Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan hakikat reformasi yang digagas oleh Jamaluddin al-Afghani. Masalah utama yang dikaji adalah bagaimana konsep pembaruan Jamaluddin al-Afgani? Kajian ini merupakan studi literatur atau kajian pustaka yang berarti data bersumber dari berbagai literature buku yang terkait. Falsafah reformasi pembaharuan Islam berarti pemikiran membangun kembali seluruh sendi-sendi kehidupan umat Islam dalam bentuk yang baru. Gagasan falsafah reformasi pembaharuan yang dilontarkan Jamaluddin al-Afghani dilatarbelakangi rusaknya kehidupan umat Islam akibat penjajahan bangsa asing serta usaha-usaha pembodohan dan kemunduran umat Islam. Jamaluddin al-Afghani melakukan kampanye reformasi pembaharuan terhadap masyarakat Islam mencakup berbagai bidang; agama, politik, pendidikan, dan ekonomi.

There is no doubt that writing is among the important skills ones have to possess in order to be able express themselves. People are able to communicate their ideas and opinion through the medium of writing as an alternative to oral medium. The challenge is that several key issues prohibit people, including students from writing effectively. This is particularly the case with academic writing. This article outlines several key impediments students encounter in academic writing. This analysis is undertaken on the basis of review of the existing literature and the writer’s own reflections of teaching academic writing skills for students in higher education context. Among the key inhibitors faced by students in academic writing are lack of motivation, lack of ideas to write, limited opportunities to practice academic writing, and lack of support, recognition and appreciation from authorities.

This writing tries to explore the deep meaning of rabb in al-Quran. The result of research found out that term of rabb in al-Quran has three meanings, namely the all creating, the all possesing, and the all arranging. It means that the term rabb refers to the substantial attribute of God. The human being’s acknowledgment of the God’s existence brings about the God consciousness that there is no God to worship but Allah. This witness leads human being to be rabbanian namely people who are strictly commited to save and keep what has become his responsibility, implement the universal values based on moral force and religious values.

Palestina is a continously conflicted region. Thousand years before christus, Jews has already established the Judah King and Israel. These regions were occupied interchangably by some nations such as Assyiria, Babylonia, Misria, Persia, Macedonia, Romawi and Byzantium. Arabian then took Palestina form caisar of Byzantium (634 M) and in 1516 M., Palestina was under Turki Usmani kingdom. There are amount of linguistic terms utilized in al-Quran. One of the is kana and its derivation. This world has various fuction and meaning based on where it is placed or positioned. Kana can be used as the completion of ayat that actually has no meaning, but it determines the pattern of ayat, and sometime it has substantial meaning that determines the position of time where ayat was revealed down or used in textual or contextual meaning.

This writing explored how was the thought of Abdul Rauf al-Singkili who lived in the 17th century. One of his intellectual position was his voiceless on the women leadership. As it was noted that Aceh Sultanate had been ever ruled by four Sultanah (women ruler), respectively till the end of 17th century, and Abdul Rauf was trusted as qadhi at the time. Abdul Rauf was considered controversial in the field of theology and mystics. He wanted to balance between syariah and hakikat (mystical philosophy). He was expert in hadis, tafsir and tasauf, thus brought him to be well known as the 17th Muslim intellectual.

Â’isyah ‘Abd. Al-Rahmân Bint al-Syâthi' (l.1913 M) was an Egyptian modern Moslem thinker. She was a professor in langustics and Arabic literature as well as quranic studies. One of her works is al-Tafsîr al-Bayâniy li al-Qur'ân al-Karîm”. This work was done as a response to the real condition of tafsir which merely focused on traditional interpretation. Bint al-Syati tried to interprete al-Quran with contextual and holisitic approach. This can be seen from the explanation of mufradat, tartîb, linguistics, as well as zawûq al-lugah. She then explained munasabat (relation) and the content of al-Quran. Shortly, method applied by Bint Syati is a modern interpretation.

Bahasa Arab sebagai bahasa pergaulan di kalangan orang Arab mengalami perkembangan pesat dan menempati posisi yang tinggi di antara bahasa-bahasa di dunia karena di samping sebagai bahasa komunikasi, ia juga sebagai bahasa ilmiyah, budaya, dan bahasa agama, yang akhirnya menjadi bahasa internasional. Di antara keistimewaan bahasa Arab yang menguatkan beragam fungsinya adalah ia digunakan sebagai bahasa al-Qur’an dan hadis, kosa kata yang kaya dan dinamis, dan penyebarannya yang mendunia. Pada abad pertengahan, karya-karya intelektual Muslim yang ditulis dalam bahasa Arab merupakan rujukan utama bagi kemajuan peradaban Eropa, dan pada masa modern, bahasa Arab merupakan salah satu faktor perkembangan dunia pers dan akademik yang membuatnya diajarkan di lembaga-lembaga bahasa dan pergurun tinggi di berbagai belahan dunia. Dengan demikian, urgensi bahasa Arab bukan saja untuk memahami ajaran agama Islam secara mendalam tapi juga untuk penyebaran peradaban Islam lebih mendunia

Matudiridyah was known as a moderat school that aims to elaborate between the Mu’tazilah and Asyariyah School. It was established by its founder Abu Manshur al-Maturidi. Amongst the crucial Islamic thought, Abu Manshur stood out to introduce a new paradigm of Islamic theology. He aimed at bridging the two contradicting Islamic theology school between Asyari and Mu’tazilah. However, his effort was not running well due to Maturidiyah School came to frictions namely Samarkand and Bukhari. The Samarkand school tended to be in line with Mu’tazilah thought, while the later tended to support Asyariyah theology.

Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pentingnya grafologi dalam karya sastra khususnya dalam bentuk tulisan. Grafologi mengacu pada pengkodean makna dalam simbol-simbol visual. Dengan kata lain, grafologi membahas mengenai penggunaan bahasa melalui simbol-simbol tertulis termasuk makna konotasi dari suatu kata. Puisi sebagai salah satu bentuk karya sastra, khususnya puisi modern, telah memanfaatkan efek graphological sebagai alat yang ideal untuk membawa pembaca ke dalam situasi nyata, pesan penyair, dan pengalaman individu manusia. Dengan grafologi penikmat puisi dapat lebih memahami makna puisi dan maksud penyair dengan melihat desain visual dari pusi tersebut, baik itu format penulisannya maupun simbol-simbol yang digunakan oleh penulis.
