Abstract

Introduction. Pustaka Bisa is a collaborative initiative between the Library Service and PT Adaro Indonesia, implemented as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme. However, based on field observations, the program’s impact on increasing residents’ economic capacity and literacy culture has remained limited. Research Methods. Using a qualitative descriptive method based on field research, data were collected through interviews with librarians, village managers, the Library Service, and PT Adaro Indonesia. Data Analysis. Interview and field data were analyzed to identify the implementation, challenges, and impacts of the social inclusion literacy program in Tabalong Regency. Results. The results of the analysis revealed that the program’s success still largely depended on one librarian with strong initiative. In addition, it is necessary to focus more on the role of other librarians. Focusing on the program’s sustainability, the results also showed that the lack of integration between library materials and training, weak post-training assistance, and limited synergy between agencies. Conclusion. This study concludes that it is essential to enhance librarian capacity, integrate literacy programs with local economic development, and establish collaborative policies among local governments, the private sector, and the central government.

Abstract

Introduction. The Museum of the Asian-African Conference, through its Literacy Festival, presents innovative library services that integrate educational, historical, and architectural elements into a unified visitor experience. This study aims to implement a literacy tourism development model that integrate architectural design and library services offering a new approach to strengthening immersive and contextual literacy learning. Research Methods. A qualitative case study approach was applied, with data collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and visual documentation during the festival. Data Analysis. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the data with several steps such as data reduction, categorization, and narrative interpretation to explore the interaction between space and services. Results. The narrative architectural design, featuring chronological spatial layouts, thematic lighting, and quotations from world figures, evoked emotional and cognitive responses from visitors. Library services including exhibitions, workshops, and book discussions encouraged cross-generational engagement and strengthened historical literacy. Conclusion. The integration of colonial architecture and participatory library services creates an immersive literacy tourism model that combines cognitive, emotional, and cultural learning. This study offers an interdisciplinary perspective that positions architecture as a narrative medium within library services, providing practical insights for libraries and museums in developing experience-based literacy programs.

Abstract

Introduction. Bibliotherapy is a therapy practice that uses reading materials to assist people in overcoming mental health issues. The purpose of this study is to identify publication patterns, prominent actors, and prevalent themes in the bibliotherapy and mental health literature. Research Methods. This study employs a bibliometric approach, with data drawn from the Scopus database. The search was conducted using the keywords bibliotherapy and mental health between 2005 and 2025, resulting in 219 documents evaluated. Data Analysis. The analysis covers annual contributions, nations, institutions, authors, journals, and keywords. Data visualization was carried out using VOSviewer to map collaborative networks and theme clusters of bibliotherapy research globally. Results. The findings indicate that while issues like psychological well-being, patient participation, and positive psychology-based techniques are still comparatively infrequently investigated, the themes of bibliotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, depression, and anxiety dominate publications. Conclusions. This analysis verifies the dominance of clinical topics in bibliotherapy research and demonstrates a research vacuum in welfare issues and the broader context of application. Further research is proposed to examine the range of ways and broaden the keywords in order to make the development of bibliotherapy science more comprehensive and useful.

Abstract

Introduction. Limited learning resources are a major obstacle to improving the quality of education in Indonesia. Digital libraries offer a potential solution to the problem of accessibility to learning resources. This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of digital libraries as a source of learning for students, from a sociological perspective. Research Methods. A quantitative descriptive method was used with a population of students majoring in Sociology of Religion at UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon. The sample was determined through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and document studies, then analysed using statistical description techniques. Results. The results of the study show that the “Lumbung Ilmu” Digital Library significantly increases student productivity through efficient and flexible access. This implementation has successfully shifted learning behaviour to be more independent and encouraged a culture of scientific literature exploration in line with developments in modern learning styles. Conclusion. The development of the “Lumbung Ilmu” Digital Library has proven effective in meeting the literature needs of Religious Sociology students and has become an adaptive medium that optimises the integration of technology in the higher education ecosystem to support social learning activities.

Abstract

Introduction. This paper investigates the role of micro-credentials and digital badges in reinforcing information literacy and professional development within academic libraries. It assesses the benefits and challenges of these tools in continuous education at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. Research Methods. Using a descriptive survey design, the study involved 406 undergraduate and postgraduate students selected via stratified random sampling from the Faculty of Education. Data Analysis. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire and analysed using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage and mean). Hypotheses were tested using T-test and ANOVA at a 0.05 significance level. Results. The results show that overall participation was fairly low, even though respondents generally believed the programme was beneficial for improving employability and supporting lifelong learning. The analysis also found clear differences across age groups: older professionals were more actively involved than younger ones. Perceptions of benefit differed by level of education as well: participants with associate degrees rated the programme as most valuable, while those with doctoral degrees perceived the least benefit. Conclusion. Micro-credentials serve as vital tools for verifiable skill acquisition. However, tailored strategies are necessary to address demographic variations and increase adoption rates for effective professional development.

Abstract

Introduction. This study analyses the development of soft skills among librarians at the Indonesian State Islamic University (PTKIN) in the context of AI-based technological transformation, using the ADKAR model as an analytical framework. Research Methods. A descriptive quantitative survey targeted 83 librarians from a pool of 470 PTKIN librarians, using a Likert-scale questionnaire across five ADKAR dimensions: awareness, desire, knowledge, ability, and reinforcement. Data Analysis. Descriptive statistics (frequencies, percentages, and mean scores) identified dominant dimensions and readiness gaps by education, tenure, and position. Results. Awareness, desire, and ability were dominant (>70% positive responses) among Bachelor’s/Master’s degree holders and 11-20 year veterans. Knowledge and reinforcement showed gaps (<6% contribution) for Diploma staff and support roles, indicating an imbalance in AI adoption and weak institutional support. Conclusion: The paper recommends that the targeted professional programs are necessary to boost AI literacy, digital adaptability, and collaboration, guiding PTKIN libraries in tiered training, mentoring, and policies for sustainable AI integration.

Abstract

Introduction. A concrete collaboration model is necessary to provide a practical reference for communities and libraries to play a role in building an information society. This study explores the synergy between women’s empowerment groups, particularly PEKKA and village libraries in building an information society to empower marginalized women, to improve access to information, and to enhance community literacy, especially in rural areas such as Sindanglaya Village, Cianjur. Research Methods. A qualitative case study approach was employed. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis with six informants selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data Analysis. The data were analyzed and triangulation was applied to ensure data validity. Results. The findings reveal that PEKKA initiated most collaborative programs while the village government provided financial and facility support. PEKKA members also contributed indirectly to the development and promotion of the Sindanglaya Village Library. The partnership increased women’s participation, confidence, and recognition in the community, as well as enhancing library usage and literacy awareness in the village. Conclusion. The effective synergy strengthens social inclusion, improves access to information, and fosters community empowerment. A partnership model is proposed to illustrate the roles, stages, and impacts of this collaboration in building an inclusive information society.

Abstract

Introduction. The transformation of library services driven by the development of artificial intelligence (AI) has raised serious challenges related to the protection of user privacy and data security. This study aims to systematically analyze the role of libraries in enhancing data privacy awareness. Research Methods. This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The literature search was conducted using the Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, Springer, and Taylor & Francis databases, covering publications from 2022 to 2025. Data Analysis. The selection process based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria resulted in 20 articles, which were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach. Results. AI is widely used in library services, while libraries play a strategic role in promoting data privacy awareness through policies, security, and ethics-based digital literacy. Conclusion. The findings confirm that libraries are not only information providers but also key actors in promoting data privacy awareness through policy development, user education, and ethical governance of AI-based services.

Abstract

Introduction: This study explores how postgraduate students at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta use online databases to improve the quality of their doctoral dissertations.It examines perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and factors influencing students’ willingness to use online databases during dissertation preparation. Research Methods: The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using semi-structured interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and document analysis involving 30 doctoral students. Data Analysis: Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Matthew B. Miles and A. Michael Huberman, with triangulation and member checking applied to ensure validity and credibility. Results: The findings indicate that online database use enhances dissertation quality through five dimensions: expanded literature horizons, clearer identification of research gaps, stronger academic credibility, accelerated writing processes, and improved academic self-confidence. Challenges include limited access to premium databases, language barriers, interface complexity, and uneven information literacy. Conclusion: Acceptance of online databases shapes dissertation quality beyond usage intention. Perceived ease of use and usefulness translate into concrete academic outcomes, extending the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by linking technology acceptance with academic quality in Islamic higher education.

Abstract

Introduction. This study interprets policy texts on Generative AI in higher education through an ethical and existential lens, using a hermeneutic-phenomenological approach to explore how they cultivate critical awareness and ethical responsibility in AI use for learning. Research Methods. The research uses Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutic phenomenological approach to analyze GenAI policy texts in higher education, revealing how the constructs that shape ethically oriented AI discourse. Data Analysis. The data analyzed consist of policy texts on the use of GenAI in higher education. The analyses were conducted through thematic coding to identify the main topics, followed by hermeneutic interpretation to reveal the deeper meaning constructed by the texts within the context of ethics and education. Result. The analysis revealed four key findings: the interpretation of GenAI as a learning aid, the emphasis on ethics and academic integrity, the tension between regulation and institutional autonomy, and the transformation of the lecturer-student relationship. Collectively, these findings indicate that GenAI policies cultivate a new awareness of the ethical use of technology within higher education institutions. Conclusion. The GenAI policy is not merely a technical guide but a discourse that shapes the academic community’s ethical awareness, fostering a critical and responsible use through a hermeneutic-phenomenologicallens.
