Abstract

Introduction. The information seeking behavior of Marine Science students is important in broadening understanding of a multidisciplinary field and is prone to triggering knowledge gaps. Anomalous State of Knowledge (ASK) theory is relevant to explain these conditions, because it views information seeking as a response to anomalies in individual knowledge structures. This study aims to identify whether the information seeking behavior of Marine Science students is dynamic, with the formulation of the problem: whether studying topics relevant to marine microbiology is significantly associated with interest in seeking information outside the field. Research Methods. This research method uses survey method, with a simple random sampling method. Data Analysis. Data were analyzed using the Pearson product-moment correlation test using SPSS software. Results. The results showed a significant relationship between engagement in marine microbiology topics and interest in cross-disciplinary information exploration, reflecting an active response to knowledge anomalies. Students not only filled information gaps but also developed broad and adaptive search strategies. Conclusion. This research shows that Marine Science students' information-seeking behavior is dynamic and aligned with the ASK principle, so this approach is important for understanding and developing academic information systems responsive to evolving information needs.

Abstract

Introduction. This study examines the nonverbal communication of circulation librarians at Universitas Pamulang (UNPAM) Library, prompted by user complaints of unfriendly expressions, minimal eye contact, and reluctant body language. The research aims to understand how librarians use nonverbal cues when serving users. Methods. A qualitative case study approach was employed, using observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review with four users and one librarian. Data validity was ensured through triangulation. Analysis involved data reduction, display, and conclusion, interpreting nonverbal elements (gestures, facial expressions, posture) using kinesics theory. Results and Discussion. Librarians used head orientation, hand gestures, facial expressions, and posture to convey attentiveness and professionalism. Eye contact was maintained through head direction, gestures guided users, and body position fostered comfortable interactions. However, high workload occasionally impacted the quality of these nonverbal cues. Conclusion. Nonverbal communication significantly influences user perceptions and comfort during library services. Training in nonverbal communication and ergonomic workspace arrangements are recommended to enhance service quality.

Abstract

Introduction. This study aims to examine the information dissemination process implemented by Museum Subak. Dissemination is carried out to anticipate the low literacy of the community towards the values of Subak culture and trigger a shift in the function of agricultural land into a tourism area that can threaten the sustainability of the Subak system as a local cultural heritage. Research Methods. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach and data collection through direct observation, interviews with selected informants, and analysis of documents related to activities at the Museum Subak. Data Analysis. Data analysis techniques used open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. Results. The results of this study are based on the SECI Model. These findings indicate the need for more adaptive, multilingual, and contextual strategies so that the transformation of Subak cultural knowledge can take place effectively and sustainably. Conclusion. This study found that dissemination activities at the Museum Subak primarily focused on the internalization process, namely the transformation of explicit knowledge into tacit knowledge through direct involvement of participants in learning activities. The research suggests that that social media use shouldbe optimized as a digital-based dissemination tool.
