Abstract

A study about the use ofvitamin E and BHT in frozen ram senten extender has done. Tris citrate, lactose and skim milk as extenders and vitamin Eand BHT as antioxidants with ceitain doses were used in this experiment. The quality ofsemen such as motility, live sperm, intact plasma membrane and intact acrosom membrane were evaluated. The objectives ofthis study are to determine the best extender and antioxidant with certain doses in cryopreservation of ram semen. Based on" this study it was found that the skim milk extender (50.0 and 62.5% respectively) showed the best quality ofsperm motility and live sperm after thawing. The mean percentage ofintact plasma membrane and intact acrosome on skim milk extender also showed the best result(58.3 and 61.0% respectiDely). The supplement of0.2 g vitamin Eshowed higher rate ofsperm motility, live sperm, intact plasma membrane and intact acrosome after thawing than the other treatments (51.9, 65.4, 61.3 and 64.2 percent respectiDely). It can be concluded that the supplementation of 0.2 g vitamin E using the skim milk extender gave the best quality in ram semencryapreservation.

Abstract

Nutrition contents of milk was needed for body growth. Milk fat is the main energy source and composed of triglycerides. Essential fatty acids such as EPA and DHA are very important to maintain our health. Therefore, it is commonly fortified into a product in industry. The objective of the research was to study the influence of different heating temperature, fermentation, and churning process to fatty acids content of goat milk produced by goat Etawah with rations containing DCM. The research was divided into two experiments, i.e. 1) influence of giving DCM with different levels to fresh goat milk quality 2) influence of Omega-3-enriched goat milk processing to quality and fatty acids content. The factorial design and complete randomize design were then used in the present study. The treatments were different concentration of DCM in feed (0, 10, 20, 30 g of DCM/kg concentrate) and different of milking time (6 a.m and 6 p.m). Each treatment used three goats. The milk contained highest EPA and DHA resulted from formulation given was heated at different temperatures (LTLT, HTST, and Sterilization). Changes of milk compositions and fatty acid contents were observed. Research on experiment I showed that the production of milk and the quality of fresh goat milk were affected by DCM treatment except protein and acidity degree of milk. Milk from goat milked in the morning contained less fat than in the afternoon. While, milking in the morning increased milk density and milk production. Based on the results of fatty acid content analysis the treatment K-3 (30 g of DCM/kg concentrate) was chosen to do an experiment II. The experiment II results showed that heating treatment did not affect milk quality, except protein and pH. However, fatty acid content of milk was affected by heating treatment. Based on experiment I observation, the best DCM concentration on dairy goats was K-3 and experiment II using HTST treatment on goat milk processing which was able to preserve milk fatty acid contents was recommended based on this research

Abstract

The aim of this research was to improve the nutrient of sago waste through fermentation with various microbescombination, inoculum dosage and fermentation length. The experiment used complete randomized design (CRD) with3x3x3 factorial and twice repetition. The first factor was three kind of microbe (A): (1) Neurospora sp (2) Pennicillium sp,(3) Trichoderma harzianum. The second factor was inoculume dosage (B): (1) 3%, (2) 6%, and (3) 9%. The third factorwas fermentation length (C): (1) 4 day, (2) 7day and (3) 10 day. The parameters were dry matter, crude protein and crudefiber. The results of study showed that there were no significant (P>0.05) interaction between factor A, B and C, than factorA and B, factor A and C, factor B and C, to dry matter, crude protein and crude fiber of fermented sagos waste. But everyfactor A, B and C were significantly (P<0.01) affected to dry matter, crude protein and crude fiber of fermented sagos waste. The conclusion was sagos waste which was fermented by Pennicillium sp, inoculume dosage 9% andfermentation length 10 day showed a better content. This condition can be seen in dry matter 64.21%, crudeprotein 14.08%, and crude fiber 13.67%

Abstract

Microbial growth and various fermentation processes in the rumen require an adequate supply of minerals. Anexperiment was conducted to determine niicrobial protein synthesis in the rumen of goat. Microbial protein synthesis in the rumen was estimated by the excretion of purine derivatives concentration (allantoin, uric acid, xanthine and hypoxanthine) in the urine of 20 goats of local breed. They were randomly allocated into 4 treatments in a Randomized Block Design with 5 replication. Treatments were : A =forages (natural grasses, gliricidia and leucaena) and concentrate (rice brand, com grain and coconut meal); B .. ration A+Ca+P ; C = Ration A+Ca+P+Mg ; D = ration A+Ca+P+S. Ration between forages and concentrates is 60 ; 40 with TDN 53.94% and CP 13.87%. The result showed that there were no effect of mineral Ca, P, Mg and S supplementation on the microbial protein synthesis. The mineral supplementation significantly (P<O.Ol) increased the average daily gain of the goat. Inconclusion, supplementation of Ca, P and S was the best among the treatments.
