Abstract

This study examined vocational teachers’ and administrators’ perception of ASEAN cooperation in tourism training and identify factors affecting their perception. A documentary and questionnaire were employed to collect data. At least 79 percent of respondents agreed that ASEAN information is disseminated widely, clearly, continuously and it is easy to recognize ASEAN publications among others. However, information about the regional cooperation in tourism training in particular was not considered to be adequate. Administrators and teachers in general had positive attitudes toward ASEAN cooperation. Yet while respondents did not appreciate the impact of differences in national culture and school formal organization procedures on ASEAN cooperation, the results of this research showed that nationality and school status do influence their perception, and thus, guide their behavior in cooperation. The data also revealed a fact that schools value resources that ensure quality of training provision rather than existing relations or financial resources of a potential partner.

Abstract

Medical Tourism was coined when people started looking for cost-effective treatments internationally. The success of this industry depends on the collaboration between private medical care providers and the tourism industry that focused on patients seeking critical and complex surgeries and other forms of specialized treatment. The main objective of this paper is to examine the perspectives of different stakeholders to position India as a global healthcare and medical tourism destination. Grounded theory was chosen as the main research methodology. Grounded theory is a systematic, inductive approach to help understand complex social processes. The main motivation that encouraged this choice is the ability of grounded theory to handle the emergence of problems identified by participants in a study. The principal data collection method was interview of likely stakeholders in the medical tourism industry in India. Using the constant comparison technique, data from interviews were coded and grouped into similar categories to identify patterns. This study highlighted the importance of branding in positioning India as a medical hub and the importance of public-private partnerships in exploring the emerging avenues in healthcare tourism. The research results will also help in gaining some valuable insights which will help all the interest groups and beneficiaries to make maximum advantage of healthcare travel.

Abstract

Advances in the development of internet technologies have created new avenues for the hotel industry; however embracing internet technologies does not necessitate the success of any hoteliers. From a customer perspective, ability to access more information meant that service providers such as hoteliers need to meet increasing demands to fulfill expectations. It is imperative that the hotel industry must constantly adapt to environment changes such as meeting the demands of customers utilizing innovative technology. While most hoteliers would agree that using the Internet creates benefits for the customers, little is known about the mechanisms in generating customer satisfaction on the Internet. This study will explore the reasons that influenced Internet users ' satisfaction in the hotel industry and identify new directions of the Internet for the hotel industry.

Abstract

Reggae music is more than a popular music style. It has been an essential part of tourism development in Jamaica. The way in which reggae music has been interpreted since its inception is critical to understanding the music 's effect on Jamaica's touristic culture. This touristic culture describes the established social atmosphere of the community and attitude of local residents and visitors toward tourism within the region. The Jamaican government's effort to control the social movement and the role of reggae music in relation to tourism are viewed by understanding reggae music with respect to the Rastafarian movement. Governmental approaches played an important part in allowing the development of touristic culture with reggae music and the Rastafarian movement. The purpose of this study was to view the role of reggae music in Jamaican tourism development along with a social movement, the Rastafarian movement. This study was important because it served as a vehicle to understand the interplay of social movement and touristic culture. Such an understanding of touristic culture could be useful in tourism dependent regions. This study used an extensive review and analysis of the literature to make observations and conclusions.
