Abstract

Keywords: sugar industry, institutional transaction costs.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to test the correlation between perceived ease-of-usevariable and perceived usefulness variable, beliefs (perceived ease-of-use and perceivedusefulness) against behavior intention to use. The study also test the relationship between individual differences (computer self efficacy and knowledge of search domain) and system characteristics, which consist of relevance, terminology, and screen design against belief variables. The study replicates Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) developed by Hong et al. (2002) and implements in e-job vacancy area. The study used 163 respondents that consist of two different undergraduate students, the faculty of economics and informatics students. The results show that there are significant correlations among the perceived ease-of-use variable and perceived usefulness against behavior intention to use, computer self-efficacy and perceived ease-of-use variable, relevance and terminology variable againstperceived usefulness. Surprisingly, there are no significant correlations between perceivedease-of-use and perceived usefulness variable. There are weak correlations betweenknowledge of search domain and relevance variable against perceived ease-of use variable, terminology against perceived usefulness, and screen design variable against perceivedease-of–use and perceived usefulness. Keywords: Individual differences, system characteristics, TAM, SEM

Abstract

The specific goals of this research are: Firstly, in the long run perspective, the goal is toanalyze impact of policy that inflating agriculture price to growth, employment, andinvestment in agriculture sector. Secondly, in the short run perspective, the goals are: (1) to analyze which economic blocks that have most producing instability to agriculture sector, (2) to analyze behaviour of inflation in agriculture sector and causality relationship both among output price and input prices and among input prices.Quantitative methods that are used in this study are Vector Error Correction Model,Johansen Cointegration Test, and Granger Causality Test. Data used in this research fromseveral sources such as Bank Indonesia, BPS Statistic, International Financial Statistic andCEIC data Company Limited, series data from first mountly of 1993 (1993:01) up to thelast mountly of 2002 (2002:12).In the agriculture sector, production (output) and capital are responsive to change inthe output price. This mean that inflating the output price effectively help generate outputand new investment in this sector. Nevertheless because shock in price can be source ofinstability to agriculture sector, so government should becarefully apply policies that caninflating the price in agriculture. To solve unemployment problem in agriculture sector, government should apply cost strategy such as subsidy policy of input price. Keywords: Instabilitas, Pergerakan Harga, Employment, Investasi, Sektor Pertanian,Vector Error Correction Model, Johansen Cointegration Test and Granger Causality Test

Abstract

The objectives of this study is to formulate a transfer formula of fund from the central government to regional governments, especially the general purpose transfers or general allocation funds (Dana Alokasi Umum/DAU) to fulfill the normative criteria of Law No. 25/1999 by considering the condition of human development at the regions. The formula can be used to equalize interregional fiscal capacities, and to analyze the impact of DAU transfer to the regional revenue equalization, by using the indicators of variation coefficient and Williamson’s index. The fiscal gap approach is used to formulate DAU Formula. The impact of the DAU Formula to interregional revenue equalization is calculated by simulating variation coefficient and Williamson’s index. This study found that the DAU IPM Formula, using human development variables is more appropriate for Indonesia as a substitute to the current DAU Formula. From the simulation this DAU IPM Formula result in a better rate of fiscal equalization, especially for the districts/municipalities.Keywords: Transfer formula, General Allocation Funds, DAU Formula, Human development, Variation coefficient, Williamson’s index, Interregional revenue equalization.

Abstract

The corruption remains significant and unfair barriers to trade and economic1 Terima kasih kepada reviewer atas masukan yang sangat berharga untuk penyempurnaan tulisan ini.development in many countries. These practices increase costs, decrease fair competitionand represent a significant deterrent to foreign investment. Previous studies have showedthat corruption tends to have negative impact on foreign direct investment (FDI) but onlyfew studies have investigated the possibility of effects in the opposite direction. Thispaper attempts to find the relationship between corruption and FDI with two ways:assess the effect of inflows of FDI, as a measure of trade openness, on corruption at thecountry level and also attempts to see the effect of corruption on FDI. It conductsregression analysis on a cross section of six ASEAN countries over the period 1997 to2005 and controls for some other variables likely to impact on corruption as well as FDI.The result shows that there’s significant impact of corruption on inflows of FDI, and inopposite indicated that inflows of FDI is significant with the lower level of corruption insix ASEAN countries. Keywords: Korupsi, Penanaman Modal Asing, ASEAN

Abstract

Since the monetary and economic crisis in mid-1997 there has never been agreement, or serious debate, on how to measure economic recovery. Is it when foreign exchange rate can be stabilized or after banking recapitalization and business restructurization can be fully implemented? Even when economic growth has resumed mid-1999 and the beginning of 2000, some economist argued that it is still an artificial growth when investment has not recovered to the pre-crisis level. The article proposes different view: that is, because of the important role the Ekonomi Rakyat (estimated about 50-60% of total Indonesian economy), the economic recovery has taken place, and the ekonomi rakyat has made adjustment to the changing situation relatively easily. The argument has been strengthened by our research findings in the regions (provinces, kabupaten, and villages) which shows much smaller rate of economic contraction in 1998. It is expected that regional autonomy to be implemented in the beginning of 2001 will speed up the process of the development of ekonomi rakyat and the realization of economic democracy in the regions and the country as a whole. Keywords: economic recovery, conglomeration, ekonomi rakyat, and regional autonomy.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the dimensions of hierarchical service quality in the area of the banking sector as well as to determine its relationships with other constructs, namely corpo-rate image and customer loyalty. One hundred and eleven respondents participated in this study. Partial Least Squares were employed to analyse the data. The inner and outer model evaluations showed that the proposed model was robust. This study found that the interaction quality, outcome quality and physical quality were the dimensions of service quality which were formed in the hierarchical model. In addition, this study indicated that service quality was a robust determinant of corporate image and customer loyalty in the banking sector. Similar to service quality, corporate image was also found to be an essential predictor of customer loyalty as well as the mediator between service quality and customer loyalty. To enhance the under-standing of service quality in the banking sector, further studies might add additional constructs such as brand engagement, perceived value, and customer experience. Keywords: service quality, image, loyalty, bank

Abstract

This research investigates the issue of relationship between fundamental variables:asset growth, liquidity, leverage, total asset turn over and return asset, and systematic risk (beta) at two periods: before and after monetary crisis. The objectives of this research are: (1) to examine the effect of fundamental variables to systematic risk and (2) to examine the effect of monetary crises on systematic risk. The samples of this research are: 56 manufacture firms for before monetary crisis period and 105 manufacture firms for after monetary crisis period. The analysis shows that before monetary crises asset growth, total asset turn over and return on investment affect beta significantly. But, after monetary crisis period only leverage variable affect beta significantly. Based on these results investor can use fundamental variables to analyse systematic risk. This research also shows systematic risk before and after monetary crises are different. The results of this research confirm Ahmed and Lockwood (1998) that systematic risk is different in different economics condition. Keywords: beta, fundamental variables, monetary crisis
