Abstract

Jihad and radicalism are often juxtaposed as if jihad is identical to radicalism. Unfortunately, the general public often mistakenly associates Pesantren with radicalism. Islam does not teach radicalism; instead Islam is a religion of peace. The concept of jihad in Islam cannot be identified with religious radicalism because jihad has broad meanings. This study was conducted to find out the epistemology of Islamic education at Pesantren in terms of the issues of jihad and radicalism. This study was conducted at Pesantren Al-Furqon in Musi Rawas district. Pesantren Al-Furqon organized an integrated Islamic school providing education making Islam a basis and guideline in carrying out learning activities and in shaping students’ attitudes and behavior. This study revealed that Islamic education at Pesantren Al-Furqon taught students to behave nobly according to Islamic teachings. Jihad was interpreted as sincere efforts to bring about peace but not in the sense of radicalism.

Abstract

The problem of dealing with different parties' affairs is one of the most critical problems that the state and government are trying to solve. Religious and intellectual differences are one of the most important reasons for the emergence of conflicts in society. Factual conditions show how the state experiences war conflicts between people of different religions and ideas. With its fair statutory provisions, Islam has provided the right solution to overcome the manifestations of conflict and disputes between Muslims and those of different religions and beliefs. Using an analytical method based on gathering information related to the topic, followed by an interpretation, criticism, and analysis, this study clarifies the concept of non-Muslims in Islam, its parts, and the differences between these parts, including the essential aspect of which is the Prophet Muhammad's guidance in dealing with non-Muslims. The research found that the difference for non-Muslims is a set of rights over Muslims, the state, and the people. When non-Muslims exercise these rights, they are entitled to full protection and security for themselves, their property, and their children. They also have the freedom to worship and believe according to their religion. In this context, the Islamic State and Muslims must guarantee this freedom to them.

Abstract

One of the most important tasks in performing an obligation of worship is that a servant is required to learn the law as it was formed by sharia and religion, so that he could worship properly. Hajj is one of Islam's pillars where Islamic law requires all followers to run it for those who have the ability, even if only once in their lifetime, as He has said in the al-Qur’an: “Pilgrimage thereto is a duty men owe to Allah,- those who can afford the journey; but if any deny faith, Allah stands not in need of any of His creatures.” (QS: Al-Imran: 97). There are requirements in carrying out the Hajj and Umrah which should be fulfilled in their completion as a servant must manage, understand, etc. There are obligations to be performed in the conduct of Hajj and Umrah, and one is Ihram, Ramy al-Jamarat, stay a night in muzdalifah and so on. Furthermore, in the act of performing hajj and umrah there have been several pillars that must be performed such as tawaf. While as far as tawaf is concerned, there is an interesting discussion among many of the scholars on the issue of tawaf during Hajj and Umrah where it would be required to remain to purify during the hajj and umrah especially for a women within her menstruation cycle.

Abstract

The importance of the teachers as role models for students is related to their personality to build the character of students. Character education can be carried out through existing programs in schools, such as integrating it in learning and implementing it through extracurricular activities. In addition, the curriculum influences all educational activities; without a curriculum, the learning process will not work well. In this case, the role of the teachers is not only to educate students following the curriculum demands but also to provide an example to students by becoming individual role models. Teachers who become role models will be able to show attitudes and behaviour following values and norms in daily life so that students can see and imitate them. Teacher as a role model will support the character education program and help students to have good character

Abstract

This resarch reviews disputes revolving around the division of joint property after a divorce in the Central Aceh Regency using the methods; discussion with family, discussion by involving the customary institution Sarak Opat, and filing a claim to the Takengon Syar’iyah Tribunal. In general, division of joint property in the Central Aceh Regency is done by discussion through the customary institution Sarak Opat. The division of joint property after a divorce in the Central Aceh Regency that is done through discussion takes into account which household the child grew up in and how much money that household makes. Although this is not in accordance with the provisions of Indonesia’s Marriage Law and the Islamic Law Compilation, it may be in accordance with Article 37 of Indonesia’s Marriage Law and that this would not violate the rules within Islamic Law nor Customary Law, since in its core within Islamic Law and Customary Law there are specific rules regarding percentage of division of joint property following a divorce

Abstract

This paper explores the contestation between Puritanism and traditionalism in Muslim communities focused oncase studies on the East Coast of Aceh by groups in urban religious recitation. The article addressing to the subject so far concludes that fundamentalism and traditionalism are two theological forces that are constantly in conflict with each other. This paper seeks to demonstrate that while interactions between the two groups are affected by doctrinal disputes, the two culturesare fairly effective in managing diversity, such that disparities in religious beliefs do not result in group tension and mass abuse. The data used in this research were collected through participatory evaluation, in-depth interviews and literature studies. Finally, this paper shows that the Acehnese people's ability to care for tolerance, although it seems clear that the practical tolerance practiced by the people who are the subjects of this research has been redefined and contextualized in line with the situation of a community dominated by traditionalist Muslim groups.
