Abstract

The internet and social media have influenced how feminist activists work today. In Indonesia, digital feminist activism was found to have been initiated by young women to deconstruct the general view related to women's empowerment, gender equality, networking, and mobilizing the protest constituents to the street. The opening of networks between countries by the internet has the potential to be the "bridge" for global feminism’s vision to the local agenda of feminist activists. Hence, this study aims to provide a discourse on the textual network of digital activism in the case of Jakarta Feminist. As a result, although the Jakarta Feminists have adopted a form of movement and entered the global network, the existing discourse shows the dominance of local issues and agendas such as gender-based violence, women’s representation, and human rights. Abstract

This study analyzes the labor process of ride-hailing workers and the platformcompany’s control over them. This research employs Labour Process Theory (LPT)to examine the labor process and control critically. Based on in-depth interviewswith motorcycle drivers working for Go-Jek and Grab between June 2020 and June2021 in Yogyakarta, Kediri, and Jakarta, this research found that labor or workersare transformed into a commodity where job supply and demand are confounded andmediated by digital platforms. Algorithmic management, utilized in this industry, playsa significant role in this digital industry, including its use as a point of production and asa mechanism of control and monitoring in the workplace. The use of feedback systems,ratings, and platform ratings as a consequence of emotional work is used by managersto help monitor their employees. Furthermore, this study reveals that the form of controlconducted by the platform represents an unequal power relation, which producesdissatisfaction and conflicts. We argue that the labor process in this job resembles whatwe coined “algorithmic exploitation,” which means that the platform companies aredeliberately using technology and obscuring the control process over the operations ofthe workers to instill the high standards of service, while the workers are trapped in avery weak employment status as “partners.”

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of social capital on the welfare of the coastal population of Rokan Hilir Regency. This study used a survey method with a quantitative approach. Welfare indicators include income, family expenditure, health and access to health services, housing conditions and facilities, education, and access to transportation. Meanwhile, the indicators of social capital include network participation variables, reciprocal relations, trust, social norms, social values ​​and proactiveness. The results of this study showed that six variables of social capital had a positive influence on the increase in coastal people welfare. These variables contribute at the level of 64.0% in terms of welfare improvement. The network participation variable (PN) affects more effectively than other variables, where an increase of one unit of the network participation index (PN) will increase the welfare level index (Y) to 0.451. Furthermore, the reciprocity (RC) and proactive (PR) variables have an equal effect on welfare, where an increase of one unit will increase the welfare index (Y) by 0.120 - 0.124 units with a significant level of 0.1. Finally, the variables of trust (TR), norm (SN) and value (SV) have an equal effect on welfare (Y) of 0.9 - 0.112, meaning that if one or all the three variables increase by one unit index, the welfare (Y) will increase between 0.9 - 0.112 index units

Abstract

As a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, the business sector, particularly SME’s, iscurrently undergoing turbulence. To combat this epidemic, SMEs doers must increasetheir efficiency and effectiveness and maximize their market share by leveragingpossibilities and innovative solutions. Prior to and during a pandemic, small andmedium-sized enterprises (SMEs) faced challenges that may have led to their bankruptcyrather than having a large influence on the national economy and the micro welfare.having The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the innovation strategycarried out by SMEs in dealing with potential bankruptcy in the Covid-19 pandemicera. Innovation strategy is measured through “Cost Research and Development”, whilebankruptcy prediction is calculated using “Z Score Altman Model”. The research usedprimary data, namely financial data questionnaires, while the sample and researchpopulation were SMEs in the province of Central Java. The results show that theinnovation strategy is proven to be able to influence SMEs bankruptcy prediction, andits financial performance is proven to be a significant moderating variable which, if itshows good results, then it can weaken the bankruptcy prediction. Furthermore, thisinnovation strategy is also able to reduce the prediction of bankruptcy because it has apositive effect; the higher the innovation strategy, the higher the Z-Score value is, whilethe potential for bankruptcy prediction becomes smaller.

Abstract

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has changed the people’slifestyles all over the world. This crisis has influenced the packaging design activityas well. Thus, companies should define the new normal packaging that responds to thepandemic situation and new normal living. This study aims to explore the new normalin packaging design by using blog text analysis. Thematic analysis with an inductiveapproach was done using NVivo12 software and an Excel sheet was used to discoverpatterns of common ideas or themes of the new normal packaging design. This studyhas identified 13 key trends in new normal packaging design, including sustainability,e-commerce, and hygienic-centric design. The findings provide insights for packagingdesigners, brand owners, and marketers to create and develop new standard packaging.

Abstract

With the help of several websites and smartphone application platforms, the number of digital visual arts performances and exhibitions is expanding. This indicates that social relationships have migrated into the virtual realm, offering artists more communication flexibility with a larger audience. This research investigates the social interactionbetween artists and viewers during an art exhibition and performance in a digital art environment. As actual space transforms into virtual space, the creation of digital art space signals a shift in the way art actors and viewers interact with art exhibitions. Digital art spaces allow users to connect and communicate as they see fit in the virtual world. Art exhibitions in the digital art space may be defines as taking place in a 3D environment arena with sophisticated interaction between organizers, artists, and spectators using a variety of communication method.

Abstract

The field of technology has experienced phenomenal growth. Moreover, the evolutionof cellphones has become a major draw for customers. The aim of this study is tovalidate the effect of marketing mix components and interest in purchasing decisions forSamsung brand smartphones in the Tambaksari District (Surabaya City). A total of 498informants were recruited and interviewed for data collection on pricing, promotions,distributions, interests, and purchasing decisions at cellular kiosks and electronic stores.After the data were collected, they were analyzed using the multiple linear regressionmethod. The model feasibility procedure concluded that all seven hypotheses wereaccepted (p<0.05). In the direct effect, any increase in price, promotion, distribution,and interest can increase purchasing decisions. From the indirect effect, it is evidentthat interest is a consistent mediator in increasing its influence on price, promotion,and distribution on purchasing decisions. The marketing channel applied by the sellerinfluences consumer decisions through interest. This study’s approach should thereforebe developed through constructive consumer attention.

Abstract

This book is organized into eleven chapters and consists of three parts with different characteristics to discuss. Written by Giulano Di Baldassare as lead author and in certain chapters contributed by other authors: Paul D. Bates, Timothy J. Fewtrell, and Jeffrey C. Neal in Chapter 8; Luigia Brandimarte in Chapter 2; and Ioana Popescu in Chapter 3. Giulano Di Baldassare is known as a researcher and senior lecturer at the UNESCO-IHE for Water Education based in Delft, The Netherlands. His lectures included: hydrodynamics and remote sensing, hydrological statistics, flood management, and others related to fluids and hydraulic field. As an academic, Dr. Di Baldassare has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed journals, 60 other scientific articles, and was awarded the Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the European Geosciences Union. In addition, he applied practical his knowledge to projects relate to flood disaster mitigation, such as the coordinator of the FP7 KULTURisk EC project.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan menganalisis hubungan linguistik dengan dental hypnosis dengan membandingkan penelitian-penelitian sebelumnya. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan a scoping review yang berpedoman pada Joana Briggs Institute, 2020. Pencarian artikel menggunakan database elektronik (Pubmed, google scholar, clinicalkey) dengan memasukkan kata kunci sesuai topik yang diteliti, yaitu “dental anxiety”, “dental hypnosis”, “communication for dental hypnosis”, dan “linguistic for hypnosis”. Artikel yang dikumpulkan adalah artikel yang terbit pada 2000-2020. Pengumpulan artikel dilakukan pada 20 – 27 Februari 2021. Pada pencarian data awal diperoleh 249 artikel. Artikel diseleksi dan direduksi dengan memerhatikan kelengkapan isi artikel, yaitu berisi tanggal dan nama penulis, metode penelitian yang digunakan, sampel, hasil penelitian yang sesuai dengan topik penelitian, dan memenuhikriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Hasil penelusuran tersebut menghasilkan sepuluh artikel yang berkaitan langsung dengan penelitian. Sepuluh artikel yang telah dianalisis menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara terapi dental hypnosis dengan linguistik.
