Computer vision syndrome is a complex ocular problems that translates to discomfort feeling on eyes due to high visual demands of computer viewing. Hence, this study aim to know the relationship between amount of computer usage and computer vision syndrome. Methods: An analytical observational cross sectional study was conducted involving Sinarmas Bank employees. Subjects were collected using purposive sampling method, based on inclusive and exclusive criteria. Data regarding computer vision syndrome were obtained using a questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed with Chi-square test followed by Coefficient Contingency test. Result: This study revealed that 29 subjects (46.0 %) who used computer for more than 4 hours experienced computer vision syndrome, while subjects who used computer for 2-4 hours and less than 2 hours did not show computer vision syndrome. Significance value of the relationship between amount of computer usage and computer vision syndrome in Sinarmas Bank employees shown by Chi square test was p=0.000. Hence, there was significant association between the variables. Coefficient contingency test result also demonstrated that there was a strong association between amount of computer usage and computer vision syndrome in Sinarmas Bank employees (c=0.707). Conclusion: This study statistically stated that there is a significant relationship between amount of computer usage and computer vision syndrome in Sinarmas Bank employees. Keywords: Computer Vision Syndrome, Amount of Computer Usage.Â

This research aimed to determine the probability of relationship between the Intensity of Playing Video Game and Working Memory Capacity in Students of Faculty of Medicine at Sebelas Maret University. Methods: This research was an analytical observational study with cross-sectional approach, conducted in Faculty of Medicine of Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. The sample consisted of 109 students and was performed by utilizing total sampling technique with the restriction of inclusion and exclusion criteria. All respondents were asked to fill questionnaires of Lie Scale Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (L-MMPI) in order to measure their honesty scale, Scale for the Assessment of Pathological Computer-Gaming (in German language: Skala zum Computerspielverhalten/CSV-S) to measure their intensity of playing video game, and Reading Span Test to measure their working memory capacity. This research applied analytical methods of chi-square and logistic regression test. Results: This research pointed out that there were 20 students (18.3%) who intensely play video games and have a high rate of working memory capacity. The data analysis of chi-square test indicated that p=0,000 with Odds Ratio 16,364. The data analysis of logistic regression test established that the intensity of playing video games is the most significant risk factor and variable toward working memory capacity. Conclusion: The intensity of playing video games relates positively to working memory capacity in Students of Faculty of Medicine at Sebelas Maret University. The assesment of cognitive function was done by using the Indonesian version of Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA-Ina). The data were analyzed using chi square and multiple logistic regression. Results: The result of analytic test between hypertension and cognitive impairment showed significant relation (OR = 7.59; CI 95% = 1.73 â 33.30; p = 0,007). There was significant relation between smoking activity and cognitive impairment (OR = 0.07; CI 95% = 0.01 â 0.40; p = 0.003). Level of education and hypertension duration showed non significant relation to cognitive impairment with each value is p = 0.059; p = 0.697. Conclusions: Hypertension is a factor that increases the risk of cognitive impairment and smoking is a factor that decreases the risk of cognitive impairment. The amount of 150 medical students were selected by purposive sampling. Electromagnetic exposure from mobile phone and laptop computer was obtained by Mobile Phone or Laptop Computer Usage Questionnaire. Electromagnetic exposure was measured by mobile phone or laptop computer on top of lap usage duration per day. Sleep quality was obtained by PSQI questionnaire. Data were statistically analyzed using Spearman test with SPSS for Windows edition 20. Result. This research involved 41 males and 109 females. The amount of 139 subjects (92.7%) used mobile phone in high level, whereas 73 subjects used laptop computer above their laps. From those 73 subjects, 52 subjects (71.2%) used laptop computers in low level. The Spearman analysis indicated that there was no significant association between electromagnetic exposure from mobile phone and sleep quality (p=0.198; r=0.106) as well as electromagnetic exposure from laptop computer and sleep quality (p=0.133; r=-0.178) of medical students. Conclusion. There were no significant associations between electromagnetic exposure from mobile phone or laptop computer with sleep quality of medical student.
