Abstract

Performance evaluation is essential for an industry's ability to operate successfully. Efficiency management is becoming crucial and important to enhancing the sustainability of the industry. The industry needs to measure its performance for the following reasons: (i) develop the economy and its operation efficiency in a sustainable way; (ii) supply data for decision-making units (DMUs); and (iii) optimize output using the fewest resources. Performance measurement indicators relate to the performance of the industry itself, such as: added value/cost of production factors, indirect taxes, number of workers, input costs, number of companies, added value/market prices, and production index. The purpose of this research is to measure the performance of large and medium-sized industries (LMIs) in Indonesia. LMIs have a strategic role as the main engine and driver of the economy. Measuring LMI performance is very necessary so that LMI can grow and develop sustainably. Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a method for measuring performance. DEA is a non-parametric linear programming technique and used to determine comparisons between DMUs with different inputs and outputs. The research results indicate that there are three DMU classification categories, namely: Category 1 (ES = 1), Category 2 (ES = 0.9986-0.9998), and Category 3 (ES = 0.9971-0.9974). The percentages for each category are 50%, 37.5%, and 12.5%.

Abstract

Koperasi Unit Desa (KUD) aims to improve the welfare of members by carrying out harvesting process activities in Lubuk Kembang Sari, Riau. The problem that often occurs is collecting oil palm fruit which is still done manually by bending or squatting. Previously there was a manual tool which had shortcomings in the form of the design of the chute section which was still less than optimal in the trajectory of throwing the brochures into the container, sometimes the brochures were thrown upwards instead of backwards into the reservoir. Another drawback is that when carrying tools if the distance is quite far then this process is a little difficult. The aim of this research is to develop a loose picker tool from existing design references to increase time efficiency. The development of tools for picking up palm oil loose ends was carried out using the VDI (Verein Deuscher Ingenieure) 2221 method. Development using this method began with analyzing the shortcomings of existing tools and developing farmers' desires and needs for the specifications of new oil palm loose picking tools. After the design concept is created, the next step is to create a customized design using the user's body anthropometry, and the final step is to carry out trials on the palm oil harvester picking tool. This research resulted in a new palm oil harvester tool that is capable of picking up palm oil stalks. The comparison between manual collection and the new tool is that the new tool can speed up the collection time by 28%. A time comparison was also made using the old tool with the new tool, it turns out that the new tool can speed up the time by 54%. Based on user satisfaction tests, the tool is easy for users to operate and is automatic. Keywords: Palm oil fruit, manual tools, time efficiency, VDI 2221

Abstract

The world is experiencing rapid change, leading to transformations in human lifestyles that necessitate adaptation. However, the aviation industry appears to have reached a point of stagnation. Soekarno-Hatta International Airport must adapt to the new needs and demands of passengers by implementing necessary changes and incorporating the latest available technologies. To gain a deeper understanding of passenger satisfaction regarding the service quality at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the SERVQUAL method and Binary Logistic Regression Analysis will be employed. Both methods aim to identify services that has significant impact and determine the relative influence of these services on the overall service quality at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The results of the SERVQUAL method in this study indicate that there are 14 services at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport that do not meet passenger satisfaction standards, with a need for particular attention to the reliability dimension. Subsequently, the Binary Logistic Regression analysis results indicate that only parking price and ambiance significantly influence passenger satisfaction, with the likelihood of increasing satisfaction being 1.7732783 and 2.0773711 times respectively. Focus should be placed on improving operational accuracy through stringent Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and comprehensive staff training, reducing supplementary expenses like toll charges, expanding parking facilities, and optimizing parking flow, improving illumination, customer engagement, and noise control measures.

Abstract

Battery waste needs to be managed immediately and thus electric vehicles (EVs) become more popular as a sustainable replacement for internal combustion engine vehicles. This review discusses waste battery recycling industry practices and emphasizes the need for authorized battery management services for electric motorcycles. This gap allows third-party businesses not affiliated with the primary manufacturer to emerge and potentially grow sustainably. The literature review methodology involves an in-depth search of relevant literature using the Scopus database with strategically selected keywords. The VoS Viewer collects, organizes, and graphically maps references to synthesize them orderly. The search initially yielded 138 relevant articles. This number was then narrowed to 66 articles published in English journals. Thirty-nine articles were found when the search was modified to focus on full-text availability. These findings indicate an important need for more targeted research to design effective management frameworks for recycling waste batteries in electric motorbike workshops. All critical components increased waste management awareness and expertise among workshop managers, government policies, funding support, and a well-coordinated supply chain. This assessment identifies barriers to developing a viable battery waste recycling sector and makes recommendations for future policy and research initiatives.

Abstract

National Waste Management Information System shows that the amount of waste handled in Semarang City over the last three years has decreased with an average decline index of 1.06% per year. This is reinforced by the results of interviews with the Semarang City Environmental Service, that the handling of organic waste is still very limited because so far the handling has been more focused on an-organic waste. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate supply chain performance to determine the constraints in organic waste management from upstream to downstream. Based on the research results using the Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) method through a focus group discussion process involving eight experts in the field of waste management, it is known that the supply chain performance for handling organic waste in Semarang City has 11 elements of constraints, which are divided into seven priority levels. The element with the highest priority is related to the availability of organic waste supplies, while the element with the lowest priority is technological innovation and the application of appropriate technology. Improving the performance of organic waste management supply chains should focus on elements according to priority.

Abstract

Production scheduling is generally based on the assumption that resources are always available. In reality, these resources, machines, and supporting facilities experience limited availability due to interruptions during the production process. Therefore, to improve these conditions, the maintenance process conducted to reduce the disruption level of the machine needs to be scheduled as part of the available for job processing leading to penalty costs, such as tardiness and earliness. This research aims to develop a new algorithm to solve job shop scheduling problems to minimize the total penalty cost by considering machine unavailability due to scheduled maintenance activities. The proposed model modifies the existing model using a combination of priority rules and a heuristic approach algorithm known as priority dispatching. The result showed that the proposed model produces a greater total cost with a larger flow time than the previous model. Although the flow time is larger, it is more realistic according to real conditions because the proposed model considers machine maintenance activities. Furthermore, the combination of priority rules used also affected the flow time and the total penalty costs incurred, which can be minimized through several alternatives.
