Abstract

Low oil price environment impacted to business of Oil and Gas Company including PT. SDEC. However, PT. SDEC was able securing limited and fixed capital budget to drill well and had committed to drill certain well number to Government of Indonesia. When the initial 12 wells were completed with longer cycle time (average 9.9 days/well) than business plan (7.5 days/well) and also higher cost, the problem became more complex because company need to complete well as per commitment and in other hand no additional capital will be spent by parent company if actual expenditure exceeded the initial budget. Company assigned a team to solve the problem through Lean Six Sigma. Through strong collaboration among team, the project execution performance was improved (the Cp of drilling cycle time was improved from 0.06 to 1.08). As the result of this project save cost around $ 2.8 million.

Abstract

Sustainability concept often used by big companies to help them sustain through the uncertainty of industrial’s scene. This research aims to design a precise guideline of how to implement sustainability concept by considering economic, environment, and social aspect as the main components of sustainability. Lean, green, and agile manufacturing will represent each aspect and will be used as primary indicators to contrive the concept’s guideline. VIKOR analysis was used to assign enablers and barriers of each indicator. This research was conducted at PT. XYZ Tbk, one of the national leading company in producing timber products such as plywood, fiberboard, and blockboard. As a result, This research proposed several alternative strategies based on selected enablers and barriers. The selected enablers are employee involvement, core competency, people and information, resource efficiency, and the selected barriers are lack of knowledge about lean, high short-term cost, power shortage, and lack of awareness.

Abstract

PT XYZ is a State-Owned Enterprise that produces military equipment. Due to an increasing demand for such equipment every year, ammunition box sub-department asked their workers to work overtime and the total cycle time of ammunition box lid is higher than that of the ammunition box. Heuristic approaches, namely the Birnie Helgeson (RPW) and Moodie Young, are used to overcome these issues. This study aims to improve line balancing efficiency of ammunition box production. The findings showed that the Moodie Young method resulted in a 7.98% increase in line efficiency of the ammunition box lid and 21.77% increase in that of the ammunition box. In addition, the balance delay value decreased as much as the line efficiency. There are 9.09 and 152.87 decrease in the smoothing indexof the ammunition box lid and the ammunition box. The Moodie Young method cut the total labor cost to 9,597,170 rupiahs.

Abstract

This study is initiated from a perspective that OPEX is not one of the mainstream issues in the area of productivity improvement. However, the potency of OPEX applied to assist the management to improve the productivity is solid. From the literature review, it is found that this circumstance is probably caused by the confusions of the researcher and management about OPEX. In this paper, OPEX is then considered as a business strategy in order to narrow the discussion and reduce the confusion. As a business strategy, it is important to develop a framework to apply it in every level of organisation. Because, framework of OPEX has not yet found, a framework is proposed in this research based on the structure of OPEX. The framework is then applied in two case studies at two different company. The result shows that the framework is capable to assist the management to achieve the goal of OPEX.

Abstract

Manufacturing organizations faces many changes along with the occurrence of environmental changes, it comes from internal and external sources. Innovation become one of the keywords to help the organizations be more competitive, such as doing product development. First, digging through from the survey, the customer’s needs as the initial planning phase, concept development, system level design, detail design, test and reparation details among the beginning of production. During the product development process, the Organization has not identified the potential waste in detail yet at each stage of product development. Moreover, the repair process becomes less effective. By using this concept, it will help in potential waste identify. The results showed that the stage of concept development had the highest frequency, for instance the common of lacking information related to the customers need products information which will be developed. Then, frequency is happened on the stage of the testing, and refinement, detail design, system level design and planning. Through the concept of lean VSM can be known by using a value of VA 53%, NVA 29% and 18% Waste, time to market can be shortened 18% or 47 days from early 262 days be 215 days.

Abstract

Many companies managed to improve logistics performance by making outsourcing decisions on logistics activities. The use of logistics outsourcing, not only can maintain their focus on core businesses, but also continue to minimize distribution costs by establishing relationships with third party service providers to create value of their operational performance excellence. But in a decentralized supply chain condition, the control of the supply chain players towards third-party logistics service providers is also limited, while the performance of logistics services affects the availability of products, quality, price, and market share of these companies. Coordination mechanisms are needed in a decentralized supply chain, especially with the implementation of logistics outsourcing decisions, so companies can maintain competitive advantage. In this paper, the model revenue and inventory-risk sharing contract was developed to coordinate the supply chain consisting of manufacturers, third party logistics service providers, and retailers. In addition, incentive and penalty schemes are applied based on the performance of logistics service providers that will affect the level of availability in retailers, so that inventory risk can also be allocated to all stakeholders.

Abstract

In this paper, we studied ant colony optimization for solving integrated scheduling of production and distribution problems. We improved the ant colony optimization by adding double selections, there are, roulette wheel and elitism selections. Roulette wheel selection is used to determine the path where ants pass through before knowing pheromone information in that path. Meanwhile, elitism selection is used to keep the best solution before the more optimum solution obtained. Then, ant colony optimization and improved ant colony optimization are implemented in solving integrated scheduling of production and distribution problem in PT. BFPI. The aim of this paper is to achieve optimum production and distribution schedule in order to minimize the total cost of production and distribution. We also compare performance of both applied methods and draw the conclusion. The results show that the method we proposed has more advantage.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country which becomes the third largest producer of rice in the world. However, Indonesia still carries out rice importing and the rice is classified high-priced. One of the factors causing those problems is the lack of efficiency of rice milling process. Pandeglang Regency is a region which has the largest rice field in Banten. As the largest agricultural territory and a qualified rice producer, it must be possible to have rice-milling means. The rice-milling process does not always produce a constant output amounts, it can be increased or decreased, despite the use of a constant input amounts. Thus, efficiency measuring of rice-milling process is needed to find out the output increase or input decrease used in rice-milling process in order to reach an efficient point. Method applied in measuring the efficiency is AHP/DEA method. Based on acquired research results, the efficiency level at the research location was 90.01% in which from 11 rice-milling processes there was one inefficient rice-milling process which was the C rice-milling process.Keyword: AHP/DEA; efficiency; inefficiency; rice milling process.
