Abstract

The objective of the research is to describe whether there is a difference of students' understanding of mathematical concepts using cooperative learning model of TAI type and Problem Based Learning (PBL) and show the cause of the difference. This study included experimental research with randomized control group design pretest posttest design. The result of the research shows that (1) the understanding of students 'mathematical concepts with cooperative learning model of TAI type is not significantly different from the understanding of students' mathematics concept with PBL learning model; (2) the understanding of students 'mathematical concept with cooperative learning model of TAI type is not significantly different from the students' with conventional learning model, (3) understanding of student math concept with PBL learning model is significantly different with understanding of student math concept with conventional learning model. So that there is effect of cooperative learning model of TAI type and problem based learning (PBL) to the students' math concept.

Abstract

The aims of this research were to increase the activity and study result of student by implementation of Cooperative Learning Tipe Think Pair Share. The method of the research was Classroom Action Reserach. The instrument of data collection used observation sheet, formatif test sheet, and documentation. Technique of data analysis used qualitative and quantitative analysis. The result showed that the student activity in cycle I 52,91% (Moderately Active),in cycle II 63,24% (Active) to be 77,49% (Active) in cycle III. Percentage of the study completeness in cycle I 57,44%, in cycle II 70,22% to be 85,11% in cycle III.

Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes through the implementation of cooperative learning method of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) type. This type of research is CAR (Classroom Action Research). The subject of the recipients of the action is the students of grade XII IPA 4 Senior High School 1 Punggur, amounting to 33 students. Data collection methods used are observation method, test method, documentation method and field note. Data analysis technique used are data analysis process, data presentation, and data verification. To guarantee the validity of data used triangulation technique. The result of the research shows the improvement of mathematics learning outcomes of students on Logarithmic subject. This can be seen from: 1) Student's completeness before the action is 14 students (39,13%) and at the end of action reaches 19 students (82,61%), 2) The courage of student to ask unclear material before action that is 5 Students (21.74%) and at the end of the action reached 15 students (65.22%), 3) Students who responses to other students' opinions before action is2 students (8.69%) and at the end of the action reaches 11 students (47 , 82%), 4) Enthusiastic students to do the problem before the action that is 8 students (34,78%) and at the end of action reaches 17 students (73,91%). The conclusion of this research is the implementation of cooperative learning method type Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) can improve student learning achievement of mathematics on Logarithmic subject.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the ability of adaptive reasoning of junior high school students in Pontianak, which is divided into categories of secondary, middle and lower schools. This research is descriptive research with research form is survey. Sampling in this research using stratified cluster random sampling technique. Of the 23 existing schools thereafter were randomly assigned to each school to represent high school, middle class, and low school. Categorization of schools based on the value of students National Exam. Based on the result of research analysis, it is found that the average of adaptive reasoning ability of junior high school students in Pontianak is 42,96% with enough category. While the average adaptive reasoning ability of high, medium and low students is 48.82% (enough), 41.06% (enough), and 39% (enough), respectively.

Abstract

Discovery learning is a learning that involves students in the process of mental activity through a brainstorm, to discuss, and try it yourself, so that children can learn to be independent. Resulting in the discovery-based learning problem solving is to let children discover things on their own and group investigation that emphasizes problem solving based on a debriefing activities and student participation. The classes drawn into the sample, the class as a class given control based discovery learning and problem solving one class another group investigation given learning-based problem solving. Data analysis techniques in this study using Ttes. From the results of this study concluded that: (a) In the first experiment class that implements learning model-based problem solving group investigation obtained average value of learning outcomes at 73.10 while the experimental class II implementing discovery-based learning problem solving obtained average value postest average of 66.55. (b) There are significant differences between the results of student learning in the class that implements the discovery-based learning and problem solving class that implements the learning model based problem solving group investigation. Student results in learning problem solving based group investigation better on the class that implements the model-based discovery learning problem solving.

Abstract

This research and development aimed to develop module with an open ended approach to facilitate the achievement of mathematical literacy. This study was conducted only until the  field trial and the revision of product. The module was validated by experts with attention to aspects: matter, appearance, and practicality. Having been declared valid by experts, the test readability by the students was done. Based on the steps, it was obtained (1) the use of the module with an open ended approach in Linier Programmingwas expected by the students, (2) the module characteristics were in accordance with the curriculum and designed in accordance with the open-ended approach, (3) the experts responses to the module were appropriate in terms of aspects of matter, appearance, and practicality and (4) the students responses were good viewed by readability.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematika  siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika materi pokok kubus dan balok dalam pokok bahasan luas permukaan dan volume melalui model pembelajaran kooperatif. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIIIE SMP N 2 Sedayu semester genap tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus, siklus pertama dilaksanakan dalam 3 pertemuan dan siklus kedua dilaksanakan dalam 3 pertemuan. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, tes kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa,  wawancara dan catatan lapangan. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu, analisis observasi siswa dan analisis tes kemampuan komunikasi matematika dengan analisis persentase. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa (1) pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa dengan persentase hasil observasi kegiatan siswa sebesar 68,6% pada siklus I menjadi 86,9% pada siklus II. (2) pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa dari nilai rata-rata kelas awal sebelum tindakan  sebesar 41,63 dengan ketuntasan prasiklus sebesar 9% (kualifikasi kurang) menjadi nilai rata-rata kelas sebesar 79,81 dengan ketuntasan kelas sebesar 81,8% (kualifikasi tinggi) pada siklus I, nilai rata-rata kelas sebesar 84,9 dengan ketuntasan kelas sebesar 90,9% (kualifikasi tinggi) pada siklus II.

Abstract

This research aimed at finding out (1)the improvement of the ability in creative mathematical thinking, (2) the improvement of the ability in reasoning and creative mathematical thinking for high, medium, and low level students. and (3) the interactions between students’ preliminary ability and the learning approach in improving the reasoning and creative mathematical thinking. By involving PBL in learning requires students to think creatively to generate new ideas in learning. The design of the research was quasi experiment. The sample were the student of VIII.9 at SMPN 31 Padang and the students of VIII.1 at SMPN 25Padang.The result of the research showed that (1) the improvement of students’ ability in creative mathematical thinking for those who were taught by using PBL was better than those who were taught by using the conventional learning, (2) the improvement of students’ ability in creative mathematical thinking for the high, medium, and low level students who were taught by using PBL was better than those who were taught by using the conventional learning, and (3) there was interaction between the preliminary ability and the learning approach to students’ creative mathematical thinking ability.

Abstract

The aims of the research is to know mistakes and cause of mistakes mengetahui were done by students in in troubleshoot mathematics story problem. The research was a descrptive  qualitative. The subjects of the research was students of class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Karang Anyar. The result of the research are: 1) the mistakes made by students are: student incorrecting to change information that is given into mathematics expression, students can't determine formula, the students incorrectly concept, errors in interpreting the solution , do not make conclusions , errors in calculation;  2) cause students make mistakes  are : do not pay attention to a matter of intent , forget the formula , less familiar to a material , less given the questions varied, in a hurry, and less conscientious in performing the calculations

Abstract

This research aims to test the effectiveness of Learning Cycle 7E”, the influence of  learning style against the students ability of critical thinking, the best learning style of the student is critical thinking ability and description of students’ mathematical critical thinking ability in each learning style. The methods used in this research was Mixed Design Model; the Sequential Explanatory Method. The subject of this research is grade VIII. The research instrument used is the TKBKM, learning style questionnaire and interview guidelines. The effectiveness of Learning Cycle 7E it can be seen from the aspect of completeness, obtained the result that the proportion of students who got a value KBKM greater than or equal with KKM=70 have exceeded 75%, while the average difference test of experiments class and control class were t-count=6,497>t-tabel=1,671. This shows that the average students’ mathematical critical thinking ability taught by Learning Cycle 7E more than average than students’ mathematical critical thinking ability taught with conventional learning. Learning styles affect the students’ mathematical critical thinking ability, this is retrieved based on the test results of the Kruskal Wallis with Asym value sig is 0.046<0.05. The visual learning style has the best ability of mathematical critical thinking. Each learning style has advantages and disadvantages on aspects of ability of critical thinking mathematically, thus causing each learning style has differences the ability of critical thinking mathematically too.
