Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of applying the contextual approach to improving students' mathematical problem-solving competencies. Quasi-experimental research used with the design of non-equivalent control group. The population in this study were entire students of class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Lembang. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Experimental learning class with the contextual approach and control class with the scientific approach. The instrument used is a problem-solving test. Data analysis was done using t-test. The results showed that the improvement of students' mathematical problem-solving skills in the experimental class was better than the students in the control class.

Abstract

The aims of this research were to increase the activities and the result of study by implementation of cooperative learning model type jigsaw with picture media. The method of the research was Classroom Action Reserach. The instrument of data collection used observation sheet and test. Technique of data analysis used qualitative and quantitative analysis. The result showed that the student activity in cycle I 62,58% (active) and cycle II 81,50%(activeenough). The result study of the cognitivie in cycle I 71,31%(good) and cycle II80,42%(good).

Abstract

Learning integral calculus should be done with interesting and fun process, because this course is basic materials and a prerequisite for other subjects as well as the provision of teaching materials for high school students. However, based on the documentation that have done in one of the private universities in Lamongan in the last two years shows that the average score of student results in mathematics education and mathematics subjects integral calculus has only reached 42%. This suggests that the results of student learning especially integral calculus courses still low. One effort that can be done is to develop teaching materials based animation. Media animation that comes with the animations, audio, and video in teaching and learning can grow the interest of learners. Based on these descriptions, this study aims to develop teaching materials integral calculus-based animation. This study uses a study design development consists of four stages, namely: (1) definition, (2) design, (3) development, and (4) dissemination. The end product of this research is animation-based teaching media for the course of integral calculus.

Abstract

Mathematics anxiety has been recognized as a feeling depressed and anxious when it deals with the manipulation of numbers and mathematical problem solving in the real life and the academic situations. The anxiety tend to occur in someone with low mathematical ability. That is, individuals with low mathematics anxiety more comfort to solve the problem than someone who has high anxiety. It is interesting to examine, because it will be proved whether there is a relationship between learning achievement and mathematics anxiety

Abstract

The aims of this research are to determine the effectiveness of cooperative learning by using modules. The type of this research is quantitative research by descriptive method. This research consisting of experiment class and control class. Students in the experimental class are taught by applying cooperative learning using modules while students in control classes are taught by applying conventional learning without modules. The results suggest that cooperative learning using modules is effective. This can be seen from the average percentage of the students  minimum achievement in the control class is 54.92% while in the experimental class is 73.17%. Student activity in the experimental class is excellent with an average score is 4.05 whereas in the control class is good with an average score is 3.7. The ability of teachers in managing learning in the experimental class is very good with an average score is 4.66 whereas in the control class is good with the average score is 4. Thus cooperative learning using the module is effective.

Abstract

Based on preliminary observations obtained activity data and student learning outcomes are still low, especially subjects of mathematics, as many as 6 students or 28.23% of the students completed and 15 students or 71.78% of students have not been completed. Based on the above facts applied learning model of Jigsaw Cooperative type that aims to improve the activity and student learning outcomes in mathematics in comparison material and scale. The study involved 21 students of class VII SMPN 2 BUMIRATU Nuban in semester 1 Academic Year 2014 / 2015.This research used a Class Action Research (PTK) by using two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data collected by the observation sheet and test student learning outcomes in each cycle. From the analysis of the data shows that the use of cooperative learning model Jigsaw Type in the learning process of Mathematics students can increase  the activity and student learning outcomes. It can be seen from the average percentage of the activity of students in the first cycle was 55.5 and increased in the second cycle to 70.5. While the average value of student learning outcomes in the first cycle was 58.75 and increased in the second cycle into 72.50

Abstract

This paper consists of Research and Development that focus on making  and building  some programs for mathematics education especially discusses invers of matrix. Invers of matrix in Senior High School was introduced in 3rd class and just explained matrix 2x2 and 3x3 . However, it is not an easy matter/thing to determine invers of matrix  because there are some steps that make some students confused and found some difficulties to do it. Therefore, the researcher offers the following steps: First find determinant of matrix, second matrix cofactor and then transpose matrix cofactor become adjoin of matrix, finally multiply adjoin of matrix with determinant. From those steps, sometimes students miss it, so in this paper we will discuss the development of education software (prototype) to compute and determine invers of some matrix. Research and development methodology is applied in this research. Abstract

The aim of this research is to improvestudent’s mathematics achievment in aljabar by using TGT method. The research was conducted on SMP N 3 Batanghari. This action research was executed in two cycles, each consisted of one action which was applied in 3-4 meeting with 2 x 35 minutes long duration.The analyzed resultof cycle 1 and 2 data observation was: the activity was clearly improved at second cycle by students actively answeres the problem that proposed by the teacher. By the observation data, it clearly showes that implementation of TGT on aljabar competence gave enough significant contribution toward students learning achievment. The result of average data observation was 65,43 with 13 unsuccessful students, with standard classical 66,67%. On the second cycle, the average score was 69,43 while the number of students who success 70% with 9 students who field. Although the result was not significant, it’s enough to prove that there is student’s learning achievement. The 3,33% improvement still make the researcher smile because the aljabar material is more difficult than other. Beside that problem, the average score of the class which reached 69,35 was difficult to be fulfilled, but by using TGT method, the score can be reached.Keywords: TGT Method, Aljabar, dan Achievment

Abstract

Development of learning tools is a series of processes or activities undertaken to produce a learning device based on existing theories . The purpose of this research is to produce learning tool of NHT model with systematic problem solving strategy , product that produced in the form of Learning Implementation Plan (RPP) and Student Working Sheet (Module ) on Building Material of Flat Space Room that meet valid , effective , and practicalfor junior high school students in Pringsewu . This development research adopted the ADDIE model developed by Dick and Carey and quantitative research methods . The ADDIE model has four stages including analysis , design , development , Implementation , and Evaluation .

Abstract

The aim of this research to analyze the essence of learning the strategy of Wankat-Oreovocz problem solving as alternative the problem solution. The research design which is used is a non-equivalent control group design by using technique of Purposive Sampling. The Research Subject is all eight grade students of Sukahaji Junior High School with the research sample is VIIIG grade students. The research instrument used in the form is prior mathematical knowledge test (PAM), mathematical literacy test of level 5. Result of the research indicates that: 1) There is the difference of mathematical literacy improvement of level 5 at student who is getting The Strategy of Wankat-Oreovocz Problem Solving (WO) evaluated from the PAM student category (high and low)
