Abstract

This paper is the exposition of tafsir in the frame of maqashid al-Shariah. Generally the discussion of maqashid al-shariah is about the purpose of sharia law, either general purpose or special purpose on the laws that God has set. But then the discussion maqashid al-Shariah shifted on the study of the Qur'an called maqashid al-Qur'an. If the Maqashid al-Shari'ah is more focused on the purpose of establishing Islamic law, while the verses of the Qur'an do not all contain Islamic laws. However, it is precisely on the scope of maqashid al-qur'an beyond the legal issues that are only a small part of the Qur'an. From here the scholars' come with the study of maqashid al-Qur'an pioneered by Abu Hamid al-Ghazli through his book, Jawahir al-Qur'an, and forwarded by Islamic thinkers such as Abduh, Rashid Rida, Badiuzzaman Said Nursi, Ibn Asyur , Muhammad Al-Ghazali, Izzat Darwazah, and so forth. The main points of the Qur'an are called maqashid al-Qur'an. The focus of maqashid al-Qur'an in this paper is surah al-Fatihah which is called Ummul Kitab or Ummul Quran. This surah is the key of a Muslim prayer of 17 rakaat for 5 times a day overnight. If one understands the maqashid al-quran on this surah, then this will make him understand the purposes of God in this surah.

Abstract

Lebanon refugees are the most numerous immigrants among other Arab countries. Substantially, the Lebanese immigration occurred in the period of 1860-1914 with a total of approximately 330,000 refugees. Massive immigration is happening to Arab countries, North America, South America, Africa, Australia, and Europe. Historians claim that the cause of the massive immigration is a conflict between religions and political suppression. Researcher wanted to examine other factors that cause immigration, which was written in the novel Al-Arwāḥal-Mutamarridah by Jibrān Khalīl Jibrān, which describes events that took place in Lebanon at that time. So as works of art, the novel also reveals the historical facts. This research led to the conclusion that some expressions in this novel identify the factors that contribute to the Lebanese immigration, which is not revealed in the history books.

Abstract

Divorce, which is a lawful (halal) but detested (makruh) act in Islam, is a common phenomenon in society. Usually, it is the husband who takes initiative to the case, not the other way around. Yet, with the recently growing number of divorce cases, the percentage of divorce initiated by the wife has significantly increased. This phenomenon is no doubt an urgent topic to be studied.

Abstract

Tolerance must be close to pluralism and multiculturalism which is not a new thing in academic studies. Many studies and research generalize about respect and appreciation for the diversity of ethnicity, religion, language and other cultures. For Javanese people who tend to be homogeneous in ethnicity but not too many long conflicts arise. Truth, the proof, One of the results of research in Salatiga which is one of the student cities in Central Java received the title of the second most tolerant city in Indonesia in 2018. But behind the award, there was contestation in the fields of education and religion. This paper will look again at tolerance in the Salatiga community after the award was obtained. Besides that, it also discussed competition in academia at IAIN Salatiga and Satya Wacana Kristen University (UKSW). Both educational institutions are based on religion, in which multiculturalism. Both educational institutions are based on religion, which is multicultural so that it impacts on the contestation of institutional policies, facilities and theological expansion. The results of this study are obtained from social phenomena which are understood by the phenomenology paradigm from reality understood in consciousness. In addition, during activities in Salatiga, there were also some social realities about tolerance and competition in the field of education. Finally, tolerance that has gone well does not mean without contestation. Contestation in this case is one of the social and cultural dynamics. Even to achieve social integration, sometimes conflict with good management is needed. This means that contestation or conflict does not always lead to division, but rather one of the paths to integration.

Abstract

The interpersonal communication of beggars involves the beggars’ interaction with their donors, and interaction among beggars. This communication incorporates symbols that have been given meaning, both verbal and non-verbal. This study aims to determine the motives that encourage someone to become a beggar in Banda Aceh, the effectiveness of the city government’s policy in handling the begging activities and to find out the process of interpersonal communication of the beggars. This study applies the descriptive qualitative method with phenomenology approach, to describe the meaning of some people’s lives. The research subjects are the beggars who are willing and able to provide the required information in-depth. The result shows that the interpersonal communication process among the beggars and the beggars with the donors are conducted through symbolic interaction by using language and symbols, and role-play performance creating condition and atmosphere which gave certain meanings. The communities performing such interactions had the ability to utilise symbols to create an impression that attracted the attention of donors. The actions raised people’s sympathy who will give charities to them in any expected feedback. The understanding of this issue is important for the realization of the implementation of the regulation but still maintaining the aspirations of the citizens who uphold Islamic values, the concept of giving to the people in need.

Abstract

Religious, inspirational, and motivational storytelling can develop hard a work ethic, and also cultivate spirituality that implicates the nation's progress. On the contrary, storytelling that "lulled" people will make the nation's generation become lazy, thus do not have work hard ethic. Children's stories in Indonesia are still contaminated with Isra'iliyat stories and contain trickery, even mystique, and sexual contents. Therefore it has implications for the nation's condition which is corrupt, adolescent free-sex, and rampant practice of political shamanism. This research examines the storytelling in Early Childhood Education in the study of the neuroscience of Islamic education. Elements of children's stories were analyzed in descriptive, interpretative, and comparative ways based on neuroscience learning theories, thus can be known which stories fit the brain work characteristics. The results showed that children's stories can be divided into three, which are robotic stories, the stories that could be damaging children's brain potential; academic stories, stories that could be emasculating children's brain; and scientific stories or neurostory telling, the stories that have the potential to optimize the children's brain.
