the field of multimedia, it can be used as an innovative learning media. Multimedia created is an interactive film that can be controlled by the user / audience. Interactive films that are made useful to learn basic component parts in a personal computer. Interactive films begin with the basic display of a personal computer. Then the images in the interactive film can be selected by the user/audience to choose the part they want to learn. How to explain the basic components of a computer can be made interactive and interesting, and is preferred by many people. To create a multimedia presentation you can use a markup language, called SMIL (Syncronized Multimedia Integration Language). SMIL is a recommendation from the World Wide Web Consortium (www.w3c.org). SMIL is the same markup language as HTML and is a variant of XML. From the results of the application in several schools and universities in the city of Bandung, yielding positive results. Motivation from students to listen to the lesson material given increases, this makes the absorption rate of the learning material tested by giving test questions make the students' grades increase.

Abstract

Poverty has been a major problem for most countries around the world, including Indonesia. One approach to eradicate poverty is through equitable distribution of social assistance for target households based on Integrated Database of social assistance. This study has compared several well-known supervised machine learning techniques, namely: Naïve Bayes Classifier, Support Vector Machines, K-Nearest Neighbor Classification, C4.5 Algorithm, and Random Forest Algorithm to predict household welfare status classification by using an Integrated Database as a study case. The main objective of this study was to choose the best-supervised machine learning approach in predicting the classification of household’s welfare status based on attributes in the Integrated Database. The results showed that the Random Forest Algorithm was the best.

Abstract

A Celebrity as a person who is being worshipped, not only originated from an artist, such as musician, actor or actress that starring any movie but also could originate from the political context. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as a leader of the Republic of Indonesia is one of the celebrity examples with his massive narration on new media. Jokowi has a Facebook page and its content related to his activities. The content could be seen from communication perspectives as a manifestation of celebrity image. In the context of Presidential Election in 2019, the emergence of the content on Jokowi Facebook Page also could be understood as one platform that is used by his fans or public to gather some information in relation with a presidential candidate. This research is conducted using content analysis using QDA Miner in April 2018. This study resulting from that communication style that Jokowi is using tend to be setting the agenda’s function, policy issue’s topic, referential/neutral’s register, and storytelling’s stagecraft.

Abstract

The research is about analysis of communication network to travel-related EWOM IN social media Instagram on account  @exploremalang which researcher want to know how characteristic of network system formed and the usual messages in travel-related EWOM on account @exploremalang in Instagram. Paradigm which used is Post-positivism by unobtrusive methods data in collection data. The research used communication network analysis method and content analysis to know content of messages common said by actors, and how intimacy actors in the form of a travel-related eWOM.  Result of the research found structure of communication network in the form of global network Radial personal network from four photos which selected by researcher. Measurement showed cohesiveness in this network is low. Measurement of degree, betweeness and closeness dominated by actors who often mentions other actors. Then, obtained interlocking personal network click formed. Meanwhile structure of network, researcher also found sixth characteristic of travel-related EWOM.

Abstract

The digital revolution has changed the practice of new media era journalism with a various journalistic display. One of them is the phenomenon of the use of Netizens' statement as a source of news on the news production in online media. The flaming of the development of the news cannot be separated from the influence of netizen opinion on giving comments or statements on an issue in the virtual realm. This study departs from the purpose of knowing how to use the statement of netizens as news sources on online media in a journalistic ethical perspective. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The results showed that the use of statement from netizens as a source of news was the process of producing news content on online media by taking netizen comments through observing the virtual world. From a journalistic ethics perspective, the use of the statement of netizens as a news source is not a violation as long as it fulfills the credibility and verification requirements. While in terms of credibility, it was found that some sources from netizens did not meet the credibility-standards of news sources.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the development of business strategies in a turbulent business environment. The study involved leaders of several telecommunication business units in Indonesia as research respondents. The research used the descriptive and the explanatory survey method using Partial Least Square-Path Modeling (PLS-PM). The results showed that although the business strategies of the telecommunication companies in Indonesia were included in the good category; however, they were still not optimal because were mostly created through competitive strategy. Whereas, the cooperative strategy turned out to have a more dominant contribution to create superior competitive advantage in a turbulent business environment. The study also discussed problem solving on how the companies should formulate the business strategy in a turbulent business environment and recommended on how to maintain the sustainability of the telecommunication industries in Indonesia.

Abstract

Issue of land grabbing and its relevation, such as violence, discrimination and criminalization of peasents, often escapes from the mainstream of the media. For this reason, a strategy is needed to make the people become aware of the issue of land grabbing. So far the strategy that has been done by activists, academics and related parties to defend the peasents who have been violence, discriminated and criminalized with conventionally. The purpose of this study is to analyze the communication strategies of peasant resistance movements on social media. The method used in this study is virtual etnography with participatory online observation techniques through two stages; studying and carrying out details the object. The researcher doing online partisipatif observation to the Instagram accounts @jogja_darurat_agraria by identifying elements of: communicators, communicants, messages, media, and effects. The results showed that the account already has carried out a well strategy communication, so that their ideological message well deliver to the communicant. The online activism of the peasant movement is the first step to mobilize the people to move in real terms.

Abstract

Violent communication in the household is the act of an abnormal communication of the husband on the wife that brings up the inconvenience of harmonious households. This study aimed to describe the motives, purport, and acceptance of in household violence treatment experienced by Muslim women in the Maluku. The research method used was the phenomenology that focused on purport study. This research used a qualitative approach based on the constructivist paradigm.  The data was collected through in-depth interviews and observations of the ten married Muslim women in Maluku. They were chosen by snowball sampling technique. The result showed that the in hosehold violence for Muslim women in Maluku have a "because" motive, such as: adultery, polygamy, communication barriers, disobedience of wife-husband fulfills its obligations, default character, unemployment, social patriarchy, economic dependency, neglect, the fulfillment of economic, religious, as well as social solidarity, and the " in order to" motive, such as: problem-solving, cover the shortage of husband, feeling happy on conquering women, as well as responsibility. The meaning of the in household violence experienced showed physical violence, psychological, economic, and sexual violent.
