Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate characteristics of feeding management and utilization of crop residues at the animal husbandry system in Pematang Reba, Indragiri Hulu. Data were obtained through a survey and analyzed descriptively. The results of experiment indicated that animal raising system was mostly carried out in a traditional way (90%), in which animals freely during the day and tigh at night (80%), kept their animals only at night/semi intensive (7.5%) and freely during the day and kept their animal in cage at night (2.5%). The number of farmers who kept their animal in cage (intensive) was lower, i.e 10%. The percentage of farmers who utilized crop residues as feeding source was still low i.e 20%. There are not the farmers (0%) who knew about feeding technology and applied those technologies.

Abstract

The purpose this study was to ktww the influence ofseveral processing and the storage periods offish ration added with tapioca binder on the physical characteristics offish ration. This research used a 3 x 4factorial completely randomized design with 3 replications. The data were analyzed by analysis ofvariance and the significant result would be examined by orthogonal contrast test. Factor A was processing (without treatment, AD); spraying with 5% hot water (AI) and steamingfor 45 minutes (A2), while factor B was storage periods(O, 2, 4, and 6 weeks). The parameters investigated were water activity, water content, particle size, .pellet durability, loose bulk density and compressed bulk density. The results showed that processing without treatment, spraying with 5% hot water and steaming for 45 minutes did not affect the physical characteristics of ration. However, the water content and particle size of the ration were significantly affected by processing treatments (p<O.Ol). The water content was 13.69%, 13.71% and 14.42%, while particle size of the ration processing without treatment, spraying with 5 % and spraying with 5% hot water were 0.659 em, 0.652 em and 0.658 em, repectively. The storage period highly significant influenced (p<O.Ol) physical characteristics of the ration, the value ofwater activity atoweek to 6 weeks storage periods were 0.83, 0.78, 0.76 and 0.76; water content were 14.34%, 14.82%, 13.30% and 13.30%; particle size were 0.663 em, 0.659 em, 0.651 em and 0.651 em; pellet durability were 99.95%, 99.79%, 99.73% and 99.57%; loose bulk density were 0.639 g/em3, 0.543 g/em3, 0.534 g/em3 and 0.50p g/em3; and compressed bulk density were 0.691 g/em3, 0.630 g/em3, 0.718 g/em3 and 0.712 g/em3, respectively. The results indicated that storage period decreased the physical characteristics of ration. In conclusion, the best quality offish ration was ration processed by spraying with 5% hot water and 4 weeks storage.

Abstract

 Goat milk quality is an important aspect to get high quality goat milk for consumer. Hence, the information goat milk quality is still not defined. This study aimed to know goat milk quality in Pekanbaru city. A study was conducted to observe milk goat quality at 2 dairy goat farms (Umban Sari farm and Alam Raya farm). The data then analyzed using t-test for comparing the two farms. Parameters used to determine goat milk quality are total plate count (TPC), protein, fat, acidity degree (pH), alcohol test and spesific density of raw goat milk. Research result indicated that raw milk goat from Alam Raya farm was significantly difference (P<0,05) higher than raw goat milk from Umban Sari. The total plate count of raw goat milk from Alam Raya farm is exceed the standard of SNI 01-3141-1998. Results of protein, fat and pH raw goat milk were appropriate to the minimun standard of INS 01-3141-1998 and Thai Agriculture Standard (TAS) of raw goat milk. On the other hand, result showed in milk spesific gravity that is less than INS 01-3141-1998 and Thai Agriculture Standard (TAS) standard.

Abstract

Salted eggs are a source of animal protein foods suitable for children, adolescents, parents, people in the healing periodand pregnant women. This study aimed to determine the effect of oven temperature on protein content and taste of saltedeggs. This study uses pesisir duck eggs (Indian Runner) fresh 48 hour maximum age of 200 items weighing 65-70 g obtainedfrom a breeder in Anduring Padang, 3000 grams of brick powder, gray rub 2000 grams and 1000 grams of salt. Researchmethod used is the method of experiment with Random Design Group (RAK), which consists of 4 treatments and 5 groups asreplicates. Treatment A (oven temperature 70ºC), B (oven temperature of 80ºC), C (oven temperature of 90ºC) and D (oventemperature of 100ºC). Oven eggs done for 6 hours, then stored for 25 days. Observed variable is based on dry weight proteincontent and taste of salted eggs. The data obtained were statistically analyzed with F test, if influential followed by Duncan'stest. The results showed different effects very significantly (P<0,01) on texture, significantly different (P<0,05) proteinlevels, showing the influence of different flavors but not significant (P>0,05) to the aroma of salted eggs. Based on theresearch results can be concluded that the oven temperature best eggs after 25 days of storage is at a temperature of 90ºC witha 37,00% protein content, taste 2,47 (like), aroma 2,38 (neutral) and texture 2,66 (like).

Abstract

This research was conducted to know the correlation of rumina I degradation between dry matter, crude protein and crude fiber content of urea-ammoniated baggase with urease. Two fistUled of Aceh bulls weight 200 kg and 5.5 years old which were fed twice of day by 25 -30 kg of Brachiaria sp. Determination of nutrient degradation was done by in-situ technique, 5 grams sample urea~ammoniated baggase with urease was placed into nylon bag (Monil T 120, 14 x 8 cm) with 0, 6, 14 24, 48 and 72 hours of incubation.. The result showed that there was possitive correlation and differently significant (r"" 0.995 ; p< 0.01) between dry matter, crude protein and crude fiber degradation of urea-ammoniated baggase with urease. Chemical composition also .affected dry matter, crude protein dan crude fiber degradation of urea-ammoniatedbaggase with urease.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate applied tehnical aspects of farmers keeping beef cattle in Rokan H:i1ir Regency, consists; breed selection. feed giving, management housing, health management and keeping management. This research was done in july '1fX!7 in Bagan Sinembah Village, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province with survey method. Data was collected by using, simple random sampling and descriptive analyze used to know percentage, mean and standard deviation. The result of this study was showed that farmers in Bagan Sinembah Village not good applied tehnical aspects of keeping management beef cattle because they were assumsed., keeping beef cattle just as a job side, a saving and keeping management was done by traditional withekstensifsystem.

Abstract

Research on utilization sugar cane water combined with egg yolk as Bali bull semen extenMr have been implemented. Research was conducted to determine the level ofutilization ofsugar cane water as semen exten~r combined with egg yolk on the quality ofBali bull semen. Variable observed in this study were the percentage ofmotility, the percentage of live count and intact plasma membrane of sperm. Based on the Complete Random Design (RAL) with $ix treatments and three replications. Treatment A = skim milk extender (control), B = 10% sugar cane water extender, C"" 20% sugar cane water extender, D =30% sugar cane water extender, E =40% sugar cane water extender and F = 50% sugar cane water extender. Differences between treatment tested with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Results of this research indicated that treatment 30% and 40% sugar cane water extender that could maintain the quality of the semen longger than the other treatment (96 hours), with the percentage ofsperm motility above 40% and the percentage oflive sperm above 50%. It can be concluded that : (1) a combination ofsugar cane water with the egg yolk could maintain ofsperm motility, sperm Viability and sperm intact pl~ma membrane stored at a temperature of SoC up to 96 hours, (2) sugar cane water could be used as natural extender with the concentration of30% to 40%.

Abstract

This experiment were conducted to know chemical composition consist of dry matter, ash, crude protein, crude fiber,crude lipid and BETN from palm leaves fermented with buffalo feces dan cattle feces. Inoculants were used cattle feces andbuffalo feces with 5% level from dry matter of palm leaves. Fermentation done for 14 days. Method of experiment wascompletely randomized design with 3 treatments and 3 replications. Result showed that fermentation of palm leaves withcattle feces and buffalo feces were increased crude protein 11.39%-12.49% (P>0,05) and decreased crude fiber 22.71%-19.0% (P>0,05)

Abstract

This research a~s to know the income level of integrated farming system on transmigrant family. The research was ~arned ~ut ~t 8 -22 December 1999 in Bukit Tungkul, Tamb.mg Emas and !!,antak Seribu, Pamen~g, Mer~gm,Jambl, ~smg survey methode. The sample was collected using Simple Random Sampling and Purpos~ve Samplmg. ~he vanable of the research are animal scale, holticulture area, farm periode, stay periode in. transmlgrant area, sharmg percentage, family labour and holticulture type. The result indicated that the income ofintegrated farming system are about Rp 4.909.573.34/ year.

Abstract

This research aim to know companies patnership implementation toward broii~r chicken keeper; also to know the income differences at different company scales in Pekanbara city. This research was done during six month, from Juni to November 2003. Result of research of show that in Pekanbaru there are ~ partner pattel;'n which have been recognized in general, that is Ramah Tamah Indah (RTI), Makmur Jaya, Confred; and of Pokphand. Research methodology of this research was case study and u~ing propotiona,lsampli:ng techniqUe towanl 36 broiler chicken keepers as the sample. The sample were devided into three categories, sc~e1< 5.000 chic;ken, sca1ell (5.00010.000) chicken and scale 1lI > 10.000 chicken. The results show the patnership modeISthat could not be reciIized are letter of agreement, land ownership letter of chicken keepers, sapronak of the companies, companies technical assistance, devident calculating system and devident taking after harvest, minimal production 5.000 chicken, the continuity of sapronak delivery, sapronak prices, harvest schedule and the price of selling ..
