Abstract

In mathematics, especially Arithmetic, there is a theory of numbers that can represent philosophical values. Mathematics is often presented with materialist values without deep meaning. One group of classical philosophers with mathematical thoughts, especially number theory, which explains the number material itself and relates it to meaningful philosophical values, is Ikhwān al-Ṣafā'. This research aims to reveal the philosophical values contained in the thought of the number. Using a qualitative research method based on a literature study approach, the researcher specifically examines the phenomenal book Rasā'il Ikhwān al-Ṣafā' as a primary source as well as other relevant references as secondary sources. The study found that in the number theory of Ikhwān al-Ṣafā', there are philosophical values such as monotheism described by the characteristics of the number one and the value of creation described by the sequence of the number ladder. This research initiates a discourse on the philosophy of numbers that previously has never been studied for it will serve as a pioneer for further research.

Abstract

This research aims to discuss the important role of teachers as educators and role models in educational institutions, especially in character education at SDIT Al-Izzah Banten. Based on the theoretical framework proposed by Moeslim Abdurrahman, this study emphasizes the importance of role models in character education by underlining the essence of religious teachings that must be applied in everyday life. This study uses a qualitative method with a triangulation technique that combines data from field observations, interviews with teachers and principals, and related literature. This research explores the character education paradigm at SDIT Al-Izzah, emphasizing the importance of acculturating character in the school culture through exemplary behaviour, discipline, habituation, wise advice, and rewards for good behaviour. The research highlights the comprehensive involvement of the school community, including the principal, teachers, administrative staff, caretakers, parents and the local community in creating an environment conducive to character development. Notably, the research revealed the extension of disciplinary practices beyond the classroom, encompassing daily routines such as absences for congregational prayers and communal meals, which contribute to the overall moral formation of students.

Abstract

Every child has the fundamental right to protection, which includes having a guardian. If the child's parents are still alive, they are automatically considered the guardians. But in certain cases where this is not possible, a court will assign another person or a governmental institution to act as the child's guardian. The laws and regulations surrounding guardianship in Indonesia are often inconsistent. This study aims to clarify the age requirements for children in need of a guardian, the procedures for appointing a guardian, as well as the duties and responsibilities of guardians according to Indonesian laws. The research also highlights areas for improvement. To achieve this, a statutory approach is adopted, with legal regulations in Indonesia on children and guardianship as the primary source of data. The findings reveal that the age requirements for children to have a guardian range from 16 to 19 years. Additionally, a court order is required for the appointment of a guardian to ensure legal validity. Additionally, the selection of a guardian needs to go through a court ruling in order to ensure legal clarity. The regulations differ from one to another, and in the process, there have been no affirmative efforts taken to expedite the process of appointing a guardian, which has the impact of children not being protected from the start. Affirmation efforts can be carried out through the involvement of village government officials and the subdistrict Religious Affairs Office for those who are Muslim. Then, regarding the duties and responsibilities of guardians, there are still differences either the guardian’s obligation to fulfil a child’s physical and spiritual needs or maintain the child’s assets. These provisions need to be combined to provide comprehensive protection for children from various aspects

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools, known as pesantrens, serve as institutions dedicated to the preservation of knowledge passed down by their respective kiyai. The significance of pesantrens in Indonesia within the national education framework has expanded, influencing various sectors. Their impact on both national and international education has increased progressively, emphasizing modernization, educational quality, community dynamics within Islamic boarding schools, and human capital. The primary objective of this research is to elucidate the role played by the intellectual network of pesantrens in Indonesia. This investigation is conducted through a comprehensive review of existing literature using qualitative research methods. The analytical approach employed encompasses both descriptive and critical analyses. The study reveals that present-day pesantrens encounter a multitude of challenges that necessitate appropriate solutions. Among these challenges is the emergence of the Islamic reform movement. The enduring presence of pesantrens in Indonesia can be attributed to deep-rooted socio-historical foundations and the robust support of the intellectual network within these institutions. Consequently, these schools continue to fulfill a crucial function in disseminating knowledge within the community. It is evident from this study that the intellectual network of pesantrens plays a pivotal role in shaping societal dynamics. Moreover, this network must be attuned to contemporary challenges in order to ensure the sustained relevance and enhanced quality of pesantrens as key sources of scholarly expertise.

Abstract

The aim of this study is discussing the contemporary Fiqh views on the impact of sex change on transgender inheritance and discuss them. The study followed the comparative critical inductive approach. The study ended up dividing the impact of sex change on transgender inheritance into two forms; the first: if the transgender is the inheritor, then his share is the share of the hermaphrodite formed according to the Hanafi school; to activate the principle of Ta'zir by taking money, and the position of Hanafi is necessary for the Jordanian Personal Status Law. If the transferee is the inheritor, there is no effect of the transferee on the share of the heirs.

Abstract

This article aims at re-presenting the Islamisation of the Malay-Indonesian archipelago from the 13th to 19th century, focusing on the narrative of intellectualism and activism conducted inter-relatedly during the very act of religious proselytization. The background of this research arises from the need to understand the complexity of Islamisation in the archipelago, on the one hand, and the negligence of such narrative in the historiography of islamization, on the other. Taking this as the basis of narrative, this article will re-explain the major phases in the Islamization of the archipelago by paying attention both to the political variable and, particularly, the intellectual-historical aspects. This paper uses the historical-descriptive method by collecting and analyzing relevant historical materials. The selected data will be re-narrated within the framework of intellectualism and activism in the Islamization process. This research also uses the comparative method to compare the phases of Islamization in various regions of the archipelago, thus providing a more complete picture of the dynamics that occurred in the 13th to 19th centuries. The expected purpose is to go beyond the political-historical perspective that currently dominates the historiography of Islamization and marginalizes the proselytizing aspect which is an intertwining of intellectualism and activism in that process.
