Abstract

ABSTRACT Hongkong caterpillar cultivation is one of the actvities of people in Oro-oro Ombo Village, Batu. Its production capacity is 2-3 tons per week or 8-12 tons per month. The products are in the form of hongkong caterpillars and feces. Marketing area of Hongkong cartepillar is some cities at Java. The problems faced by farmer group are low production efficiency and capacity because some steps in cultivation are done manually. Alternative solution is technology transfer by mechanical equipment in cultivation including cutting machine, sieving, and semi automatic shredder. The results of the implementation are an increase in production efficiency, product quality and production capacity of Hongkong cater-pillars. Improvement of existing pro-duction systems with the application of Good Manufacturing Practice, logbook production and management of SME financial statements that is more pro-fessional, besides increasing awareness of health and safety among workers that suggests to increase production capacity that is expected to increase revenue.Keyworda: efficiency of production,  Hongkong caterpillars, production capacity

Abstract

ABSTRACTTo assess whether aidequipment program for science and technology to mendong craftsman living in village of Blayu, in Blayu sub-district gives a positive impact for the recipient, so it is needed analysis to know how far such aidequipment program effectively to the people. For the purpose of this research is to know the effectiveness of aid equipment including its training is to encourage the growth of mendong production into quality need for local, regional and international market. The method to assess the effectiveness of development of mendong craftsmen is used descriptive analysis. Such analysis using the method of evaluation of the effectiveness of programs by using the table associated with the importance and effectiveness of the recipient. To assess such effectiveness is used method called Importance Performace Analysis (IPA).The results of this research showed that aid equipment is recognized extremely small, although it could increase production and reduce the hours of operation. This research resulted in the finding that the aid of mendong equipment can cause social jealousy. This is because the aid given only to a small group, while the other groups is not given aid yet. Keywords:aid equipment, effectivity, important performance analysis

Abstract

Production of freshwater fish in Pro-bolinggo tend to decrease mainly due to the increase of feed cost. The purposed of this activity was dissemination of or-ganic feed technology utilization in Purut village, Lumbang and Klenang Lor village, Banyu Anyar, Probolinggo. The method of Participatory Rural Appraisal was used. This method consisted of socializa-tion, training, monitoring and evaluati-on. Utilization of organic feed was per-formed on a tarp tank with an area of 15 m2 (3 tarp pools) with stocking density (5-7 cm) of ±333  fish/m2 in each group.  Production of 1.32 tons was obtained after 75 days catfish culture with FCR value of 2.5. The profit of production by using this technology was IDR 4.290.000 per cycle. There is an increase in profit of IDR 2.190.000 (104.3%) compared to the usual culture due to a decrease of feed costs by applied this technology. Finally, the farmers can get information about the production of organic feed, can produce their own organic feed as a substitute to commercial feed and can increase their income. Abstract

Strawberry and tamarillo are antioxidant rich fruits that suitable for health functional drinks.  Tamarillo is rich in anthocyanin and carotenoids, meanwhile straxberry has high anthocianin content.  Two small medium entreprises (SMEs) in Batu City that produces strawberry and tamarillo drinks are SME Natural and SME Ridha Nabilla, separately. Both products have high marketing prospect because Batu in one of tour destinations.  However, both SMEs have difficulty to grow their business due to small capacity and inefficiency of both antioxidant rich drinks. This program is aimed to solve the problems in low capacity and inefficiency of strawberry drink production, i.e. extraction, filtration, and packaging, as well as the problem in production of strabwerry jam from strawberry cake. Meanwhile the problem of tamarillo drink production is limited capacity of extraction, filtration, and packaging. Method of this program was technology transfer of mechanical processing by using industrial boiling stainles pan, acceleration of sedimentation by using sentrifuge, increasing packaging capacity and efficiency by semi automatic cup sealer, and increasing strawberry cake crushing by using industrial blender.   Also, the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices was conducted step by step through accompaniment. The results showed that both antioxidant rich drink SMEs can increase their production capacity and efficiency in extraction, filtration, and packaging.  Capacity of extraction increase 4-5 times compared to capacity before the program.  Filtration efficiency increases by reduction time of filtration from 1 day to 15 min.  Semi automatic cup sealer can increase packaging capacity from 300 to 1500 cups/day.  Strawberry cake crushing also increases by using industrial blender with capacity 30 kg/batch.  Both SMEs gradually implement the GMP to produce safe and qualified products.

Abstract

Coffee bean dryer is one of the solutions to solve the problems in the village of Andungbiru, Tiris, Probolinggo. The drier can be used to minimize the power loss in micro hydro power plant and increase the production of coffee without depending on the weather and sunshine. This coffee dryer was designed to have a compact and mobile. It consisted of 20 vertical drying rack arranged to save the energy. Using the drier, time and human energy used for drying coffee became shorter and more efficient. The cost was five times more cheaply compared to drying in a conventional manner. Besides, the application of coffee dryer was also be used for drying grain because it was equipped with temperature control to regulate the temperature inside the oven. The use of this coffee dryer had other benefits for management micro-hydro power plant. Electrical energy from micro hydro plant which usually discarded during the day, could be used for the processing of coffee

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the economic feasibility of koi fish (Cyprinus carpio L) culture with the use of alternative feed plus probiotics, compared with a koi fish culture with use of comercial feed. The method used is descriptive method with qualitative and quantitative analysis. The calculations show that the koi fish culture with use of alternative feed plus probiotics comparing with koi fish culture with use commercial feed, respectively, had profit = 6.28 million rupiahs and 25.971 million rupiahs / year; Rentability = 30.63 and 126.69%; R / C ratio = 1.14 and 1.59; Break Event Point Unit = 307.43 and 128 fish; and payback period = 3.26 and 0.10 years. It can be concluded that the the koi fish culture in the village of Lumbang with the use of alternative feed plus probiotics more efficient, profitable, and deserves to be run and developed  by fish farmers in the village of Lumbang, compared with koi fish culture with the use of the commercial feed
