Abstract

Indonesia is one of the world's tea exporters, but the decline in the volume and value of its exports to date continues to occur. This study aims to 1) analyze the production trend and export volume of Indonesian tea. 2) analyze Indonesian tea competitiveness in the International market compared to other exporter countries (China, India, Kenya, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam).  3) analyze the determining factors of Indonesia's tea export volume to 7 major destination countries (Malaysia, Russia, Pakistan, USA, Germany, Poland, and Australia). The analysis methods used are simple linear regression, Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), Trade Specialization Ratio (TSR), and data panel regression. The results showed that the production and volume of Indonesian tea export will decrease every year. Indonesian tea has a very strong comparative competitiveness, but still below India, Kenya, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam. Indonesia tends to be an exporter of tea to the international market at the stage of export expansion. Factors determining the volume of Indonesian export are Indonesian tea production, the population of importer countries, real GDP per capita of importer countries, level of trade openness of importer countries, and importer countries' inflation rate.

Abstract

During the current pandemic, almost everything we need, both primary and secondary, we can fulfill from online services. In the era of globalization and the ease of online shopping transactions can lead toconsumptive behavior, especially considering the current situation in the corona virus crisis, whereconsumer behavior has begun to change drastically. This study used Structural Equation Modeling-PartialLeast Square (SEM-PLS) analysis with the WarpPLS approach, to predict the magnitude of the relationshipamong latent variables and between latent variable and its indicator. The dominant variables in the researchon the effect of purchase intention of processed apple products at Shopee are trust, online shoppingattitudes, subjective norms and purchase intentions. Trust in product purchase intention produces a pathcoefficient of 0.320 with a confidence interval value [0.160;0.481]. The test results showed that the pathcoefficient was positive with a high significance level. Online shopping attitude on product purchaseintention produces a path coefficient of 0.422 with a confidence interval value [0.261; 0.627], the pathcoefficient was positive with a high significance level so that this sub hypothesis can be accepted.Subjective norm on product purchase intention produces a path coefficient of 0.250 with a confidenceinterval value [0.104;0.397], the path coefficient was positive with a high significance level. Purchaseintention on purchasing decisions produces a path coefficient of 0.509 with a confidence interval value[0.370; 0.648], the path coefficient was positive with a high significance level.

Abstract

The agricultural sector contributes almost half of the Indonesian economy. Based on data from BPS in 2019-2020, this sector provides food for more than 270 million people and dominates the source of income in Indonesia by 33.4 million (27.33%). Unfortunately, the high opportunity and prospects are accompanied by a lack of enthusiasm among the younger generation to pursue agricultural careers, resulting in a decline in regeneration. Some influential factors included: (1) the perception that the agricultural sector is less promising in the future, (2) the lack of prestige of relatively low salaries, and (3) the existence and influence of social strata in the community. The current study aimed to investigate students' perceptions and interests, particularly those of agricultural students, concerning their career choices and corroborate the phenomena of the young generation's falling interest in agricultural careers. The participants were 100 agriculture students from the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya (FP UB). The study implemented a quantitative approach with a survey method. The data were analyzed using Tableau. The results showed that there were two dominant factors, external and internal, that influenced the career choices of agriculture students. Additionally, the responses from the students based on gender (male and female) were also different. The findings of this study provide a broader view on how to improve students' interest in agricultural careers through external and internal assistance, namely motivation and practical experiences during the academic year.

Abstract

Using the CCCD project as the locus of study, this paper reconstructs the empowerment process to reveal and arrange the instruments used at each empowerment stage. The performance measurement instrument was used to measure whether the organization involved in the project was related to project activities directly or indirectly. These two activities helped us compile criteria for the various organizations involved and conceptually draw the pattern of organizational relationships. Findings showed three main processes: (1) the process of identifying and selecting organizations, (2) the process of mentoring and facilitation, and (3) the process of evaluation and follow-up plan. The organizations or groups were divided into primary, secondary, and tertiary groups. Primary groups were directly related and involved in the project. Secondary groups could be involved and did not depend on funding and assistants. Tertiary groups did not need to be involved unless they had such political consequences to influence other groups. The group itself took part in decision-making about management patterns. The pattern could not be separated from the dynamics of policies, markets, and local village and supra-village politics. Based on these findings, the CCCD project confirms that a group empowerment approach must focus on the substantive aspect of achieving project goals, while the procedural aspect merely supports the administrative arrangement so objectives can be achieved more efficiently.

Abstract

Market integration research has often been used to evaluate agricultural products' marketing performance. However, the involvement of marketing agencies in chili marketing resulted in a relatively high price difference and impacted market integration. So it is essential to understand how the chili market integration as an effort to improve marketing efficiency and price control policies. The study analyzed the causality and market integration of cayenne pepper prices at the farmers' and retailers' levels in East Java Province. The study used weekly cayenne pepper price data at the farmers' and retailers' levels from 2016 - 2020. The secondary data was obtained from the Department of Industry and Trade of East Java Province. The analytical methods used in this study were Engle-Granger Causality analysis and Error Correction Model (ECM). The findings showed that retail prices caused the farmgate prices, but not the other way. However, the price of cayenne pepper at the farmer and retail level in East Java Province has been integrated. Therefore, this study showed that there needs to be an improvement in the farmers' institutional system to improve the farmers' bargaining position to reduce the power of the selling price control at the farmers' level by traders.

Abstract

This research focuses on health and education as basic needs to build society through public services. Quality and accessibility are a series of processes to provide valuable services to society as a whole. Additionally, there is regional development to be closer and reach the community to avoid imbalances that occur between regions. This study used survey data collection methods and data analysis using quantitative descriptive. The sample of this study was 195 respondents spread across three districts of the City of Mojokerto using stratified random sampling related to a proportional sample. The findings in this study indicate that public services affected the quality and accessibility improvement of the people of Mojokerto Regency. However, public perception still showed that public services are not yet quality and affordable in all areas of society. Thus, public services have not been felt with the ease of access in some areas. There needs to be an evaluation of public services to provide welfare and improve connectivity between regions.

Abstract

Coffee is one of the most important agricultural plantation commodities in Indonesia, contributing 1.17 billion USD to the country's foreign exchange in 2017. Indonesia was also the world's fourth-largest coffee exporter from 2011 to 2017. However, the performance of coffee production and trade is very dynamic. In 2018, there was a significant drop in coffee exports by 40.23%, relegating Indonesia to sixth place even until 2020. Coffee production also fluctuates significantly, in contrast to the constantly rising coffee demand. This research aimed to figure out what factors influence Indonesian coffee production and trade performance. A simultaneous equation model using the 2SLS approach was employed as the methodology. The findings revealed that, in the production block, cocoa prices and interest rates had a significant influence (  10%) on the coffee land areas. In contrast, domestic coffee prices, rainfall, and trends significantly impacted coffee productivity. Meanwhile, in the trade block, domestic coffee prices and non-tariff dummy barriers significantly influence Indonesia's total coffee exports. As a result, it can be deduced that changes in the input prices (substitution commodity prices, interest rates, rainfall, and trend) have a better impact on coffee production, while the output prices (domestic coffee prices) on the coffee trade performance.

Abstract

Rice turns out as significant commodity in order to meet people’s needs of food on a half of the world's population. Rice is the most consumed commodity in Asia and wold, especially countries that are members of the ASEAN+3. The need for rice that is a basic necessity must be met, thus, the supply must be maintained as well to meet the needs of staple food, and every country conducts a trade through import activities. This study aims at examining whether there is a spatial interaction of rice import in the ASEAN+3. The results of the Moran I Test show that there is a spatial interaction on rice import in the ASEAN+3 towards 11 selected countries. Trade groupings (agglomeration) were also identified in the trade area. Identification of trade groupings occurs in several countries regarding countries that are in the low-high quadrant such as Vietnam, Thailand, Republic of Korea and Indonesia.

Abstract

In the smart agriculture system based on green-based technology of artificial intelligence (AI), flooding can be predicted early by forecasting the water surface and good agricultural irrigation. The process of rising and falling of the water surface in a water basin area can be explained theoretically, but since there are many related variables and the complexity of dependencies between variables, the mathematical model is difficult to construct. Forecasting water surface in the field of irrigation needs too many variable parameters, such as cross-sectional area, depth, volume of rivers and so on. Based on patterns in each period, forecasting can be done using a statistical method and AI. This study uses the support vector regression (SVR) method, regression, multiple linear regression, and algorithm backpropagation, all compared to one another. The results of tests carried out between SVR and multiple linear regression show that SVR is superior. This can be seen from the result of the mean square error (MSE) obtained for each method. SVR 0.03 and for multiple linear regression, 0.05. The result is also supported by the best MSE result in the regression method, which is 0.338, and the best MSE value in artificial neural network (ANN), which is 0.428.
