Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of learning with an ethnomathematical approach assisted by Adobe Animate to improve understanding of mathematics concepts for junior high school students. The ethnomathematical object used in this study is the Arjuna temple in Banjarnegara. This research is quasi-experimental (quasi-experimental). The population in this study was class IX  students of SMP Negeri 1 Wanadadi in the academic year 2022/2023, with the research sample being taken at random by two classes, namely class IX A as the experimental class and class IX C as the control class. The data was obtained through tests after being processed and tested with a one-sided test, a learning completeness test, and a simple linear regression test. The results of data analysis show that: (1) there are differences in concept understanding between students who use the ethnomathematical approach assisted by Adobe Animate and conventional learning; (2) the ability to understand concepts of students who use the ethnomathematical approach assisted by Adobe Animate achieves mastery learning; (3) there is an effect of activeness on the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who use learning with an ethnomathematical approach assisted by Adobe Animate.

Abstract

The motifs on the typical Troso Jepara ikat weaving have unique shapes and patterns and have references in their design. Besides being designed according to beauty, the motifs on the Troso ikat also have their own philosophical and mathematical values. This research was conducted with the aim of describing the mathematical ideas contained in the troso ikat motif as well as the philosophical ones contained in the culture. The method in this study uses a qualitative research method with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques in the study were carried out directly in the field to find information by observation, interviews, and documentation. The informant in this study was Mr. Muhammad Habib as the owner of the Troso “Aida” Ikat Weaving business in Jepara, Central Java. The instruments in this study were observation sheets, interview sheets, and field documentation. Data analysis techniques used in this study are domain analysis and taxonomic analysis. The results of this study indicate that there are mathematical ideas with nuances of two-dimensional geometry in several Jepara Troso Ikat Weaving motifs including gill motifs, re-woven motifs, baron motifs feather motifs, and lurik motifs. The geometric concept in the troso ikat motif is in the form of a flat wake concept including rectangles, rhombuses, isosceles triangles, triangles, circles, hexagons, and parallelograms

Abstract

Learning independence is one of the essential things in the learning process. The demand for independent learning is enormous in the learning process at school, especially in mathematics. If responded to appropriately, these demands can help future students' psychological development. The purpose of this study was to measure the content validity of the mathematics learning independence scale to obtain instruments that are right on target. This study uses a type of quantitative research. A sample of one hundred and twenty-six students was obtained from public elementary schools in Tlogowungu District, Pati Regency. Data analysis uses the equation CVR (Content Validity Ratio), CVI (Content Validity Index), and CFA (Confirmatory Factor Analysis). The results showed that 26 of 30 items were declared valid and had a CVI value of 0.911. In contrast, for CFA, the relationship for the three indicators of learning independence was relatively high,> 0.5. This indicates that the three indicators are related; they can both measure the learning independence variable. So, the three indicators can measure learning independence variables well.

Abstract

Mathematical understanding is an important basis for thinking whensolving mathematical problems. Mathematical understanding is also the basis ofthinking in learning mathematics to find out the results of mastery learning. Thiscan be seen in the results of the test scores of students with mathematicalunderstanding abilities that are still below the level of mastery learning, thereforethe importance of mathematical understanding abilities is increased by using theRealistic Mathematical Education (RME) learning approach. This study uses mixedmethods where the research strategy combines qualitative and quantitative methodssimultaneously. The results of the research conducted the average score was stilllow, namely 62.5% below the average and 37.5% above the average, but afterapplying the RME learning method, it showed that the average student scoreincreased to 21.9 % below average and 78.1% above average. Based on the resultsbefore and after the test, students' mathematical understanding ability increased by40.6% after applying the RME teaching method, thus proving that RME had apositive effect on increasing mathematical understanding.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain a profile of the mathematicalunderstanding ability of class XI students on story problems in ArithmeticSequences and Series material. Qualitative research methods were used in thisstudy, with descriptive analysis techniques. The research was conducted at SMAN1 Rogojampi with 38 class XI students as the research subjects. The researchinstrument is a test to analyze comprehension skills and interview guidelines.Several stages of research are planning, implementation and observation. Then, explore students' mathematical understanding abilities by using 4 test items. Afterthat interviews were conducted with students. The results in this study stated thatthe level of students' mathematical understanding ability was classified as in themedium category. It could be seen that overall students were still lacking inunderstanding the concept of the material so they could not use the formulacorrectly when answering the questions given.
