Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) Menjelaskan bentuk kesalahan berbahasa Indonesia pada penulisan ragam bahasa spanduk dan papan nama (media luar ruang), (2) menganalisis kesalahan penggunaan unsur asing, dan (3) mengetahui peran penting mahasiswa jurusan bahasa Indonesia menghadapi fenomena kesalah-kesalahan tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskripstif kualitatif dengan sampel tulisan pada spanduk dan papan nama di daerah Geger Kalong, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah teknik purposif sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah rekam, simak, dan catat. Simpulan penelitian ini sebagai berikut. Pertama, unsur kebahasaan yang sering terjadi pada penulisan spanduk dan papan nama di lokasi penelitian adalah kesalahan aspek tanda baca, penggunaan huruf kapital, penulisan kata depan di, penggunaan kata pukul dan jam, dan singkatan. Kedua, jenis kesalahan pemakaian istilah asing didominasi dengan pengunaan bahasa Inggris dan Jawa. Kedua tersebut sering digunakan secara bersamaan dalam penulisan spanduk dan papan nama. Ketiga, penelitian ini bisa dijadikan sebagai titik tolak bagi mahasiswa jurusan bahasa Indonesia untuk mengambil perannya dalam permasalahan-permasalahan yang terjadi di lingkungan sekitar. Khususnya pada penggunaan bahasa asing yang lama-kelamaan akan menjadikan bahasa Indonesia tergerus dan tidak dilestarikan lagi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas bentuk soal sumatif keterampilan menyimak BIPA 4 di Balai Bahasa UPI dan kesesuaian soal dengan indikator kelulusan pada SKL BIPA 4 menurut Permendikbud No 27 Tahun 2017. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk soal berupa UAP (Ujian Akhir Program) dengan jenis  soal objektif berupa soal pilihan ganda berjumlah 20 soal yang terbagi menjadi sesi A dan sesi B. Keduanya telah sesuai dengan indikator lulusan pada SKL BIPA 4 menurut Permendikbud No 27 Tahun 2017 yakni pada elemen kompetensi 2.1. (Mampu memahami diskusi/pidato/ceramah dengan alur argumen yang kompleks dengan topik yang sudah dikenal) dan 2.2. (Mampu menyimpulkan informasi dari berita yang berasal dari media elektronik). Sedangkan untuk elemen kompetensi 2.3. (Mampu memahami film Indonesia berdurasi pendek yang beralur sederhana) tidak muncul baik di sesi A maupun sesi B, karena topik yang diangkat adalah seputar musik favorit dan lowongan pekerjaan.

Abstract

Bahasa merupakan sistem teratur berupa lambang-lambang bunyi yang digunakan untuk mengekspresikan perasaan dan pikiran yang di pergunakan oleh para anggota suatu masyarkat untuk berkerja sama , berinteraksi, dan untuk berkomunikasi dengan manusia lain baik melalui gerakan yaitu gerak isyarat, ucapan yaitu ucapan sehari-hari. Filsafat bahasa adalah bahasa sebagai objek material filsafat, sehingga filsafat bahasa membahas hakikat bahasa itu sendiri. Tujuan artikel ini dibuat adalah untuk menjelaskan tentang hakikat bahasa dan filosofi bahasa yang di ambil dari beberapa pendapat para ahli untuk lebih menjelaskan tentang materi tersebut.

Abstract

Philosophy is a science that relates scientific thinking or can be defined as the science of thinking. The term linguistics is often expressed with various terms or names. Some are stated with linguistics, linguistic introduction, general linguistics, or general linguistic knowledge. However, with different terms, the substance of the study is the same, namely language. Linguistics is the science of language, the science that examines, analyzes or studies language in general, which includes regional languages, Indonesian languages, or foreign languages. Language as the object of linguistic study is an arbitrary system of sound symbols used by members of social groups to cooperate, communicate, and identify themselves. This article describes the role of philosophy and language. This happened before language was born. Linguistics was studied by philosophers. Philosophy, which has the highest position in the linguistic layer, is the basis and direction for the development of linguistics. The data in this article were obtained through scientific journals, research articles, and relevant books on the elements of Linguistic development in the Philosophy of Science. The results of the search and review of the literature show that the role of Philosophy in the development of Linguistics is very meaningful.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the challenges and strategies in learning literature for BIPA students. The dynamics of BIPA learning always encourage teachers to be adaptive in dealing with problems and problems in learning. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method which aims to identify challenges and strategies for teaching Indonesian literature for BIPA students. The research data came from literature studies and the results of observations and interviews with BIPA teachers at the UPI and UNY language centers. Interviews were conducted with an interview instrument that had been adapted to the focus of the researcher's study. The results of this study are presented descriptively. Based on the results of this study, challenges in teaching literature for BIPA students are students' enthusiasm or interest in literature, selecting literary material according to students' needs, introduction to the culture contained in literary works, explaining the meaning of sentences using figures of speech or idioms, using literary language that is different from communicative language, understanding connotative meaning in literature. Based on these challenges, there are several strategies that can be applied to deal with them, namely, using appropriate methods such as discussion methods, direct methods, grammar translation methods, repetitive methods, discovery learning methods, scientific learning approaches, Problem Based Learning and sociodrama. Besides that, it is also necessary to use media to help students understand such as videos, pictures and puzzles. The use of comparative literature, transformation of literary works, analysis of student needs are also strategies that can be used as an alternative in studying literature for BIPA students.

Abstract

This qualitative case study analyzes the phenomenon of misinterpretation of 14 keywords (including "apa," "absensi," and "emotion") in Indonesian. The goal was to identify and analyze the linguistic mechanisms and social factors that cause deviations from the standard definition (KBBI). The results indicate that misinterpretation is a systematic process driven by digital habits and cognitive simplification. Two main mechanisms of meaning destruction were identified: Reverse Antonyms (Acuh, Absensi) and Emotional Specialization (Emosi, Anarkis). This analysis demonstrates Lexical Duality—a tension between formal and social language—where the frequency of informal use overrides the authority of the KBBI. The implication is Semantic Erosion of Accuracy, which complicates critical language teaching and distorts public understanding of policy issues (e.g., "Subsi" is equated with "Discount"). A limitation of this study is the small sample size (14 words), so further studies using mixed methods to quantitatively measure the frequency of misinterpretation are recommended.

Abstract

Language learning at the junior high school level emphasizes communication skills, both oral and written. One component of Indonesian language learning is writing advertisements, which remains challenging for students due to limited writing skills, inadequate teaching strategies, and low comprehension. This classroom action research aimed to improve students’ ability to write advertisements using caricature image media through the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) method among 26 students of class VIII D at SMP Negeri 3 Tabanan in the 2023/2024 academic year. Data were collected through observation and tests. The results showed an increase in students’ average scores from 69.61 (pre-cycle) to 76.15 (cycle I) and 83.00 (cycle II), with all students achieving mastery (100%). These findings indicate that applying the PjBL method effectively enhances students’ advertisement writing skills.

Abstract

Seblak, a typical Sundanese snack made from wet crackers with a spicy taste, has now become part of popular culture favored by Generation Z. Although many previous studies have examined seblak from culinary, economic, and product promotion perspectives, studies that highlight the social meaning, cultural identity, and gender dimensions in seblak consumption are relatively limited. This study aims to explore the meaning of seblak consumption among Generation Z using Alfred Schutz's phenomenological approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with eight informants in Bandung City who were selected purposively. The results show that seblak is not only interpreted as spicy and inexpensive food, but also as comfort food that functions as a stress reliever, a means of strengthening social interaction, and a symbol of Sundanese cultural identity. Furthermore, a gender dimension also emerged, where seblak consumption by men is often associated with shifts in masculinity. This research contributes to the enrichment of cultural communication studies and food studies, particularly regarding how Generation Z constructs meanings about traditional foods in the era of social media.

Abstract

This research is about the film "Who Am I," which intends to explore the types of signs expressed and assess the meaning of the three main sign elements: icons, indexes, and symbols shown in the film. This study uses descriptive qualitative research using the semiotic theory proposed by Peirce as the theoretical basis. The research sample was collected from the film "Who Am I," using record-keeping as the primary search instrument. The findings revealed that the researcher consciously chose several signs: icons, indexes, and symbols. The three types of signs identified in the film were five icons, five indexes, and five symbols. This analysis shows that the meaning of the three sign elements can be understood using Peirce's semiotic theory, especially the relationship between Object, Representamen, and Interpretant.
