Abstract

The aim of the research was to study the impacts of retail consumer’s 4 C (character, capacity, collateral and capital) on the credit quality performance of finance company. The credit quality of the consumer was analyzed using a behavior scoring system. The dependent variable was the credit quality, i.e. the non performing financing of more-than-90-day-payment due. The independent variables were the characteristics, capacity, collateral, and capital of the debtors. The samples were customers who got financing from 2013–2014 and were cut off due to delinquency by the end of 2015. Total samples were 750 customers who purchased 4 wheelers. In this research, the econometrics model was regression binary logistic model. In the model, the dependent variable was the dummy variable of customers whose delinquency was under 90-day payment due and was given 0, and the customers with delinquency more than 90-day payment due were given 1. The empirical results showed that collateral and capital had significant influence on credit quality. The collateral was represented by the title of the car ownership (title of ownership). The capital was represented by the financing tenor, at significance level = 0.05. The financing company should focus on the types of collateral, down payment, title of ownership and tenor of financing in determining credit decision. Keywords: consumer, credit, finance company, lending, logistic

Abstract

The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) is an index used as an indicator of stock price movements on Indonesia Stock Exchange and reference of capital market activities. Stock securities have high risk because they do not have maturity such as bonds so volatility is one of the important things in stock investment. Investor sentiment is one of many external factors that affecting stocks volatility. Investor sentiment is one of behavioral finance assumptions which may cause systematic risk with noise so it affects stocks volatility. Therefore it is necessary to analyze the development of investor sentiment and its impact on IHSG volatility. This study used Business Tendency Index as investor sentiment proxy and monthly IHSG. Bank Indonesia Certificates is used to get excess return. GJR-GARCH method is used in this study along the periode from January 2001 to December 2015. The results showed that there is significant effect of investor sentiment on excess return. As investors are optimistic, the uncertainty in stock market will increase while IHSG volatility will increase as the average investor is pessimistic. There is noticeable leverage effect in the presence of negative shocks resulting in higher conditional variance changes compared to positive shocks on the same magnitude. Keywords: volatility, investor sentiment, GJR-GARCH, behavioral finance, IHSG

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to examine empirically the relationship between national competitiveness and national culture. The study applied exploratory research design with national culture and national competitiveness treated as two independent variables. Hofstede’s national culture categorization namely masculinity, individualism, uncertainty avoidance, power distance, and long-term orientation was adopted. Cultural Index by GLOBE study and Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) by the World Economic Forum were used for the measurement. Descriptive statistic along with bivariate correlation analysis was used in this study. A number of samples involved in this study was 58 countries. The study concludes that national competitiveness is positively and significantly associated with national culture namely long-term orientation, uncertainty avoidance, and individualism. National competitiveness has a negative association with power distance national culture. However, national competitiveness was indicated no association with masculine national culture. The findings conclude that in general, national culture is a factor that explains why there are differences in national competitiveness among countries around the world. A suggestion for future similar research is that control variable such national income as well as the application of more sophisticated statistical analysis method should be included. Keywords: exploratory study, global competitiveness index, national culture; national competitiveness; national culture index

Abstract

The aims of the research are to: identify the supply chain of broiler in Sierad Produce Co; calculate the value added of activities occurring in some supply chain stakeholders; measure the supply chain working performance of broiler in Sierad Produce Co; and formulate strategies recommended to increase the supply chain working performance of broiler in Sierad Produce Co. This research used data analysis methods: Asian Productivity Organization (APO) for analyzing the general situation of supply chain; Hayami mathematical model for processing the data regarding the value added analysis of supply chain stakeholders; SCOR Model for metrical plan of supply chain working performance measure; Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method for determining the metrical weights of supply chain working performance measure; and Analytic Network Process (ANP) for determining the priority of strategic alternatives to increase the supply chain working performance of broiler in Sierad Produce Co. The results of value added analysis have shown that the food processing industries (downstream sector) enjoy the highest value added. Accordingly, the researcher summarized a number of points as follows: Firstly, the highest capital return in the poultry industry is caused by technological factors. Secondly, the supply chain working performance measure result shows that low working performance of commercial farm is caused by non-adaptable company in fulfilling the demand of Chicken Slaughter House. The last, the working performance increase strategic formulation result has shown that increase of Human Resources’ skill or ability is the most influential strategical alternative to supply chain working performance increase in Sierad Produce Co.Keywords: AHP, ANP, poultry industries, supply chain management, SCOR
