Abstract

In the previous study, learning process by using relevant software with the course had been developed in the statistic course and mechanical drawing course. This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using ANSYS software as a tool to help students fulfil the objectives and competencies of Finite Element Method course. The questionnaire consisting of three simple questions to elicit information about lecturer and course evaluation, level of satisfaction and suggestions for course development. The 60 respondents were taken randomly from two Finite Element course classrooms. The evaluation result showed that 60% students could understand the Finite Element Method lesson better with the assistance of ANSYS, 26% said that there was no significant difference with the previous learning methods, 14 % stated that the method used in the previous learning process was better. Regarding sustaining the use of ANSYS application in the learning process, 89% students agreed to continue since they argued that it could improve their problem-solving skills as essential skills to succeed in the industrial job market.

Abstract

All this time, the form of web-based learning implementation has brought optimal learning process. Yet, it requires an instructional design as a learning model that can be liked by the students to engage in various learning activities such as discussions, frequently asked questions, and learning process requests that require face-to-face learning. The blended learning design is developed based on ten methods of learning model design of Gerlach and Ely. Furthermore, it can be developed into learning steps (syntax) of blended learning.

Abstract

Abstract

The principle of problem characterizes the features of an objective assessment of the quality of education in the fileld of "Veterinary". The article provides the substantiation and specificity of the methodology of test control of the level of knowledge in the disciplines of the contagious cycle, aspects of its improvement. The examples presented in the materials clearly demonstrate the adaptation of testing technologies in the system of higher veterinary education. When implementing problem training in the disciplines of the clinical cycle of veterinary education, an improved system of test-control serves as an objective indicator of the level of knowledge and ability to make operational decisions by students in the formation of their professional competencies.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to apply the concept of SWOT combined with Analytic Hierarcy Process (AHP) in the determination of alternative policy or development strategies. The data used in this study are hypothetical data simulated in the SWOT-AHP model. Given that this study is a model simulation, there are several assumptions used before the data is simulated into the SWOT-AHP model. There are three development alternatives assumed in this study: (1) college diversification and differentiation, (2) development of university into polytechnic or D4 or S1, and (3) development of supporting business unit of university. The three alternatives are analyzed by SWOT-AHP approach in order to determine appropriate development alternatives through 32 questions. The result of the study show that the SWOT-AHP model can be used in the determination of alternative college development. In the implementation, the number of respondents, as well as the parties involved need to be adjusted in order to provide optimal result.

Abstract

Computer assisted language learning has been the major issue in the recent decades. Several free networking sites focusing on language learning are offered abundantly. Nonetheless, most of the extant studies seem to compare the traditional way of learning language and modern one per se. This paper, on the other hand, will focus on task evaluation of CALL system as proposed by Chapelle (2001). Six criteria of CALL assessments; language learning potential, learner fit, authenticity, meaning focus, positive impact, and practicality, will be employed to delve Livemocha and Duolingo’s language learning task on Dutch course for basic level. The researcher here plays role as the key instrument in which the data were gained through the experience of using Livemocha and Duolinggo. The Dutch, as foreign language, is chosen as the subject to be studied. As the results, it is intriguing that Livemocha’ task for Dutch course is not adequately fit to beginner leaners. Meanwhile, its counterpart questionably complies authenticity point. The beginner learners may efficiently make use of computer assisted language learning tool to foster their study on foreign language. Nonetheless, they have to be aware of which tool can accelerate their purpose better.

Abstract

From 2016 to 2017, the writer composed a pocket book correspondence business email in Japanese language for her students who were completing internship program at Japanese companies in Indonesia. To assess the quality of the book in the perspective of native Japanese speakers who were business practitioners in Indonesia, the writer asked the native speakers to assess and to give advice on the quality of the book. The native speakers then suggested some aspects to be reviewed in the pocket book to make the sentences more polite without losing their practicality and effectiveness. This current study attempted to investigate the use of politeness strategies as suggested by two Japanese native speakers, in the theoretical framework as defined by Brown and Levinson (1978), among businessmen in their written international business communication especially in email. Based on interview and analysis made by the native speakers, the writer found that they suggested using positive and shorter expressions in expressing orders, requests, offers, complaints, apologies, and suggestions.
